Ravens Practice Squad Announced
The Baltimore Ravens have released their practice squad list and the few players that cleared waivers and were welcomed back to join the team for the season. There are 7 players total that made it, and the list is what I expected basically.
- WR - Justin Harper: Not surprised by this one, as this was the guy that I was 100% sure would at least make our practice squad after being "cut" by us yesterday. He has shown some serious skill in his ability to get separation and is a big body to have at WR. Just needs to learn how to catch the ball....
- WR - Eron Riley: This is the one player that most of us should be very happy with. Riley is a big time threat and out of all the Wide Receivers who were on the bubble this summer, no one impressed more than Riley did. He is a go getter when it comes to catching the ball and his big play ability that Eron showed against Atlanta must have locked him up a roster spot. Good for Riley, who was undrafted out of Duke. Watch out for this guy.
- OL - Stefan Rodgers: Do not know too much about him, but he leaves us with good depth. He might be the first guy to go if we sign another player to the Practice Squad.
- OL - Joe Reitz: Performed fairly well throughout the summer and provides many options along the offensive line. Reitz can play more than one position and knows the system well.
- OL/DL - Bryan Mattison: Son of Defensive Coordinator Gregg Mattison, Bryan may have made the team because of daddy. Then again, he looked good in some of the training camp practices and looks to be better suited at DL in my opinion, although the needed depth is on the o-line.
- LB/DE - William VanDeSteeg: Do not know too much about the guy and nothing really stood out during the pre-season games, but coaches must like something. He had a nice interception in Camp and always seemed to be around the ball in the few chances he got.
- S - K.J. Gerrard: This is one of the players that most fans wanted to make the team, only thing is that we need CB more than we do S. Hopefully Gerrard will be able to make the transition like Webb has made and can contribute to our nickel and dime packages in the future.
- As for a few other notes, RB Cedric Peerman was claimed by the Cleveland Browns (why am I not surprised), TE Davon Drew was claimed by the Miami Dolphins, and WR Yamon Figurs was claimed by the Detroit Lions.
Congratulations to seven eight players above who ground it out during this intense summer. The team can stash as many as eight players on the Practice Squad, so expect at least one more addition and perhaps some changes this week and throughout the season. Many Ravens players in the past have sneaked onto the team undrafted or through the Practice Squad and ended up being big time contributors to our team. Lets hope that a few of these guys can take us to where we need to go.
Post Publication Note: The team added previously released TE Isaac Smolko to the Practice Squadon Monday.
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

Not sure if it was posted anywhere else here, but the Browns added RB Cedric Peerman to their 53-man roster. Interesting to see three receivers on one practice squad.

Yea, I just updated the post with Peerman going to the Browns. He is a strong runner, but did not fit our system. With Jamal basically going down the drain, Peerman may have a chance on your squad. I think James Davis is going to be a monster to.
And yes, 3 WR is a little strange. However, we only had 4 make the actual game day 45 man roster.

William Van De Steeg
Practice with first team a lotin trainning camp, since day 1 he was ahead Jason Phillips and sometimes he play in Suggs place ahead Kruger…
I really think he is a great proyect
THE MEXICAN RAVEN
Actually, neither did the Ravens
The Press Release I got didn’ty have Wheelwright on it and that’s from the team’s PR Dept., so I’m questioning the inclusion of him. According to the team, it only signed seven to the Practice Squad.
Check your source, MaLoR, but thanks for the post, which I was going to do tomorrow (I may just edit to update the date and time and put it on the Front Page if you don’t mind.

Well
As soon as the report came out, it originally had Wheelwright on the list and even his picture was the main picture for the article. I know I am not mistaken on that, but now the list does not have him on there. Guess there was a mistake with the report, but he was there earlier. I’ll remove him.

If you go to this blog from BaltimoreRavens.com, you can see in the “Tags” at the bottom of the first blog entry that Wheelwright is tagged. They took him out of the story now.

Probably removed for Packers Tony Moll
even though he wasn’t on it before Moll trade was announced.

How come every god damn game, they always show him and Sandusky sitting in the booth, and Stan is always eating Papa Johns and Sandusky shuns away from it acting like the Pizza is going to go straight to his hips.

Sandusky prides himself
on being in shape. He runs sprints with the coaches after Practice at Westminster and tries to keep up. Not bad shape for 47 year old. Not as good as Viviano, who runs marathons and is real fit.

I want an
Eron Riley jersey. After watching Harper drop two certain touchdowns, its was really nice to see the kid from Duke drag two Falcons into the end zone with him. I can’t even imagine the amount of pressure he placed on himself just to walk out there and he managed to do the best he could.

Exactly. I think it is always incredible for a guy who went undrafted to just make a 53 man roster, especially a roster like the Ravens. We should remember also that Riley put up muchhhhh better stats and just as good combine numbers as Heyward-Bey did.

Other than the last game of pre-season...
he was constantly burned and did nothing. Too little, too laate plus a stacked secondary made him expendable. See how he hasn’t been swiped up since then by another team?

I have fallen in love Eron Reiley.
Even though he’s a Dookie.

So have I. I hate everything duke but how can you hate a team that wins only 2 games a year? I think he has some serious skills. Now if we took Greg paulis after tearing it up at cuse, I might become a steeler fan.

paulis looked good

He looks like a sad dog. But he definitely can play QB. Has a great pump fake with his shoulders.
