Ravens Agree to Terms with DT Arthur Jones
Per the Baltimore Ravens PR Department, here is breaking news:
The Baltimore Ravens have agreed in principle to a three-year deal with rookie DT Arthur Jones, executive vice president/general manager Ozzie Newsome announced Monday morning.
Jones was selected out of Syracuse in the fifth round (157th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. He was the Ravens’ second pick in the round, following WR David Reed (156th overall).
A four-year letterman who started 32 of 44 games played, Jones totaled 145 tackles (85 solo), 38.5 tackles for loss (-136 yards), 6.5 sacks (-61 yards) and four fumble recoveries during his career. His 38.5 career TFL are the most in Syracuse history by an interior defensive lineman, while his 145 career stops tie for 10th on SU’s all-time list for tackles by a down lineman.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Jones was elected as a team captain for the Orange during his senior season after earning All-Big East first-team honors in 2008.

Great, great news.
Man, our D-Line got so much better with this signing. I have read so many draft reviews for the Ravens and nearly all of them said that this was one of the best picks of the 2010 NFL Draft. So many people were amazed that he got drafted in the 3rd round when only a year ago many considered him to be a possible 1st round pick.
Jones and Cody will have a much greater impact on this team than Bannan and Edwards had, no disrespect to those guys though.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
u mean 5th round?

As a former 'Cuse season ticket holder...
Arthur is a heck of a guy, and has a ton of skill. That said, in all honesty, I watched him play for two seasons, and I can’t remember one real standout play that was all him. Of course, DT’s can be overlooked, even by me. (Carrier Dome beers don’t help either.)
I like Jones, and when you drafted him, I was bummed. He’s as strong as an ox, and is a good guy from all accounts. I’m sure you’ll get a lot out of him. I wanted to see him at end in our 3-4, and I’m sure you will use him similarly to how you’ve used your oversized ends to create space for whoever that 52 guy is, he (Jones) just needs to stay healthy.

Hopefully Jones can stay healthy...
I’d like to see what he can do in the pros.

He'll be a great reserve and spell
the other bigs in the middle there. Taking the place of Edwards, Bannan, etc., but don’t expect much else right off the bat.

Pretty much how I see it with the amount of talent you guys have on the line, but it's still something.
I like him enough that I hope he doesn’t fade away because of injury issues.
