Flacco Hate From Falcons?
I was over on " The Falcoholic" looking oddly enough for any background on why Chad Ochocinco is constantly talking trash about the Falcons on his twitter account and came across some Flacco hate. Now while I expect it from division rivals this post caught me off guard.
In this fan post http://www.thefalcoholic.com/2010/6/21/1527817/anybody-else-hate-the-ravens the poster talks about how they are getting all pissy about the acclaim Flacco is receiving vs. the little amount of national attention Matt Ryan is receiving. For myself I don't have any disdain for Ryan, but I was beginning to wonder if Raven's fans felt a dislike for Ryan the same way Falcon's fans feel for our boy?
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

Thanks for finding this. Tried to set them straight a little bit.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
their boy Ryan
regressed, while our boy shined (at least for the first half of the season, before regressing too). And we made the playoffs 2 years running on the back of our rookie QB. It is called jealousy, not hate!
During their rookie years, Ryan got most of the press. It was deserved, he had the better year. Last year Flacco stayed on the field through injury and Ryan did not. This made the media a little more enamored with Flacco because nobody talks about players when they’re injured.
It’s common to hate on the guy you think is stealing your thunder.
Endorsements
I’ve never tried to look at the numbers but, based on what I’ve seen on TV, I’d guess Matt Ryan crushes Flacco in endorsements. Ryan was the Golden Boy, the first QB drafted in his class, the surefire star. Now that Flacco has gotten a little more respect (though I highly doubt he’ll ever be a big endorsement guy), I can understand why Falcon fans feel a little slighted with Ryan temporarily out of the spotlight.
They say the empty can rattles the most...
Matt Ryan is doing Gillette commercials that are shown all across the country while Joe does Pizza Hut and M&T Bank commercials that are only shown in the MD area. Man, Joe is such a bad actor. He never blinks, looks right into the camera and talks like he just woke up. But that is why we love our boy.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Does Matt Ryan have a pizza named after him?
No! Does Ryan do the Antwerpen Motor Cars commercial? No. What we have here is a local media celeb-rity!

Kind of a let down in a way...
Pizza Hut? Really?
At least get an original anything named after you. Roethlisburger.
But it fits with Joe’s MO, he’s just a regular guy with a rocket arm. I like that about him.

Domino’s
Last I checked, Pizza Hut employees were never caught on video spitting in pizzas.

Alomar has got full blown AIDS, he spits in the pizzas of our nations most popular pizza company…. Magic Johnson will go back to his old ways with the ladies.
It’s not impossible, just extraordinarily unlikely. Like the Browns making it to the playoffs.

A doctor once told me that you’d have to drink over a gallon of someone’s saliva in order to even have a chance of getting AIDS from them.
But I had no idea Alomar had AIDS. that sucks majorly.

Don't feel too bad for Alomar....
Alomar knew he had full blown AIDS. Then he had unprotected sex with his GF, who did not have AIDS, while she didn’t know he had AIDS or even HIV. Needless to say she got AIDS from him, and last I heard he was being charged with attempted murder. EFF Alomar!
here’s what I found about this
http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/story?id=6857096&page=1
first of all, i had no idea Alomar was raped by two Mexicans at the age of 17. His lawyer declined to say whether or not he is HIV positive (which I’m guessing means he is, because if he wasn’t then it would be impossible for his GF to sue him).

Howdy!
I’d just like to state that not all (or probably even a significant number of) Falcon fans really hate Flacco, any more than we hate any other quarterback who does well. I certainly don’t begrudge him any sucess—if you go back to the SBN Mock Draft, I actually selected Flacco for the Falcons.

Appreciate it, Dave.
Appreciate it. Nearly every single one of your guys over there said they hate Flacco for the dumbest reasons and truthfully think that he is an awful QB.
How can some of your guys make comments like these with no real reason behind them?
I hate Flacco
He really is a mediocre QB.
I don’t hate Flacco, but I hate how much the media inflates him to be so much better than Matty. Flacco isn’t very good, and was positively awful in ’08. Matty resurrected a dead bird and played like a friggin warrior at the end of last year.

Most of us abstained from the conversation.
If you look, you’ll see it’s the same 5 or 6 guys. It’s a long, long, boring offseason.
I, and 99% of Falcons fans, have absolutely no emotional investment in Flacco’s success or failure, except for one week in the 2010 season.

I'd say the original post was mostly in jest.
Not sure what “problems” that caused. I don’t agree with it at all, but it seems pretty harmless to say “I don’t like Athlete X for Reason Y.”

Wouldn't say it was really in jest...
There wasn’t even a joke that would seem bad in the post. I would also point out that what I had posted was a question about how Raven’s fans feel about Ryan. The questioni had asked was ment for readers to insert their feelings and express positive, negative or neutral coments on their own.
If there were some sort of factual argument brought up original post comparing Flacco and Ryan it would make the post less inflamitory.
You're telling me the following quote sounds like serious business fightin' words to you:
I just don’t like [Flacco] because I think he takes attention away from our golden boy.
It very clearly wasn’t meant to be a serious statistical discussion, just a dumb rant. I didn’t write the post, nor do I agree with it at all, but again, it seems pretty harmless to say "I don’t like Athlete X for Reason Y."

Well
I didn’t respond to the post on the “Falcoholic” in any way. I just posed the same question here. I refferenced the post as just that, a refference.
While stating that members there were getting “pissy” , I asked the same question of how members here felt about Ryan with out degrading the player.
Most of the people here reflected my same sentiment that they’re indifferent to Ryan.
I just said the post caught me off guard and didn’t describe it as “fightin’ words”

I told the Falcon fans that this argument is like saying, you hate your brothers’ wife, because she is prettier and sexier than your own. I think I pissed them off.

I have absolutely nothing against Matt Ryan.
But I do however hate his drunken frat boy nickname. I don’t recall noticing Flacco getting more media coverage, he’s not a media darling. The guy hardly speaks. I think the Falcoholic people are just trying to start some kind of rivalry. Lame.
