Brad Jones was in Ravens Camp for the 1st Mini-Camp

I didn’t notice him, but it might have been because he had one of those jerseys without a name on the back and was not listed on the rosther they gave us. However, when I was speaking w/ Haruki Nakamura, he said he played with him in Cincinnati and was helping him understand the playbook, assignments, etc.

Pretty good measurables

Any thoughts as to why he wasn’t drafted? Size? Ball Skills?

He was the 39th ranked CB in the draft, not invited to the combine, looked good on Cincinnati’s Pro day.

We were not the only ones interested in him:

University of Cincinnati cornerback and safety Brad Jones has been contacted recently by seven NFL teams expressing interest in him, according to a source close to the program.

Jones attended the Cincinnati Bengals’ local prospects day on April 13.

Regarded as a later-round draft target, Jones has heard from the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ers.

College summary:

2008 Season
Backup at both corner and safety positions … totaled 14 tackles, including seven solo stops … intercepted Heisman trophy winner Sam Bradford in second quarter of game at No. 4/4 Oklahoma … also had a pick at Akron … assisted on a tackle for loss at Marshall.

2007 Season
Competed in all 13 games … carded 19 stops as a reserve cornerback and member of special teams … notched a pair of tackles and a fumble recovery against Southeast Missouri State … collected fumble recovery and an interception, to go with three tackles vs. Oregon State … registered a career-high five solo stops at Miami (OH) … collected four tackles vs. Marshall … tallied two stops at USF.

2006 Season
Made his debut on special teams … saw action in four games … Scout Team Specialist of the Week for the Miami (OH) and Syracuse games.

Oh he is 6"2 205, so he didn’t go undrafted cuz of size or measurables. Hmmm. He wasn’t a starter in college either, even though a spot opened up at CB this past year for him after the last starter was drafted (Mickens). Does not sound too promising except maybe as a ST contributor. I would rather have Ashton Hall make the roster, similar size and starting experience at CB and S! Plus a SICK vertical leap!

Team website said he is 192.

Jones is a 6-foot, 192-pound rookie from Cincinnati who has experience at cornerback and safety. He recorded 42 tackles as a senior and two interceptions as a junior backup, including one against Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford.

This might actually be better for CB. 13 pounds is a huge difference for a speed position.

You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
