Former Towson U. and NYG RB Dave Meggett Sentenced to 30 Years
Former standout running back at Towson University and later in the NFL with the New York Giants, Dave Meggett, was sentenced to 30 years in prison yesterday. His sentence was handed down in a South Carolina courtroom, where Meggett was charged with criminal sexual misconduct and burglary, which basically means rape.
Meggett played college ball at Morgan State and Towson before be signed by the Ne York Giants. He earn two Pro Bowl berths, a Walter Peyton Award and a Suer Bowl ring with the Giants. His son is playing on the University of Maryland football team. Now Meggett, age 42, will essentially spend the rest of his life in jail, although he plans to appeal the decision.
