Ed Reed Expecting To Play in 2010

According to good friend Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, it looks pretty good that Baltimore Ravens All Pro safety Ed Reed will return for his 9th NFL season in 2010. Reed, the 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, has been speculating retirement even though he was selected to his 7th Pro Bowl this season. He had been dealing with hip and groin injuries this season that caused him to miss four games towards the end of the season and has had a nagging neck injury for a few seasons now.

Luckily, he will have the off season to rest and recover so he can be back there patrolling the secondary for at least one more year in purple and black.

See Aaron Wilson's full National Football Post story here.

Hopefully we can get him completely healthy and have him come back strong next season. If he’s healthy he is still a big time game changer.

I heard yesterday that Zbikowski was an alternate for the pro-bowl because of injuries and the Superbowl stuff. That should say something about who we have to take over for Reed when the time comes.

Unfortunately, it should also say

something about the Pro Bowl if Zbi, no harm meant, makes it, even as an alternate!

Seems like yesterday when Ed Reed made a pick as a rookie and held the ball high as he ran to the end zone against the Bengals….Only to have it batted out of his hand from behind as he showboated. Too funny. I hope he’s back. Maybe time to move him into the slot as a receiver.

by raven on Jan 28, 2010 1:57 PM EST reply actions

Wait, wasn't that this year?

No, that was a different fumble after a pick, or two.

Reed has to be the quietest star player on the planet. He’s one of those guys you listen too when he talks. A man of feew words. Maybe he can run for Mayor of B-more. He’s be great. I’d like to see either him or Edwin Mulatalu as Mayor.

Why Edwin?

Huge heart

and belly. No one would mess with him if he decided to keep gift cards.

Because he’s a cool dude and donates musical instruments to schools. That’s enough to improve B-more. He’s used to living with less coming from the islands. He can teach B-more how to roast pigs over an open flame wrapped in leaves and dance around the fire without crack. Sheeesh, you have to ask.

Question- We have a lot of readers but very few log in to post or comment. What’s up with that?

Do you think they would if Warrior and I left? We can reincarnate ourselves into B-more Wade and Maryland Chad and come back more enlightened.

by raven on Jan 28, 2010 2:47 PM EST reply actions

I fall into that category

For me, its because i spend most of my time on other SBN sites (primarily Camden Chat) and generally just come here for news about the Ravens. I waste enough time on CC, actively being involved in two communities is tough.

Agree

I waste my time my time on here. Huge fan of Wizards, Orioles and Terps but just cannot find time to get into it with all the off-topic BS going on here.

Malor, you're a wiz fan?

When I lived in Annapolis I’d go to 10 games a season or so. The perfect work night out. Fuck, have the wheels come off this season. That’s sayin somethin considering how shitty last season was. That franchise had a golden opportunity to scoop up some fans with the redskins shitting the bed so fully this year. DC is a hockey city now.

Never worried about Ed

He won’t be able to steo away from the game like that. He will die on the field!(hopefully not)

FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phew

If Reed comes back then there should be little argument against getting a WR, but if he’s gone, it will be a difficult choice.

Get the best player at either position. No sense getting a lesser player just to fill the more obvious gap. If you can get a dominant WR or S get them.

We can't lose Reed...

If we did, who else would sport the Kimbo Slice beard?

THANK GOD!!!!

I figured it was just a whim by Ed but thank God he is back. I can’t imagine the team without him especially if he were to retire before Ray and then Ray went too? God can you imagine that! I knew though….its been too short a career and he’s been too good to just walk away. Let’s get him that ring before he goes.
