WEEK 10 @NFLFOOTBALLINFO TWEETS OF THE WEEK
Following are the “Tweets of the Week” from the @NFLFootballInfo Twitter feed:
· @ NFLFootballInfo: For 14 consecutive years, 5+ clubs make playoffs that missed year B4. Thru Week 9, 14 clubs that missed playoffs in '09 are .500+
For 14 consecutive seasons, the NFL has had at least five teams make the playoffs that were not in the postseason the year before. Six clubs – Cincinnati, Dallas, Green Bay, New England, New Orleans and the New York Jets – accomplished the feat in 2009.
To date, 14 clubs that did not advance to postseason play in 2009 have a .500 record or better. Seven of those franchises – Atlanta (7-2), Kansas City (5-3), the New York Giants (6-2), Pittsburgh (6-2), St. Louis (4-4), Seattle (4-4) and Tennessee (5-3) – possess or share the best record of their respective divisions.
· @ NFLFootballInfo: No surprise this game (Baltimore at Atlanta) is close. 66.9% of games in 2010 have been within 7 points in 4th quarter
In the first Thursday night game broadcast on the NFL Network this year, Atlanta quarterback MATT RYAN led a seven-play, 72-yard touchdown drive in the final minute that propelled the Falcons to a 26-21 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Including Thursday night’s contest, 88 of the 131 games (67.2 percent) played this season have been within seven points or fewer at some point in the fourth quarter, including 16 of the 21 primetime matchups (76.2 percent).
Fourth-quarter action has remained tight as 56.5 percent of games (74 of 131) have been determined by eight points or fewer, on pace for the highest percentage of one-score games in a season since the two-point conversion was instituted in 1994.
· @ NFLFootballInfo: Michael Vick today joined Randall Cunningham & Steve Young as only QBs ever w/ 4,200 career rushing yards
Philadelphia quarterback MICHAEL VICK rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown last week against Indianapolis. Vick now has 4,215 career rushing yards and joins RANDALL CUNNINGHAM (4,928 rushing yards) and Pro Football Hall of Famer STEVE YOUNG (4,239 rushing yards) as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to record at least 4,200 rushing yards.
Vick’s 7.2 yards per rush is the highest average among all quarterbacks since 1970 who have accrued more than 500 rushing yards.
· @ NFLFootballInfo: Randle El completes 80.8% (21-26) career reg sea pass w/ 5 TDs, 0 INT, 157.5 rating. Best comp pct & rating ever for players w/ 20+ att.
Pittsburgh wide receiver ANTWAAN RANDLE EL, who threw a 39-yard touchdown pass on Monday night, has completed 21 of 26 regular-season passes (80.8 percent) in his career for 320 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions for a 157.5 passer rating, just shy of the maximum possible rating (158.3). That is the highest completion percentage and passer rating among players with at least 20 attempts in NFL history.
· @ NFLFootballInfo: Terrell Owens now has 51 career 100-yard rec. games, passing Don Maynard for 4th most in NFL history (Rice, Moss, Harrison)
Cincinnati wide receiver TERRELL OWENS caught 10 passes for 141 yards against Pittsburgh last Monday and recorded his third 100-yard receiving game of 2010. Owens has registered 100-yards receiving in 51 career games, surpassing Pro Football Hall of Famer DON MAYNARD (50) for the fourth-most such games in NFL history.
