Behind the Scenes at a NFL Pro Day....sort of

Now that the 2010 NFL Combine has concluded, this is the time of the year when all the Division 1 school's pro days begin. Today at University of Maryland, the few players that are looking to be drafted this year worked out in front NFL scouts from all over the country. The conditioning drills such as 40 times and other cone drills were held earlier in the day and I was not able to attend them because of classes.

However, I did get a chance to sneak over to the practice field to catch the actual football drills. Unfortunately I only caught about the last 15 minutes of the Pro Day workouts, but I did catch a glimpse of projected first round pick, Tackle Bruce Campbell.

Here are a few notes, pictures and videos I took away from the little bit I saw after the jump.

Star-divide

Team scouts I noticed were at the Pro Day

  • Carolina
  • Oakland
  • St. Louis
  • San Diego
  • Green Bay
  • Washington
  • New England

- There were most likely other scouts there, but these were the only ones I recognized because they were wearing team gear.

The drills that I was able to see were some CB and QB drills. Nearly the entire team and coaches were at the Pro Day supporting those participating and it was a fun event to see happen. They seemed to run the same exact drill over and over again, but the players were executing the directions really well. I got to the pro day right when Bruce Campbell was finishing up his drills, and I could tell right away that there was a buzz. Everyone was crowded around Bruce while he ran through a few blocking drills and got a chance to show off his immense size and speed. I got a chance to shake his hand when he was leaving and wish him luck in the NFL. It is incredible that he is 300+ pounds because he is built like a Defensive End. Absolute freak of nature

- Here are a few pictures and videos I was able to get. Now, the quality of the videos is not very good at since I was recording them with my phone and there really was not too much to take pictures of, but it was the only stuff I could get.

Sorry I was not able to get more videos and pictures, the workouts were coming to an end and I had to get back to class.

Malor, Did you get the NE scout’s wallet before or after you took his picture?
