How Dare You Raven Fans?
The Ravens in the last two years have been to the playoffs under Coach John Harbaugh wining three out of two playoff games. Raven fans for years have been waiting for a good quarterback/better offense to back up our great defense and now that we finally have a good offense it seems there nothing but complaints from Ravens fans.
The Ravens have one of the best offensive coordinators in the league who sometimes call plays that are questionable. Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron is the same offensive coordinator that has turn this offense from below average to good but Ravens fans still complain. The Ravens defense lost Defensive Coordinator Rex Ryan a year ago but still was rank top five defenses in the NFL last year. Defensive Coordinator Greg Mattson is the same defensive coordinator that was playing calling in the playoffs last year when The Ravens completely dominated The New England Patriots in their home stadium.
The Ravens have given Ravens fans so much spark of hope for the last two years and now have a record of 9-4 working ahead to another playoff berth; Ravens fan can only reply with fired Coach John Harbaugh, Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron, Defensive Coordinator Greg Mattson and also bench quarterback Joe Flacco. The Ravens Overall may not be up to expectation as Ravens fans may hope but the season is not over and the last thing we need to do is turn against those that has help this team get so far this year.I have faith that this team will get things together because we are the Ravens and the only thing can beat us is us.

The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

Agreed.
I couldn’t believe that I was seeing people calling for Harbaugh to be fired (even if it was a joke, or an emotional overreaction to the close game, I don’t care). 3/4 of the other teams in the league wish they were us right now.
Yea I mean that was bad, what can u say. But the best way to avoid that is to sustain drives.

3/4 of the teams wish they had our personnel…not coach. harbs needs to go or needs a very strong O-Coord. he makes the same fundamental mistakes every game. i have never seen a defense hurting so bad and nothing being done about it TO wise or sub wise. I have also never seen the exact same problems haunt a team for 3 years. Our game finsihes are almost mirror images. It’s amazing. 3 years is a career for some players. It should be for coaches too.
Raven, you never talk about execution. Better yet, when the Ravens do execute, you don’t complain about the play call.
In reference to the play call on 3rd and 2, Mason was open but Flacco threw to a well covered Boldin.
I do agree we should have used the 2 timeouts we still had going into to overtime. For one, call it before the 2 point conversion.
Is Harbs the new Andy Reid?
Are Raven fans the new Eagle Fans?
I know that if our Ravens go into the playoffs and miss making it to the Superbowl again, we are going to have one BITTER fanbase. A win is a win, but a Superbowl win will be the only thing that will leave our fans, or any fan, not wanting more. Which would only satisfy us until the next season.
It's Because
The Fans realize this is the last go-round for (Ed) Reed, (Ray) Lewis, Birk, Gregg and probably D-Mase. That is going to be a huge turnover for the next season-! You hope that we have the Mason hole covered with what we have, Cody will hopefully be able to step in for Gregg, but for the others- it is going to take Kindle at least a year to become a truly effective every-down linebacker. Ruki-Zbi-some combination thereof, while bringing production to the table, are very different DB’s than Reed. And the Birk hole is going to be huge, even with the linemen we have in the pipeline. And I think Heap may be a bigger question mark going forward than people realize and the prospect of Pita and Dickson as our #1 and #1A TE’s is a bit daunting.
I think fans realize this is our last, best shot for sometime. We may be a potential playoff caliber team next season, but I do not think we will have the personnel to be serious SuperBowl contenders next year. Win now, win it all, do whatever it takes to get the job done this year. Sell out and leave nothing behind, because a return trip to the promised land may be a ways off.
Fire Ozzie, Bisciotti, all of them. I am done with this shit. I hate winning.
"Keep giving me W’s.You can’t ask for anything else. If you're not happy with the win, something is wrong" - Ray Lewis after Houston victory.
I just want to see the team show me they can win going away. Enough of these close games. The D no longer closes games out and the offense, for all of its talent, stalls way to much when they have a big lead. The team overall is too talented to be pulling this kind of crap. That was one of the worst defenses in the league they played last night and they couldn’t even rack up over 300 yards? Something’s wrong with this team. Blame who you want but SOMEONE isn’t doing their job right. It seems to be someone different every game, too. Whether it was a Flacco skipped pass to a wide open TE against the Steelers, the defense’s ability to NOT stop the two minute drill in pretty much any game so far this year, or Cam Cameron’s ability to call passes every time we have a third and short.
And yes, making the playoffs on a consistent basis are nice but at some point we DO become the Eagles or Chargers, making it year after year but never going anywhere. And nobody wants to be grouped with a Norv Turner team when it comes to the playoffs.
I will never stop supporting this team but they gotta pull it together and soon…

