BROWNS KR-WR JOSHUA CRIBBS
NAMED AFC PLAYERS OF MONTH FOR DECEMBER/JANUARY
Quarterback PHILIP RIVERS of the San Diego Chargers, cornerback DARRELLE REVIS of the New York Jets and kick returner-wide receiver JOSHUA CRIBBS of the Cleveland Browns are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Month for December/January, the NFL announced today.

- Rivers completed 93 of 137 passes (67.9 percent) for 1,316 passing yards with nine touchdowns versus three interceptions and a 111.5 passer rating as San Diego posted a 5-0 record.

- His 111.5 passer rating was an NFL-best during the month and his nine touchdown passes tied for second-best in the league.

- In 2009, Rivers became the first Charger to record a 100+ passer rating in consecutive seasons (105.5 in 2008; 104.4 in 2009).
- In his sixth season from North Carolina State, this is Rivers’ second career Player of the Month Award. He previously won the award in December of 2008.
DEFENSE: CB DARRELLE REVIS, NEW YORK JETS
- Revis recorded two interceptions, 18 tackles and 13 passes defensed as he helped the Jets post a 4-1 record in the month and clinch an AFC Wild Card spot.
- During the month, Revis helped the Jets defense limit opponents to 8.2 points per game, 182.8 yards per game, 16.9 percent on third downs (11 of 65), four touchdowns, 51 first downs and held opposing quarterbacks to a 43.3 completion percentage and a 40.8 passer rating. All rank first in the NFL during that span.
- In 2009, Revis helped the Jets defense rank first in NFL in points allowed per game (14.8), yards allowed per game (252.3) & passing yards allowed per game (153.7).
- In his third year from Pittsburgh, this is Revis’ first Player of the Month Award. He is the first Jets defensive player to win the award since JOHN ABRAHAM in October of 2004.
SPECIAL TEAMS: KR-WR JOSHUA CRIBBS, CLEVELAND BROWNS
- Cribbs led the NFL with two kickoff-return touchdowns and totaled an AFC-best 527 kickoff-return yards (31.0 average) during the month as the Browns posted a 4-1 record.

He recorded his seventh and eighth career kick-return touchdowns, the most in NFL history. Cribbs entered the game tied with five other players – Pro Football Hall of Famers OLLIE MATSON and GALE SAYERS, TRAVIS WILLIAMS, MEL GRAY and DANTE HALL – for the most kick-return touchdowns in league annals with six. He joined Miami’s TED GINN, JR., as the only players in NFL history with two touchdowns of at least 100 yards in the same game. He is the ninth player in NFL history with two kick-return touchdowns in a game.
