Jim Zorn Hired. Another bad decision. Who made that one?
Ravens starting to make some bad moves. Excuse me, not starting, just continuing. Let me run down a few you may or may not remember. Deon Sanders. That was a joke. Steve Mcnair over Drew Brees. Yes ravens fans, Drew Brees was available the year we went with Steve Mcnair. (RIP) Wouldn't we like to dream if we had gotten Brees. Im sure Ray had something to do with that. And most recently, Not giving Rex Ryan head coaching job. Yes I believe that was a mistake. Of course Matt Stover. Pretty obvious there. I believe Ravens are going backwards with the management and or coaches. I hope I'm wrong. Only time will tell with Zorn. BUT I DON"T LIKE IT!!!!!!!

ok
i don’t know much about jim zorn but i have seen that he had a great career with teaching quarterbacks as a quarterback coach head coach is different from quarter back coach and wow you really think that rex ryan would have made a different if he was the coach i mean for real he would had been able to stop this team from making penalties becuase it wasn’t the coaches that didn’t do there job it was the players we beat our self in the game, one player can’t make a difference and when we got steve mcnair didnt we have the good season when we got him did the saints go to the play off doing that time no i don’t think so
How many playoff wins with Mcnair? Answer: Zero Brees was in NFC championship game in his first year with Saints. Mcnair was washed up when we got him. Brees was hitting his best years. No Contest there. Time will tell on Rex Ryan. But if you ask me Rex should of been given job. Nothing against Harbaugh. But Rex has the Players Respect. And already was an Insider. Who cares if he is a little goofy. Maybe that is why he didnt get job. But Owner made that call.
key to it all
WE have the superbowl team, but without Rex Ryan, there is no respect. Harbaurgh is a pussy, and I have seen him go to a player to correct him, and the player ignored him and pushed his hand off his shoulder. With me, your benched until you learn respect or stop making penalities. Number 1 in pass interference. What was the Jets, probably in the 30th because they had the number one D – fense and it was not because of the D – fensive coor, no – REX RYAN!!!!!! The players do not respect John because Ryan is in your face. He just got a 50,000 fine for flipping people off at a MMA fight!!! He has balls something John lacks!!! John does have heart so we will see how it goes. The coaching staff is what lost games for us on top of the main office before the season started, they screwed us. Make the right desicion, not the calculated ones. Penalties, lack of effort by players ( except Ray Rice, Ed Reed, and Ray Lewis) and passive play calling. Ray needs to slow down on the illegal hits. I also though that some bad officating was going on as well. When did the officals become so bad at doing their jobs.
Last time I saw the Jets play
they lost to the Colts just like us. In fact, Rex’s defenses have rarely if ever, beaten a real tough team. He rarely beat the Steelers, Colts or Pats while here in Baltimore. As in your face as he is, he doesn’t get on the field and if Ray Lewis can’t excite a player to play balls to the wall like he does, Rex can’t either.

McNaire couldn’t throw over 30 yards on a good day. He had more padding on him than the Michelin Man. He did a lot of good things but it wasn’t a building move. With the team we had then he was actually a good choice. We had the team “to win now.” We needed a vet. I thought Warner or Garcia would have been better at that point. Steve was fine.
As far as Rex Ryan goes, he lost many games with his D’s in the 4th quarter. He gave up a ton of last minute drives to put a fork in us. His record against the big teams wasn’t that great either..actually poor. A lot of those games we had the lead late in the game. He was called off the rush and went dime with the games on the line. He did the same thing with the Jets. I think Rex will be a good coach over time. He had a lucky year this year. His team wasn’t a playoff caliber team. What Rex gives Rex takes away. Just like his time outs.
13-3 in 2006 was not a bad year
McNair played great other than the Colts playoff game and it was downhill from then on for him. Most everyone was psyched when we got him. Brees went to the NFC Championship Game that year but got blown out by the Bears, who lost to the team that beat us, so big deal. Remember, football is a team game and although looking back, Brees seems better now, it was a great move then for us.
Zorn is the QB coach and not going to make a huge difference on the field. He might help, but give the guy a break as there’s a huge difference between a QB coach and a head coach.

The Qb coach is basically invisible anyway. I hope Flacco turns Brett Favre and just does what he wants.
If he did he would have over 100 sacks from lack of mobility

No
he will be good, remember he went to deleware and he isn’t G-d. Give him time most QB’s turn around their 3rd yr
And also I don't really see Flacco in the dog fighting buisness....