I can’t speak for anyone else but I’ve never seriously considered firing anyone on this team other than Cam Cameron. Harbaugh needs to take lessons in clock management and Mattison has to stop running a prevent defense with 8 minutes left in the game. But Cameron is KILLING us.
We don’t have a better offense because of Cameron, we have a better offense because for the first time we have a franchise quarterback. We have a great running back corp with an excellent Ray Rice (who Cam uses badly). We have 3 veteran receivers who all know how to catch the ball. We have, before he was injured, Heap who was playing one of his best seasons. Our O-line has a lot of talent when they are playing in their correct positions. Sadly, most of them are playing out of position.
We have a team with a TON of talent. As Mason said last week, there is no reason that we are not one of the best offenses in the league. Oh, other than the fact that the other teams know we only have 3 plays in our playbook and that when we play to lose to lead. Passing on 3rd and 2 on that last possession was one of the stupidest calls I’ve ever seen. Our play calling tries to make us lose games. It’s ridiculous.
We should be 12-1. We should have beaten the Patriots in Foxboro. We should have beaten the Falcons in Atlanta. We should have beaten the Steelers in our own house. I know, shoulda woulda coulda. I’m not arguing that “we should have won those games so the NFL should give us the wins”. I’m just saying that we need to look at our mistakes and learn from them. I saw Polomalu’s blitz repeated a couple times last night. It seemed to always work. That just seems to be the policy with our team now. “We won’t learn from our mistakes.” Yea we won. It’s great. Fantastic. I’m far more glad with a W than a L. But even with the best win there are some mistakes that need to be corrected. And this was far from the best win. Saying a win is a win is a win is quite possibly the worst thing we can do in this situation.
Sorry for the rant. If I’m outright wrong on something, feel free to call me on it. Also, why the hell is Brett Favre not continuing his streak more important than one of the greatest comebacks in football?

Right On!
Cam is the one to go. The Defense struggles late in games because of Cam’s 3 and outs. Why does Cam take the foot off the pedal when the offense has a lead?
Totally agree about 3 and outs
When you look at the quality teams they don’t have near the number of 3 and outs allowing their D to get some rest. Look at any team that doesn’t do well and their defense is on the field for a huge chunk of time during the game. The last two Ravens games the D has been on the field for over half the game ( I think around 34 minutes in each). We had no problem converting third down situations in the first half, so there is no reason we shouldn’t have been able to convert a decent chunk in the second half (yes I know the Texans D adjusted, but so should have our offense which we don’t seem to do well). We are STILL playing to not lose.
Absolutely agree. Until Cam learns how to remain aggressive in playcalling for an entire game, we are bound to repeat the same 4th quarter collapses.
With the way things are going now, we are only fooling ourselves to think this team will play in the Super Bowl.
This team is capable of much more, if only Cam would learn how to play call with a lead!
If less is more, imagine how much more more would be
Our defense blows leads because Mattison doesn't call plays aggressively late on which is what works for us early
Mattison doesn’t call aggressively because his players are gassed. Cam Cameron needs to be aggressive or at least maintain possession through running. In the end it comes down to him.
I know full well how crazy it sounds when we’re 2 games ahead of the pack and basically guaranteed a playoff spot for the third year straight but we’re capable of playing so much better than we have.
So true ....
Yeah we’re two games up …but nobody sets initial goals in the preseason to make the playoffs. It is to win the Superbowl, period.
After going to the AFC championship game two years ago, even last year was a bit disappointing to lose in the divisional round. This year will be no different, other than maybe the fans will be even more disappointed if we don’t at least go to the SB, let alone win. We are way too talented and like someone else stated, this may be the last good opportunity for Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, et.al. to win a SB
good stuff dude
You summed up my thoughts in a much more calm and reasonable manner than I could.

I understand what you saying. I believe we Ravens Fans should have every right to
be frustrated right now even the players are frustrated but we most still keep the faith in our team. I dont think that Cam Cameron is using Ray Rice wrong I mean this is the same player that went to the pro bowl in Cam Cameron system last year I think the fact that the offensive line is not giving Ray Rice much open space to move around is the reason why he not as good as he was last year. Jarred Gaither is really missed and I didnt think losing him would impact this offensive line so much but I think we can still get things fix
The O-line woes is preventing Rice’s production. But Rice is one of the best backs in the league in open space and how often do we see him in open space? We need more sweeps and pitches to the outside to stretch the run defense. The opponents can just stuff the box because they know its going to be an inside run.

