Around SBN: Bob Sapp Denies Throwing Fights

"3. Baltimore. I think the Ravens have hit a few home runs this offseason, and those moves could carry them to the AFC Championship Game. I like the remake of their receiver corps. Anquan Boldin won't make it through 16 games healthy, but he'll give Joe Flacco a good, physical target for 12. Donte' Stallworth will be reborn as an effective third or fourth wideout, with the speed at the position the Ravens haven't had. On defense, I wish I saw something better at cornerback than waiting for Lardarius Webb to come back from knee surgery sometime this summer so that the starting corners opening day aren't Chris Carr and Domonique Foxworth. Defensive coordinator Greg Mattison obviously has to be hoping for it to be third- and-long so often (with a great run-stuffing front) that he doesn't have to worry about the more than occasional coverage error downfield."

As glad as I am to see the Ravens getting some love from the national press, I can’t stand Peter King. I’ll take Ross Tucker over him any day of the week. He doesn’t hold a candle to Don Banks or pre-stroke Dr. Z either.

Kissing Suzy Kolber really says it best:

Peter King is strangely on our nuts though

he said Suggs was the 18th best player in the NFL last year. I don’t think the most homerish Ravens fan would rank him THAT high.

Not bad.

The rest of the rankings

Really surprised to see Green Bay at number one.

And so begins Peter King’s infatuation with Brett Favre’s successor.

Green Bay & San Diego at #1 & #2?

What a crock of shit! Peter King once again reminds us all of what a moron he is. Notice in his column where he points out that he picked the Bears to win last years Super Bowl….enough said.

seriously

Someone explain to me how San Diego got better this offseason??? They STILL can’t win the big games.

No clue what he sees in them.

I see Mathews being a bust.

I do think the Packers are going to be really good this year, just not sure I’d have them over a few teams (Vikes, Saints).

Loved this:
When we last left bitch/lover/child/mother/sinner/saint Peter King, he was regaling you with tales of Tom Brady’s wonderful bi-coastal existence (He lives on both coasts? Who knew? Who figured? Who guessed? Who’s that girl? Whoooooo are you? Who who? Who who?), and declaring a fattywa on Brian Cushing of the Texans.

Ok

I am not complaining about the #3 ranking, but GB at 1 and SD at 2? Like jackmca said above, what did SD do to improve themselves this year? They actually lost one of their top CB’s (even though he was looking iffy), who knows what Merriman is going to give you now that he can’t take his steroids anymore, lost their best DL and have an O-Line coming off some serious injuries. I am not sold, we own the Chargers.

GB is a very, very good team, but I think it is unfair to not have New Orleans at #1. They are the champions and until beaten, they are the best team in the NFL right now. I would feel much better with NO, Indy, Baltimore. Not to sound strange, but how can he rank us above Indy after how they made us their bitch last year, and have since we have been in existence. With both teams at 0-0, you gotta put Indy above us.

I am very surprised to see NE at #14, considering how big of a Patriots nut rider Kind has been since their first Superbowl. This guy would pick the Patriots to win the Stanley Cup if he could in the past.

Carolina at #8? Yea Delhomme might have lost them some games last year with his 75 interceptions, but they have a rookie 2nd round pick and Matt Moore fighting for the spot right now. They will most likely start off slow unless Williams and Stewart can just go beastmode right away (which could very easily happen). Just not sure they are a top 10 team.

This guy has San Fransisco ranked way too low. #19 for a team that is obviously the most talented in that division? I am calling it right now that the 49ers go at least 11-5 and run train on that division. They made all the right moves in the off-season to make Alex Smith the QB he should be. I think SF is a top 10 team on a talent stand point.

Bengals at 23? Holy crap. Even us Ravens fans would probably put them in the top half of the league this year.

Peter King, you wild’n yo.

I don’t see why people are so surprised at King’s rankings. Once he gets a couple Orange Mochafrappaccinos in him, he gets a little crazy.

4000 yds. No big Deal. Personally – I say- he breaks Testaverde’s record of 4100 and something. Stay healthy receivers.

I Can see Flacco getting 4000 easily

He only needs 250 yards a game to reach that goal

Drew Brees

Joe Cool only needs 50 more yards a game to equal Drew’s yardage from last year. With this group of receivers, how does he not achieve that??

Did he say "No big deal" ...

Or did he simply show no emotion at all and that’s how the reporter interpreted it?

or the beginning of an era of blank stares.

I can picture him on the cover of sports Illustrated, hoisting the Lombardi, with a blank stare, as if to say “durrrrrr.” Peter King commented, “that’s pretty good for someone in the middle of something emotional.”

I want you to tell me why they are bad. Go take a hard look at the numbers last year and tell me what was bad. How many Ravens games did you watch last year? Did you watch the NE playoff game? 8th in the league in pass defense. We have a healthy Ed Reed coming back and have added 2 new CB to the roster. You really have no idea what you are talking about, you are just a ESPN repeating yuppy bitch.

New King Article

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/peter_king/05/18/mailbag/index.html?eref=writers

He discusses fans’ reactions to his rankings. He is my favorite one about the Cowboys. So funny.

“You put the Cowboys at 10? We are talking about a final eight team that finished with the number two offense in the league and added a dynamic WR. All the starters outside of two are returning to a veteran team. Maybe you should spend more time researching the Cowboys and less time on the amount of foundation make-up used.’’
