Linebacker corps grows again.

According to baltimoreravens.com(http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/?p=5358) Edgar Jones is now a TE FB LB/DE. Now I rely on this site for opinions of my fellow Ravens Fanatics. First off I have never understood why the Ravens are so seemingly infatuated with Edgar. His only plus from what I have seen is his versatility however he doesn't excel at anything. Secondly this move baffles me considering he is going into an already deep linebacking corps. I could understand if he stayed at FB considering we only have Le'Ron and I'd love to see him at RB more but linebacker really? Could someone make sense of this?

The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

This is crazy. Jones has to be one of the best athletes on this team if he can keep switching positions like this. By far one of our best special teams players.

I heard that they’re just using him at linebacker during mini-camps and that he’s going back to fullback for training camp.

probably a roster technicality

to make room for other people to be on the team for a limited time

reminds me of Adalius Thomas before he was traded. In a single season, Thomas lined up at line backer, Corner back, Defensive end and strong Safety

Jones reminds me of Thomas.

Take a pic and post online. I love funny shit stories.

There is nothing similar between the two, except they are both black males.

They are actually fairly similar, in my opinion. Jones is 6-3 260 and Thomas is 6-2 270. They’re both athletic players.

I haven’t really seen Jones play defense that much. When he does, he’s usually a pass-rusher, but I have seen him play TE.

He’s a guy that can play either side of the ball and special teams in a heartbeat. More valuable then most think. Didn’t he play TE and DE two years ago in the Pitt playoff game when Suggs went down?

Should be easy

I think he was a linebacker first before he was moved over to offence. I remember seeing him as LB/TE. This should be an easy transition for him, although I don’t know why the team even bothers designating him as anything other than ST. Thats where he sees the field most. He’s a special teamer first, and then he’s the emergency TE/FB/LB/DE.

Heck we might as well try him at conerback!

They say the empty can rattles the most...

Theteam must really value his versatility

although he can’t get a starting gig at any of these positions. Like to find out what they are thinking when they are moving him, trying him at different positions as well as his take on this.

This is the exact same thing that happened with Adalius.

For his first 4-5 years he moved aroud alot, not necessarily at TE, but played so many oter places and was a special teams stand out. I doubt we will see Jones starting anytime within the next 3 years or so because we have so much talent at OLB, but I would like to keep this guy around for a while.

They like him on ST, that is his #1 job, although he seemed to have a lot of ST penalties last season. I’m pretty sure they like his versatility to back up any number of positions, depending on team need in any given year, while remaining a key component in special teams.

I like him because his mindset reminds me of BA

He knows ST is his niche and he goes balls out for it to be the best he can be and doesn’t compain… he is the player every fan says they would be if they got the chance to play… do whatever the team asks you to and go 100% because you are blessed to get paid big money to play a great game.
