Moss, Merriman Claimed off Waivers
Two former All-Pro players officially have new teams after today's waiver wire was closed. The biggest name was WR Randy Moss, who was released by the Minnesota Vikings, who had recently traded a third round draft pick to the New England Patriots for Moss. Randy will now be calling Tennessee home, as the Titans were the first team in reverse order of the standings to put a waiver claim in for him.
Former San Diego Charger LB Shawne Merriman was immediately claimed by the first team in line to make a claim. The Buffalo Bills may be winless in this 2010 season, but they still seem to be trying to win and have come oh so close the past two weeks, losing both times in overtime. Perhaps the addition of Merriman will make the difference between winning and losing for them.
The Baltimore Ravens were reportedly interested in bringing in native son Shawne to aid in improving their lackluster pass rush, but now will either have to try to entice the Bills to trade for him or look elsewhere for additional help.
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

hmmmmmm so I wonder how will the ravens handle the lack of outside linebacker
depth now? I still cant see The Ravens going through the rest of the season with just one outside linebacker backing up Jarret Johnson & Terrell Suggs so they either going to have to resign Edgar Jones or could promote outside linebacker Albert Mcclellan to the active roster from practice squad also they could convert one of their middle linebackers like tarvares gooden to the outside linebacker position
yeah
it’s a pretty iffy situation there… and the Pass Rush is pretty middle-of-the-pack.
Ngata and Suggs just plain ol need to do more.

I’m not sure that you can really ask Ngata to do more. He’s really been lighting it up so far, even compared to his usually high standards.

Ngata is drawing constant double teams and still gets the occasional sack and plenty of tackles
Can’t ask much more of him. Suggs/JJ/Gregg/Krugar/Redding need to step it up and make use of the holes he opens up.
Wish we still had Pryce.

Yea, Ngata is ripping it up this year. If he does anymore, someone’s children will be eaten.

you’re right, I’m not being critical of Ngata’s play this year—nor Suggs’ really. But somehow, someway, someone has to get a sack or two more. I don’t care who, just step up.

Yea, the entire defense needs to step it up, and that includes Ngata and Suggs, is what you were saying.
* Last year, Flacco became the fourth starting quarterback since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to reach the playoffs in his first two years in the league (Ben Roethisberger, Bernie Kosar and Dan Marino are the other three).
* Flacco is third on the list for most wins by a starting quarterback (28) since 2008, trailing only the Indianapolis Colts’ Peyton Manning (33) and Drew Brees (29) of the New Orleans Saints. Impressive company.
* Flacco is currently the hottest NFL quarterback. Since the Ravens’ 15-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 19, when he threw four picks, Flacco has the league’s highest quarterback rating at 105.0. He’s also thrown 102 straight passes without an interception.
Go back to Delaware Joe, you are overrated.
i guess
i just want more sacks and better gap discipline on the edges. Those two things have been our problem areas. Maybe the bye week will have made a difference.

Told you we should have benched him after that game…

one thing i hate though
is counting the number of pass attempts without an INT. Because you know, sooner or later, an INT is coming. They’re bound to happen. I feel like its a jinx or something…

Of course they are going to come, but doesn’t mean it has to be this week.

it doesn't have to be any week
it never HAS to happen at all. But sooner or later, it will

Mathmatically it does have to happen eventually though.
And judging by the numbers it’ll happen soon.
That said as the Bengals game proved interceptions don’t necessarily turn into points for the other team though having too many of them hurts our ability to score. I don’t think throwing an int per game is all that bad. Long as you get 2-3 TD’s in that game.

An interception per game would be a big step back for Flacco. He threw 12 in each of 2008 and 2009, and is on course for a similar showing this year. Given that his passing attempts increased from 2008 to 2009, and may increase again from 2009 to 2010, a steady 12 interceptions per season over the first three seasons of his career seems reasonable to me.
And judging by the numbers it’ll happen soon.
I wouldn’t be surprised. Flacco’s had a very nice streak going recently.

Might like this Amp, these guys chew me out about Flacco on a daily basis. Mostly in the comments.

I think it's a good situation for him
second only to Bellicheck, Fisher has a monarchical control over his team that is hard to match. You get with the effing program over there in Tennessee.
