Breaking Down Ray Lewis' "Play"
Mike Duffy of BaltimoreRavens.com posted a great story on the breakdown of what happened before, during and after the incredible play that Ray Lewis made to seal the 31-26 victory over the San Diego Chargers this past Sunday. The play epitomizes the greatness that is the Ravens All Pro and sure Hall of Famer, much less the best linebacker to ever play the game.

Good article by Duffy, “Gasps… of respect” is kind of a strange way to word it, but I get the idea.. Nice photo too, for as much crap as I hear about Rivers, I was surprised to see a shot of him congratulating Ray. Figured him for one of those that would just go sulk after a tough loss, guess you can’t believe everything you hear..
Yeah
you’re right, that game was probably karma catching up with him..still good to see him showing Ray the respect he deserves..
Trust me, Rivers is STILL sulking
Think he wanted to run the ball on 4th down!?

Rivers is okay. I like the guy. He wants to win but, unfortunately, he’s under Norv. he’ll get huge numbers but will will be brain farted in the red zone and in the last few minutes of a game. Check the Redskins stats and records under Norv. He was king of 4th quarter loses. When you measure a coach the most.
“Sure, 11 of his tackles in Qualcomm Stadium were of the typically-impressive Lewis sideline-to-sideline variety. But his final stop, the 12th, was a true example of why Lewis is thought of as one of the best in history”.
This sums it up for me.
This guy seems to disagree
When you watch the ball on this play, it appears that Lewis did something spectacular — somehow he got into the backfield to tackle the runner for a game-winning play! Take your eyes off the ball and instead watch Lewis — all he does is run straight ahead at the snap through an opening left by the San Diego offensive line. No one so much as stepped into his path.
Nothing spectacular, just run in and tackle the guy because no one bothered to block. Sniffing out the play and the perfect timing was just ordinary stuff any schmoe could do.
Might have been "ordinary" for Ray
but “spectacular” for most others. I agree with the TMQ statement, knowing how Ray prepares. Just another play that most Ravens fans are used to but the national media and fans of other teams are deeming him too slow and old, while we and now they, know differently.
No big deal, just keep doubting us all year long, guys!

Ordinary if perfect read and execution is ordinary
Ray claps his hands Eyes open wide. kelly Gregg swipes three guys to open a whole big enough to leave Ray Ray open to get into their back field untouched. remember he was in the same place when rivers flipped the ball side stepping for a game changing interception that gave Ravens 7. The defensive line is what makes or breaks a great linebacker. Rays been great every year . study the game read the play coming but still needs the defensive line to keep the big offensive line from blocking him out. so Great Read great tackle but my vote goes out to The kelly Gregg and the boys for allowing Ray to be the super star.
Is thathow it's supposed to be
the way it was with Goose and Sam Adams tying up the o-line so Ray could make the plays? That’s “Raven ordinary.” Get used to it, NFL and fans and media, we see it all the time!

Ray RULES
I can watch that play again and again. When I saw it last week I knew immediately it was Ray. That is on his highlight reel for life! This is the result of watching films like Ray does so religiously.
only norv runs in that situation after torching us in the passing game.
calssic norv- 3rd down in the redzone with 10 seconds left. he doesn’t even try to score a TD BUT kicks on 3rd down!!! LOL. how can he justify being a coach at any level leaving time and a down on the field for just 3 points in a flippin scoring shootout.
