Mock Drafts Around the 'net
Looking around the internet, there are a ton of Mock Drafts out there from so-called reputable sources, so I thought I'd take a tour and see what they all predict our Baltimore Ravens to do with the 25th pick in the first round.
Over at NFL.com, Pat Kirwan has the Ravens taking Florida State CB Patrick Robinson, skipping over available players such as Dez Bryant, Taylor Mays and Carlos Dunlap.
(Click on the 'Jump' to see more sites and the links to other Mock Drafts.)
Don Banks of Sports Illustrated, has the Ravens taking Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham, but passing on guys such as WR Demaryius Thomas, DE Jared Odrick and LB Sean Weatherspoon.
National Football Post's Wes Bunting has Ravens surprisingly taking Florida TE Aaron Hernandez, bypassing LB Sergio Kindle and safety Taylor Mays.
Yahoo Sports' Shutdown Corner has us taking Georgia Tech WR Demaryius Thomas, but ignoring TE Jermaine Gresham, CB Kyle Wilson and DE Jared Odrick, who were available.
FOX Sports' Paul Schrager has the Ravens targeting Notre Dame WR Golden Tate, but not taking Sergio Kindle, Jared Odrick or Sean Weatherspoon.
Of course, there's always the first shot at the Mock Draft by our own SB Nation, where they also have the Ravens taking the Golden Dome's Golden Tate, complements of our own Mr MaLoR, but that was a while back, so cut him some slack if you're getting ready to post a retort right about now! Besides, this Mock Draft only has the Ravens passing on guys the likes of Jared Odrick, Kyle Wilson, Sean Weatherspoon and Carlos Dunlap!

In the past years, I’ve never seen a mock draft come close to what actually happens. Yet, I still love looking at mocks and deciding the authors intelligence based on them.
Pat Kirwan’s mock draft is pretty good, except for our pick.
Don Banks looks like he copied some espn’ers Mocks.
Yahoo! Sports gets my award for Ravens best pick.
Paul Schrager picking Golden Tate for us is crazy for the first round. He seems like late second round talent. (Of course I thought the same about Desean Jackson)
Kiper and McShay usually do a fairly good job
The right teams don’t always pick and trades of course blow drafts up sometimes… but for the most part they slot players pretty well.
I think they usually get the first five picks correct
Unless of course a trade mucks things up.

True about the first 5 picks.
I like Kiper and McShay too. Since Kiper is a Ravens fan, I’m even a little more bias towards him. But f’ him for picking Gresham for us earliar. To many good TE’s in this draft to get one first round.
I gotta disagree with you. I’m all for grabbing Gresham if he’s still there at #25. We were looking at taking Pettigrew in the 1st round last year before Detroit drafted him, and I’d hate to miss out on this guy.

Pettigrew had 30 rec, 346 yds, and 2 Tds. If we get somewhere around those numbers from Gresham I’d be pissed (if he was our 1st Rd pick).
Pettigrew was hurt for a few games too. Can’t expect a rookie to go all out.

In waht was a horrible offense in Detroit
that is actually not bad stats for a rookie there. If we could get Gresham and he had 50 receptions for 500 yards and 5 TD’s I’d be thrilled. Even more so if Heap had 40 for 500 yards and 4 TDs along with that.

True,
but in his rookie year he is still going to play behind Heap… so only getting those numbers as a number 2 TE means Heaps numbers are way better… which could be great.
I don’t think you take TE for immediate impact… how often does that happen. You draft them for long term.
And how long should we go without addressing our need at TE? Sure we could grab one in the later rounds of the draft, but we might just end up with another Sypniewski (or however the hell you spell it).

I want to address it immediately. This offense is built around a TE being very, very successful and we need a guy who can put up 60-70 catches. Heap can still do that maybe, but won’t do it in the most efficient manner. He can’t break one tackle.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
I agree immediately... in the draft
just not the first pick… this year has enough TE’s that are close enough in talent that I would be ok with.
I’d rather address other needs and take the next best TE in the 2nd round or somethign like that
unless we trade back to 30’s and grab one with the first pick and pick up 3rd rounder or so where there is stil talent this year.
If we snag a guy in the first 3 rounds, I think we will be looking at a future starter. There are about 4-5 TE that could go in the 2nd and 3rd rounds that I think definitely have the skills to start for us. Would love Gronkowski or McCoy in the 2nd/3rd.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Perhaps Schrager's Mock
was done before the Boldin trade. And for Kirwan to have us taking Patrick Robinson in both of his Mock Drafts, there must be something good about that kid that has Kirwan liking him enough to say we’re STILL “taking” him.

I like Pat Kirwan a lot on talk radio, but I don't think he does a great job at creating a draft board
His mock drafts seem to go straight off need and then he picks a player he liked from watching college tape more so than actually creating a board and analyzing talent for the draft.
Kiwan does seem to have a few fans
I don’t happen to be one of them. I do agree that he does a terrible job of creating a draft board. An example is Bradford at #1 on his board before the medicals come in and his pro day.
To be fair though
There are a growing number of people who feel the Rams should take Bradford at Number 1 right now. I believe Kiper did that too and he is usually pretty good.
Rams missed on Ryan, Stafford, Sanchez, and Flacco. Bulger hasn’t had a QB rating better than 71.4 in three years. They’ve got to take a chance on a QB this year.
I agree and that would be their franchise pick fo rthe future
unless of course, they go the “WOW” route and do what I posted a few days ago and trade for Vick, sign TO and then draft Suh.