This is getting really absurd...
Jim Zorn was a quiality hire as a QB coach. Personally, I think it will work out better than Jackson would have. Anyone who is judging Zorn’s capabilities based on the Washington Redskins job has really no idea what they are talking about. Zorn, remember, was hired as a coordinator with the Skins then vaulted into the HC job after Gibbs left. During his time as a HC he hadn’t even been a coordinator yet. So, let’s do the right thing and include his work in Seattle into the assessment. In Seattle he groomed an inexperienced QB into a Super Bowl – caliber , Pro Bowl – caliber player. Hasslebeck also had a sub-par receiving corps (sound familiar). And let’s not forget, that Seattle picked up Trent Dilfer @ the same time Hasslebeck arrived on the scene, so its not like the organization deemed him as their QB-of-the-future by that point.
+1

What I'm hoping for
Is that Zorn’s experience as a QB coach in a west coast offensive system will help Joe learn to make faster reads of the defense. I think that it will also help him be able to find other recievers other than his primary during blitz situations. I dunno, just hoping for that, i think its quality hire.
see open receiver. throw to open receiver. get rushed, do it quicker. rocket science? man, we overkill sports.
Try just stepping up into the pocket
and escape the pass rush to buy you time to throw a completion.
aka 'Rexx'
Like M-Vick used to do
Except he never did the pass part of that routine, he just ran for 15 yards

Flacco step up in the pocket? LOL. Like he steps into his deep balls? LOL. Joe loves to roll out or drop back so far he leaves his protection. I’d hate to cover his blind side. May as well let the D have the inside move because Joe is 15 yards deep.
2nd best "back foot" thrower in league
behind Favre.
PS- Did you see the brusies Favre had from the beating he took in the NFC Championship Game? They are on BaltimoreRavens.com but you can see the link here.
Ouch.

maybe it is a positive
Zorn was with a pathetic team with a terrible front office, so give the guy a break. He is back to doing what got him the head coach job as QB coach. Flacco needs it since we are keeping him around. Cam Cameron needs a little help with play calling since he sucks!!!!!! This could only help Flacco the way he is playing in the endzone. Stats do not matter when you do not score in the REDZONE because this league is about winnning!!!!!!! Think of all the games we could have won if Sacko would have scored, instead of throwing an int after an 80yd passing drive. Zorn has been around for a while and is looking to redemn himself to work up to another head coach position. It is sad that the fans know what to do but the front office doesn’t. All us die-hard ravens fan pretty much agree on the same issues of what is causing the Ravens to beat themselves every game they lost in 2009 season. Sometimes it was painful to watch the Ravens drop passes or all the stupid penalties that voided out big game winning plays. It was Yes, Wait, No Good!!!! It was always some unrelated player that got a stupid pen for pushing someone down or other stupid mistakes that wouldn’t have happen with a stronger head coach. We are the RAVENS!!!!!! Come on get it together team. I am still with my team though and I represent where I am from MD. Go Ravens!!! Ray Rice is our offense period, and the f-ing top dawg!!!!!!
Sound pretty passionate, Max
and I share your frustrations about our RZ offense and the mistakes Joe made there this season. Until he can put points, meaning TD’s in there and stop losing on FG’s while other teams score TD’s, he will not join that elite group of NFL QB’s. Let’s hope we see a big jump in 2010!

I agree Maximus. Personal fouls and other selfish play starts at the player top with the Ravens. There’s always been a disconnect with reality with some of our leaders. Some of them need to realize that they are not gladiators or Zulu warriors but are in a league with rules. We lead the league in penalties. Isn’t that supposed to be reserved for the worst team in football.
Actually, Ozzie Newsome said at today's Press Conference
that of the teams at or near the top of being most penalized, 10 of the 12 playoff teams were right up there with the Ravens. It’s aggressive teams that make the post season and while the frustrations bothered Newsome and Bisciotti, they both said they would not change the level of aggression the guys play with.

Zorn had more weapons on O with the Skins then we have. They have 3 legit receivers, a great TE and some rock hard RB’s. Their line stunk but their QB wasn’t exactly demanding respect. The Skins also had a decent D. They lost some weird games by turnover or FG. They had the Saints and Cowboys beat but threw those games away. The Skins aren’t too far off from a Wild Card birth.
One solid receiver in DC
their RB’s couldn’t play on our team and their o-line stunk. More weapons, give me a break! We had way more offense than them across the board.

Jim Zorn
I don’t know how Zorn can get a pass———-Jason Campbell actually regressed under Zorn’s leadership and tutelage. In Seattle under Holmgren we know Holgrem was responsible for the development of Hasslebeck and not Jim Zorn. I am not saying that Zorn did not make a contribution but ……….Holmgren did everything on the offensive side of the ball (Qb coach by trade).
So how will Zorn affects Flacco’s ascension or decension? I hope it is positve. The jury is still out for me.
