Kevin Walter Re-signs With Texans
I guess that unless we want T.O. then we're probably done with free agent/ trading for receivers (besides re-signing Derrick Mason). I like the "Q" (Anquan Boldin) trade but I also don't. I would have preferred Brandon Marshall because it would have only cost one pick (first rounder) and he is definitely first round talent and younger and I also don't like giving up 3rd AND 4th round picks for "Q" but I really think he'll help the team a lot. Kevin Walter is definitely out of the question then.
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

I see the Boldin deal as a steal considering that we still have our 1st and 2nd picks. Call me crazy but usually great talent is at the top of the draft and Ozzie has a knack for picking well in the 1st round.
Was a good idea
But he can stay there. Still would be amazing to see this team take a WR in the first two rounds. It’s a good class.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
I also don’t like giving up 3rd AND 4th round picks for Q
Are you nuts? Third and fourth round picks grow on trees. They’re what you get for compensatory picks. I actually think that we may be getting a fourth round compensatory pick for losing Bart Scott, and we could easily aquire more picks by simply trading down (something that Ozzie does almost every draft).
I simply cannot understand Ravens fans that aren’t ecstatic about this deal. It’s so perfect that I’d almost say it’s divine providence (okay… maybe not that far), but if someone had asked me before this deal which receiver in the NFL would fit best with the Ravens, I would have said Boldin without thinking twice. He’s a physically dominating receiver and a fierce competitor.
What is everyone worried about… his age? He has at least four seasons of HIGH production in him. If we get those, it will be the biggest steal since Moss. Is it his injury history? That hasn’t affected his production. He’s averaged 1100 yards over the last five seasons. Furthermore, he’s about the toughest receiver I’ve ever seen. He had his sinuses fractured and only missed one game. The man is a warrior.
If you guys still want Marshall, I feel sorry for you. The reason that the Ravens are competitive year after year is because they don’t take stupid risks like signing a time-bomb receiver. Sure, Marshall may go on to set records, but it’s equally as likely that he will be suspended or be a huge distraction to his team. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m thanking my lucky stars that we didn’t bet the farm on Marshall… and that we traded for Boldin.
Wake up! This deal is about the best thing that the Ravens and their fans could have hoped for!

Were getting a 3rd for bart
And I think a 4th for Leonard also. We really got Boldin for free!
FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve heard conflicting reports on whether or not we will get compensatory picks… since we added as many FA’s as we lost, we apparently may be ineligible for as many as usual. I’m not certain though because I am so used to Ozzie picking up 3 or 4 comp picks every year.
compensatory picks
google AdamJT, he predicts compensatory picks. He usually predicts correctly. He doesn’t think we will get more than 1.
Players Added: Birk, Foxworth, Carr, Washington(might not count)
Players Who Left: Brown, Scott, Leonhard
Also, we picked up a 5th rounder in the trade. So we gave up a 3rd and swapped a 4th for a 5th.

Well said BAL
As much as I wanted a deal with Marshall to get done, this could really help us even more in the long run because we always find a steal in the first round late in the draft. We are definitely going to get a 4th because of Bart and probably a 5th for Leonhard.

Totally agree w/ BAL_Hawk
How can anyone say they’d rather trade one first rounder over a 3rd & 4th? Boldin is a great competitor and team player with a spotless off the field record. End of conversation.
Also, I guess Kevin Walter’s only real suitor (us) made him accept whatever Houston was offering all along.
aka 'Rexx'
I dont know still
Trading away that first seemed so easy to do for Marshall. I still think that would have been a great fit and great deal.
