It’s pretty late at the moment. I’ll try to find a source when I get some time tomorrow. Until then, this is just hearsay.

According to Pro Football Talk, Nike is officially taking over jersey production from Reebok in 2012. From CNBC:

We plan on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we’ve done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available. The NFL program hasn’t had the same type of advancement in recent years.

It’s increasingly looking like that Ravens jersey above is fan art from somebody called El ramster, though.

Finally tracked it down. This image (and another for the Ravens, as well as many for other teams via the link if you’re interested) was created by a friend of “El ramster.” I’m definitely not a fan of the Lewis jersey with all the yellow.

Here are the fan art jerseys. These are not going to be used by Nike (as far as I know), but are still interesting.

on the Ray Lewis one, whats up with those stripes that draw unecessary attention to the crotch area? I think that’s probably not okay.

Wow, they look like jerseys that belong in NFL Europa. Man I hope this does not happen, those jerseys are ugly.

My understanding is that these uniforms are stylistic impressions based upon some jerseys Nike did for the NCAA. There’s no guarantee that the 2012 jerseys will look anything like this. I’m with you, though; I hope Nike shows a little class with the NFL.

I don’t mind the one that Ray Rice has on, that one actually looks alright. But the one on Ray Lewis looks atrocious.

Keep our current jerseys, I have always like the plain color scheme. These jerseys would make us look like the Bengals.

I think the worst ones I saw on that link were KC, Cinci and NE. Man, those Bengals uniforms with tiger stripes going all throughout the pants looked like some terrible style from the 80’s.

Some of the ones this guy created are awful

The Bengals and Jaguars ones are the worst, though the Chiefs one is pretty bad too.

Is there some significance to those colors (beyond gay pride) that I don’t know about? Why those specific colors for the Steelers?

My exact thoughts

What the eff is with that stupid arm band? And the font on the number is disgustingly ugly.

Pretty Suckish

The Patriots one is pretty badass though.
