Ravens to try out Reggie Smith

Besides playing wide receiver, Smith doubled as one of the top kick returners at the Division II level. Smith led the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association with a 20.2 punt return average last season, returning three for touchdowns as he ranked second in the nation. POST PUBLISH NOTE: Smith played for little-known Elizabeth City State in North Carolina and grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He played QB in high school, leading his team to the state championship game. He spent two years at Grand Rapids Community College, earning awards as a kick returner. Smith wanted to transfer to Division I but didn't have the credits to do so. He returned home, spent a year away from football while going to a technical school and then resumed playing at Elizabeth City State.
