PrintUpdate on Mocking the Draft's 3rd live NFL mock draft. If anyone is wondering where a 3rd came from since our pick was involved in the Boldin exchange, a trade was made with the Indianapolis Colts which sent Baltimore's 25th and 152nd pick for the Indy's 31st and 94th pick. Props to everyone involved and managers running the draft for getting the 3rd and 4th rounds done efficiently. Full results here.
Alex Carrington - DE - Arkansas State (6'5" 285 lbs) Highlights
- Was the #83 player on my board when choosing Carrington with the 94th overall pick. A guy who we could see go as early as the mid to late 2nd round this year. Has been used in a 3-4 and 4-3 defensive system, so he has versatility. Completed career at Ark. St. with 21.5 sacks, 14.5 of which came in 2009. Former Sun Belt Conference player of the year. Best attribute of Carrington's game is definitely his run defense because of superb balance and east - west movement. Has a very strong bull rush and has enough quickness to push the Tackle straight back. A solid DE to have for collapsing rushing lanes. Does not use his strength to his advantage, but makes up for it with finesse moves and good arm length.

Looks like a great pick
I looked him up and although he’s from a small school, he has the size and skill set that might be great in our defense. The only negative I read but don’t necessarily subscribe to is that they say he doesn’t have the edge speed needed to beat the better LT’s in the game. But then again, supposedly neither did Suggs.

It’s all about technique, film study and passion for the game. The smaller school products have a chip on their shoulders, something to prove and so more often than not the hunger is there when taken.