Cameron
Cam Cameron one of the best offensive cord.? Completely disagree
i never knew there were so many delicate little flowers on here
People state the obvious fact that our inability to score in the 2nd half and letting a 21 pt lead turn into an overtime game and all of a sudden we’re not real fans and we’ve turned on the team. Bullshit. This isn’t some daytime TV womens talk show here, its okay for us to criticize the aspects of this team that we have a problem with. That’s what these blogs are for. If u can’t take hearing your fellow fans criticize the team, go out for the cheerleading squad.

its not even the case we all knew we lost key players like Dominque Foxworth andJared Gaither
when we started this season and we are still 9-4. I’m not saying that fans shouldn’t state their opinion about the team because its true of the fact that this team is not where it suppose to be; I am just saying atleast look at in a positive light that this team will move forward all this negative talk isnt helping the team or making anything better and its getting old. The Ravens suppose to have the best fans in the NFl well its time to act like it and continue to support this team becuase we help them get better as well just by being supporting fans
I DO support this team
I don’t know how else to say this. I AM A FAN! I LOVE THE RAVENS! I just don’t love what they did on Monday and I’m very concerned that they will do it again—only next time we might not be so fortunate to emerge there with a win!
You know how that Steelers fan was complaining about us saying we gave away the game? maryrose said “Oh I get it, when you lose you should have won, and when you won you should have won.” maryrose, wherever you are, on Monday, we should have LOST, but we escaped with a win, somehow.
I am just saying atleast look at in a positive light that this team will move forward all this negative talk isnt helping the team or making anything better and its getting old.
jazz20 our negative talk isn’t having any effect on this team at all. If negative talk hurts this team, then they’re a bunch of pussies and they should all be cut and replaced—but I’m 100% sure that isn’t the case.
we help them get better as well just by being supporting fans
no, fans don’t matter. If we scream real loud on Sunday, which we would do regardless, we can help the team. But come on dude you think this team is so soft that what I say on this blog will have a positive or negative effect on them? mmmmmm…. nah.
I feel fortunate to be 9-4 right now, because while we SHOULD be 12-1, we could also be something ugly like 7-6 if a few breaks hadn’t gone our way. But they didn’t and here we are. So I want us to fix these issues I’m talking about and I’m not really sorry if it gives you bad vibes or it upsets you.

Can't throw out Cam w/o doing the same to Harbaugh
Harbs hears the plays in his headset and can always overrule or set the stage. He chooses not to so the okay to manage comes from the top. That said, we are 9-4, so accept it and we’ll deal w/ it, or not, after the season.
aka 'Rexx'
nah man
Harbs delegates to his coaches. He empowers those under him, which is a good attribute in a leader.
How can you fire a guy with Harbs’ winning percentage?

I get Your Leadership
Qualities, and you raise a good point. But a leader also knows when he needs to put his arm around someone and he also knows when to shove their boot up their wazoo – and the later needs to be done right now. This is money time – there is very little margin for error and we cannot bank our season on crap-shoots, what-ifs and potential gifts from opposing QB’s.
I am not saying we should be rollin’ like the Patsies (as that is unrealistic), but a reasonable facsimile would be just fine.
No way Harbs leaves for a long time, and honestly it is quite dissappointing that the topic has even come up in Baltimore during a 3rd straight year where we will most likely be making the playoffs. But, I do think the talks of letting Cam go are indeed allowed. It is Harbaugh’s job to have full trust in Cam to make the right calls because that is what he was hired to do. It would be wrong for John to question each call by Cam, he can only try to help him when he falters and move onto the next one.
But if we do not get it done, then Cam has to go and John needs to take a long hard look at what he wants from this team.
"Keep giving me W’s.You can’t ask for anything else. If you're not happy with the win, something is wrong" - Ray Lewis after Houston victory.
my one worry
We’ve seen a lot of good coaching qualities from Harbs, but I’m not sure we’ve seen him make a really tough decision—like, firing cameron. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, and I’m not saying he doesn’t have the guts to do it, but Harbs does seem like a really emotional, buddy buddy guy and I’m worried that he might feel bad about firing Cameron.
In any event, vlad is right that Harbs needs to pull a Lovie on Cam like Lovie did to Martz and take a little more situational control over these decisions. And lespaul was right to blast me for even considering firing Cam midseason. But barring some remarkable about-faceby Cameron, I’m f’n done with this guy.

Unless a miraculous turn around by the offense in the last 3 games (we will need it to win out) I think it is almost safe to say that Cam is done. If anything like last night does happen again where the offense plays for 30 minutes instead of 60 (like we have in so many games this year) Cam will be out of here.
Agree with your theory about John being a buddy buddy guy. Him and Cam go way back and have been close friends for a very long time.

+1 I don’t think Harbs is the problem as much as Cam is. Harbs is a players coach that I feel the players do really love to play for. Cam on the other hand has players being vocal and questioning his play calling. Agree with the idea brought up in the past of going after Mcdaniels. I think we should be very aggressive this off-season when it comes to going after him.
I'll say this
Cam has until the end of the season to show me he can get the O going consistently with his play calling. No more of these questionable, at best, calls that leave the offense comatose for an entire half. If he can’t do that, I say we get as vocal as possible to voice our displeasure. They’re not going to axe him in the middle of the season (and they still probably won’t after) so he has at least 4 more games (no way they miss the playoffs) to prove he can get it done. Until then, let’s support our team and hope they can win that Super Bowl we know they have the talent to do.

I liked what Cam did last year in the playoffs and during Flacco's rookie year.
We need to win the time of possession battle. Us fans can only hope that he remembers what he did back then.
