Star-divide

In celebration of the 75th NFL Draft, which kicks off in primetime for the first time on Thursday, April 22, fans now can help choose the 75 Most Valuable Draft Picks of all time.  Fans can vote for their choices at NFL.com now through April 18.

Following the conclusion of the fan vote, picks 11 - 75 will be announced from April 19 – April 22 on NFL.com and NFL Network.  The top 10 greatest Draft picks then will be revealed during the 2010 NFL Draft, which begins Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 pm ET.  The Second and Third Rounds of the Draft will be on Friday, April 23 at 6:00 PM ET followed by Rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 24 at 10:00 AM ET.

The 10 Most Valuable Draft Picks will be announced during Round 1, when many of the Top 10 will be in attendance at Radio City Music Hall, the home of the 2010 NFL Draft. The order of the Top 10 will be revealed after the conclusion of the Second Round of the Draft on Friday night.  Many of these players will be on hand for the announcement.

NFL.com editors narrowed down the first 74 Drafts to a list of the top 320 players, consisting of 10 players from each team.  Fans begin the process of determining the Most Valuable Draft Pick by choosing between pairs of players randomly generated from the list of 320 greats.  After selecting winners of 30 random matchups, fans will begin to build their own Top 10 list.  Fans may continue to vote in order to make changes to their personal Top 10 list as well as the All-Time Top 10 announced at the Draft. Users then may share their lists and their head-to-head winners on Facebook.

NFL.com delivers comprehensive information on each of the 320 players, including the player’s draft information and career accomplishments to help the voters make educated selections in determining the Most Valuable Pick

I had to vote for Ray, but...

….JO would have been worthy as he is one of the best LT’s to ever play the game and opened huge holes for our great running game , plus neutralized so many great pass rushers.

At the same time, based on value, perhaps Adalius is worthy of the selection for this gem being found by Ozzie. Undrafted, and therefore, ineligible, is Bart Scott.

However, Ray is arguably the best ever at his position and one of the best ever to play, regardless of the position, which Ogden is not in that conversation. Besides, getting Ray at #25 of the first round in ’96 is still great value, knowing that there were 24 other teams that regrettably passed on him and can only say, “what if?”

To me, this is a no-brainer. Ray Lewis has been the heart and soul of the team during his 13 years in the NFL. He is one of the greatest (THE greatest in my opinion) linebackers to every play the game and led a defense that single-handedly won the Super Bowl for his team. Furthermore, the Ravens have gotten 13 seasons of ridiculous production from him. I honestly don’t know how much more the Ravens (or any team for that matter) could have asked from ANY draft pick. I think Ray Lewis is one of the most valuable draft picks of all time regardless of the team.

The real question is… Who was the Raven’s best draft pick other than Ray Lewis? Ray is the undisputed choice in my opinion.

That's when I'll choose JO

He’s the first HoF-er on this team, but Adalius is the best for such a late round pick.

I am disgusted that JO has 1 vote, MINE!

Yes Ray has been the face of this team, but JO was the anchor that held us down. He battled through some serious injuries when he was in his prime and stuck it out with a crappy offense. Long live Ogden!

Malor makes a good point about J.O., but c’mon man, its Ray Ray!

I don’t know. I look at JO and Ray as 1a and 1b. Ray might just be 1a though, but I appreciate what those two have done for this organization the same.

I see what your saying

But the fact that Ray has that attitude, that take control, run the team make everyone better swagger, i gotta give it to him. It’s easy to overlook a linemen, and maybe thats what i’m doing, but Ray’s been the head of the franchise forever.

by ravsagain on Mar 13, 2010 4:07 PM EST up reply actions

Yea, I guess if we are talking about value, then Ray wins cause he was taken so late in the first and was the 6th LB taken in that draft. But overall best draft pick of all time, I have to go with JO. I thank god we did not take Lawarence Phillips, cause that was the right pick at the time.

What does "best draft choice" mean?

I went online and started to do this — I suspect given the existing process that people will pick the best player rather than the best draft choice. Is it value or best player?

So for example, I don’t care who you think the best QB of all time is — probably Brady is the best QB draft choice ever given that he was a 5th with 2nd place going to Joe Montana as a 3rd.
