j-man's Breakdown of New England

QB-  T.  Brady:  You can't let  him get in a mode, sit in the pocket and dink, you have to rattle him.

RB- They use four: Morris, Woodhead, Taylor and BJGE. Taylor is their best but can't stay on the field. You have to worry about  Woodhead catching passes out of the backfield. Morris is their short-yardage guy. FB- You will see BJGE a lot but in my opinion has lack of  speed.

WR-  W. Welker is big time possession receiver. Brady will go to him 15-20 times in a game if you let him. J. Edelman, a slot guy who can hurt you if you let him. B. Tate: Their replacement for Moss but is a raw route runner with average size, can be jammed and very fast though great kick returner. T. Price will see more action without Moss around now.

TE- Gronkowski: Brady likes him in the Red Zone, soft hands, growing into a solid player. Hernandez  can catch also, but not as good as Gronkowski, but close.

LT- M. Light is slowing down, solid but no longer elite. LG- D. Connolly is an okay run blocker, has improved. C- D. Koppen, a solid starter, but not much more that that. RG- S. Neal: can run block well but can be beat with speed. RT- S. Vollier is a nice player, I think as good or better than M. Light.

DE- G. Warren: nice fit in NE system, although he has flashes of inconsistency at times. DE- M. Wright: an underrated "try-hard" guy. DT- V. Wilfork: a great 3-4 DT, one of the top 2 or 3 DT in the NFL.

OLB- R. Ninkovich: played great last week, another "try-hard" guy, can rush the passer through. ILB- J. Mayo: tackles well, nice speed, very solid. ILB- B. Spikes: a very good draft pick, learning on the job.

DT- Banta Cain: a lot like Ninkovich, excect better pass rush skills.

CB- D. Butler: will make some good plays and bad plays, very inconsistent. D. McCourty: same as Butler but with more speed. Whitley/Willette: OK guys, not good starters and you can pick on them.

S- B. Merriweather: a littie overrated, and will go for the big hit. P. Chung is a ball-hawking smart safety who is always in the right place at the right time.

K- S. Gostkowski is having an off year and is overrated by the media.

P- Mekro has been OK