No way in hell they do that. The veteran route doesn’t work in the NFL. Ask Daniel Snyder and the Redskins. He tried it for years.

No thanks on Robinson please!
I have watched a good amount of games for FSU and this guy is not first round talent. He is average size and gets caught looking way too much. Wiffs on a bunch of tackles and gets beat by guys bigger his size. I saw alot of pass interferences against him throughout his college career. Not what we need. I would much rather take McCourty in the first over Robinson if Haden and Wilson are both gone.

And there is no way we would pass over those three guys for Robinson I would think. Dez Bryant would be a great, great pick. I would not mind having Taylor Mays either. Dunlap is ideal of course.

The Sirius guys
were really down on Dunlap, saying a tiger doesn’t change his stripes, referring to the fact that he is a raw talent who just doesn’t get it.

Frank Walker may be leaving
From his Twitter.
sup twitter word seems as if imma be taking the ravens pics down bc i may be a ___________ its a secret i will let u all know when it inked,
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
I hope it's not the case.
He has grown on me with his interviews. He seems like a great guy as long as he stays the number 4/5 cb. But can’t let sentiment get in the way of a super bowl run (or as dminton81 reminded us… probably a WC round loss to Indy).
You and me are one of the few. I would not mind keeping him around. I like guys who enjoy being here and want to play for this team. There are not alot of those types of players in this league. Frank is the most physical CB on our team and gets in the WR face. He makes some dumb decisions that have cost us, but so did Foxworth and Washington last year. Keep Frank if we can. He is a good special teamer as well.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
I heard an NFC team
is signing him. Best of luck, Frank. Now who will be blame for screwing up all the time!?

we all know that ozzie draft great players
that turn out to be very good on the team maybe that te davon drew might step up for the ravens he hasn’t shown his speed or skills on the field yet he may be the right guy we looking for in a te
I don’t see how one of them have us taking hernandez with our first pick. I don’t see any scenario where we take him in the first. If bryant was there I don’t think we should pass him up, too much upside there. I would rather pass on gresham and go for one of the other TE in the 2nd or later.
I agree with you. I would not be upset at all if we did take Gresham in the first, but there is going to be so much great talent at DE, LB and CB left when we get there. I find it hard to believe that someone will not be higher than Gresham on Ozzie’s board come the 25th pick.

"In Ozzie we trust"
We probably sound like a cult to outsiders when we say this. It’s true though, we all trust Ozzie.
Ozzie, you want me to drink this kool-aid, with some funny smell? Ok, if you say so.

If Ozzie asked me to sacrifice my first-born
I’d probably say no, but man would I be tempted.

sign Vasher
He has more upside than Marlin Jackson, who I wanted us to sign before he went to Philly. He is a former pro bowler who is 28, has had some injury plagued seasons, and at worst could give us some good games until webb and washington are 100%, and best case scenario could be our #2/#3 cb. He has mad return skills. I would equate him to Cromartie with some injury problems. Since he was released, he doesn’t hurt us under the final 8 restrictions!
Could be a great pickup for us!
He was released for a reason
Just ask mostly any Bears fan, they will say he sucks.

I thought the same thing when I heard that
Unless he was just a shadow of his former self. Vasher was one of my defensive players in the fantasy league that kept defensive stats.

He was good a couple of years ago
But he has really gotten slow and inconsistany over the past couple of years.

Not sucks
After 16 int’s his 1st 3 years and a Pro-Bowl, he has been injury prone for a few years, but he is still young. He was released because he was being overpaid (big extension after year 3, dye 3 million in 2010) and lost his job last year, and would have been one of the highest paid nickelbacks in the league.
2006- missed a little time with injuries, came back and and a FR and INT en route to a Super Bowl, then held Marvin Harrison to 59 yds in the SB.
2007- missed 10 games with a groin injury, was very good in the games he played.
2008- wrist injury, played just half the season.
2009- Was demoted after giving up a 50-yd pass in the opener, never recovered the job.
2010- Released after the team signed Tim Jennings to a 2 year deal.

So he hasn't been good since 2006...
I guess give him a league minimum 1 year deal, and see what we can do with a good defense.
Its not rocket science
I just finish watching a bunch of tape on all these guys, and I have Kyle Wilson as a sure thing. This guy is a beast all over the field. I like the idea of him and (if healthy)Webb at CB. hopefully Kruger can transition to DE. This is my fantasy so dont judge me. But as a plan B i like DE Jared Odrick as good pick up, Screw everyone else. Just remeber though Dittsburgh has to mach us pick for pick just to stay relevant in AFC N.
Of course. No one is going to judge you on your “fantasy.” We would love Wilson here and love for Kruger to go to DE. But we still need depth even if Kruger does end up a stud. Pryce will be gone next year most likely and we just lost two very good back-ups. Always exciting though to get new faces in here.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
I like the blue collar depth we have though
I like McKinney, I like the power of Will Smith… so he could be RE-SIGNED after we cut him due to the numbers game at DT, Talavou is still a decent NT rotational option a big 350 lbsish.
Nothing to go nuts about, but were we going nuts over Bannan a few years ago after Nolan stole away Abrayo Franklin?
Ive heard some great things about Talavou
On the radio sometime last year before the season started, they had one of the scouts on there to talk about the guys who made the team as undrafted players or were 2nd, 3rd year players and he was talking about Talavou. They said he is a freaking monster, really strong and just nasty. The scout was talking about how Birk wanted to fight Talavou at one point in practice because he was getting so physical with Birk.
