Ravens' Sergio Kindle Injured in Fall
The Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle was injured in a fall in Austin, Texas, where he reportedly fell down two flights of stairs. This is bad news as rookies are reporting to Training Camp tomorrow morning (Monday), although now Kindle will not be there, which will be the big news of the day at the team's 3pm press conference.
Our thoughts and prayers for this being a minor issue go out to Sergio, his family and the team. Below is the team's official Press Release:
July 25, 2010
For Immediate Release
SERGIO KINDLE
Sergio Kindle, the Ravens’ first pick in the second round last April, suffered a head injury in a house he was visiting Thursday night in Austin, Texas. It is believed that Kindle fell down two flights of stairs.
Kindle is stable, being treated and observed. Members of the Ravens’ medical staff are in communication with doctors at University Medical Center Brackenridge.
Kindle will not report to McDaniel College with other rookies this Monday when the team’s training camp starts.
"Members of our medical staff, including Bill Tessendorf and Dr. Andy Tucker, have spoken with doctors in Texas. We understand Sergio is stable at this time and that he is being tested and observed," said Ozzie Newsome, the Ravens’ executive vice president and general manager.

Have fun explaining this to goodell…
It doesn’t sound good that they’re “testing and observing.” That sounds like a serious head injury. Telling people it’s “stable” doesn’t mean he’s okay… it just let’s you know he’s not going to die.

Via Aaron Wilson (probably the most reputable Ravens reporter out there):

Source close to Sergio Kindle says he’s gotten much better over past day or two and should make full recovery. Still being observed.

That is great news, but
then the next question is “When?”

Here’s some not-as-great news via Mike Florio:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/07/25/second-round-rookie-hospitalized-with-head-injury/
A league source tells us that Kindle initially had some swelling inside his skull, but the situation has since improved significantly.
It might not mean anything in this case, but elevated intracranial pressure can have serious long-term effects stemming from reduced blood flow to brain cells and potentially forcing the brain down on the brain stem. I assume that this is where the “being treated and observed” wording comes in. As I said in my Fan Shot, I hope that he’s going to be alright, but my expectations are tempered.
The team says that Kindle supposedly fell down “two flights of stairs.” There was some initial skepticism regarding the contention, but apparently no effort will be made for now to debunk Kindle’s claim.
Assuming Kindle makes a complete recovery, he still has to deal with this. It sounds like the Ravens might not believe Kindle’s story. If they’re going to make a big deal out of it, the classy thing to do would be to wait until he’s out of the hospital. I’d expect to hear more (if anything) about this in the future.

Well, personally
I believe him. If he said he fell down two flights of step while sober, there’s not a chance. But I believe 100%, given his past, that he got drunk at his friend’s house and took a huge spill down some steps.
On the first day, Chuck Norris created God. But the day before that, Matt Wieters created Chuck Norris and the calendar.

The issue is not whether or not he was sober
the issue is his head injury. If he is “stable” it is because at some point, he wasn’t, which is scary. If he had a concussion playing football, he could misss a couple of weeeks. This is a lot more serious than that and I’d expect him to miss quite a bit of football activities, meaning a few weeks at best. That will put him, a rookie, well behind EVERYONE else and jeopardize his chance to be a major contributor in 2010.

Very sorry to hear this guys. I know a rivalry is a rivalry, but you never want to see someone get hurt. Hope Serg gets better soon.
3 yards and a pile of dust
I want to see Chad get hurt, and by hurt I want to see him get his heart broken on his dumbass show.
I love that show, I can’t wait til he takes the winner to The Sizzler or Red Lobster… 100% completely serious and they think its a gag, but he is honestly taking them to The Lob.
that show is hilarious
He was talking to this one chick, who was a complete knockout like the rest of them, and she was like “how come you’ve never found the perfect woman?” He’s like “I don’t know,” as if it couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that he finds his women on reality TV.

Aparently Kidle woke up in the midle of the night and was wondering in the dark in a house he wasn’t familiar with. He coul’ve just turned the light on and he would be on his way to training camp
This will sound VERYcallous but .............
since head injuries are tough to diagnose and once you have a major one you are more likely to have another , should the Ravens even sign him ??
Veni, Vidi, Vici - Julius Caesar 47 BC
That’s not callous; it’s a reasonable concern. It’d be callous to say that we should put his balls in a vice and sign him to an embarrassingly small contract while he’s still groggy, then ride him to 12 sacks a year until his knee explodes and/or his brain scrambles.
But that’s not what you said.
