Check out the new "NFL RedZone"

The NFL Network has premiered their new channel, called NFL RedZone. It is being advertised all over the SB Nation Blogs and looks to be great for us football freaks that can't get enough of news and highlights. Unfortunately, it is not (yet) available on Comcast, but apparently it is on Verizon FiOs, among other cable and satellite providers.

Check out this link and more info after the "Jump"

NFL Network launched NFL RedZone on Sunday.  The new channel, available on AT&T,  Comcast, DISH Network, RCN, Verizon FiOs and other distributors, was praised by media and fans who watched it.

Here’s a video link of highlights from the debut show on Sunday followed by reviews and fan comments:

Multichannel News: NFL Scores a Touchdown September 14, 2009 By Scott Greczkowski

With the official kickoff of Sunday football action the NFL scored a touchdown this weekend with fans across the country.

The NFL season kicked off with a touchdown with the kickoff of the new NFL RedZone channel. The NFL RedZone Channel is the best thing to happen to the NFL since the invention of the instant replay! I am not a big football fan but the NFL RedZone had me glued to my set on Sunday afternoon.

Whats so great about it? Every great play from the Red Zone from every team, with no blackouts, and no commercials. On air host Scott Hanson knows his football and hosted the entire days events without error.

Football fans that are Dish Network customers seemed to be thrilled with the new RedZone coverage. The online message forums at SatelliteGuys.US lit up with happy comments from many football fans.

OrlandoSGM wrote, "Enjoying the Red Zone all afternoon! It’s Sunday Football for ADD people!"

TSC said, I had no intension of subscribing to the $5.99 multi-sports package to get this channel.. but by 2PM or so, after reading people’s reactions and descriptions of the channel, I decided to get it."

ESPN.com’s Page 2: By Gregg Easterbrook

As part of the peace pact with Comcast, the NFL offered Red Zone Channel to cable. I watched Red Zone Channel on Sunday and it is the cat's meow -- basically a live around-the-league highlights show happening while games are in progress. Red Zone Channel is an exciting new way to watch football, and if it were a network, it would out-draw many games. So far, of cable carriers, only Comcast and Verizon have purchased Red Zone Channel. Time-Warner, Cox, all the rest: Get on the stick and buy this channel. Your viewers will be pleased.

CableFAX Daily Sept. 17

"We’re hearing great things from our customers," said Comcast svp/gm, video services Derek Harrar of the net. "Offering

customers the opportunity to monitor every touchdown from all the games is something we’re excited to continue to

offer every Sunday."

Here’s a few fan comments from Twitter:  (the official name is "NFL RedZone")

kaygirl72: @dishnetwork NFL Red Zone was great. Sort of like March Madness, flitting from game to game. Loved it.

CaliJJ: NFL Network's Red Zone channel = Must have channel!

tulok: Red Zone is the best channel that's ever been created! I never want to watch pro football any other way ever again! #NFL #dish #RedZone

Tom_Garrity: Had a great time watching all of the #NFL games on Comcast's NFL Red Zone. It was like they read my mind on when to switch around on games!

michaelwalling: NFL Red Zone should be illegal. When you don't care particularly about a specific game going on, it feeds my football hunger. No commercials

DPSJ: Just finished watching NFL Red Zone Channel. It's like giving an overeater unfettered access to a Las Vegas buffet.

kidpsu: I can't believe how great the NFL Network's Red Zone Live station has been today. It shows so much action!

www.MaddenHQ.com:  The NFL RedZone channel is not a bad idea: In fact, I think it was a smart move by the NFL Network. I found myself going back and forth between the NFL RedZone channel and the Vikings-Browns game to see how the other games around the league were going and who was about to score. More than once I was disappointed because I saw field goals instead of touchdowns, but that’s not the NFL RedZone’s fault.

NFL RedZone is hosted by Scott Hanson from the new state-of-the-art NFL RedZone studio at NFL Network’s headquarters in Los Angeles. Produced by NFL Network, NFL RedZone whips around every NFL game on Sunday afternoons delivering the touchdowns and most exciting moments as they happen and in high definition.  When a team goes inside the 20-yard line, fans see the crucial plays live.  The channel keeps fans up-to-date in real time, switching from game to game with live look-ins, highlights and a chance to see every important play. For more information on NFL RedZone, visit www.nfl.com/redzonetv.

***If you want to interview host Scott Hanson or an NFL Network executive about NFL RedZone, please contact myself, Dan Masonson or Brenna Webb. We are also inviting media to visit NFL Network on Sundays to see NFL RedZone and NFL GameDay programming live.

Comcast

It’s on the HD package, at least. I was watching it last weekend. Pretty cool.

What channel?

Not the Comcast (Baltimore County) channel 246 or 180. It’s a totally separate channel than the NFL Network, which on Sunday’s shows all the stats. That’s not the one this is talking about.

I think its in the 700's

That’s where Balt County Comcast has moved most of the sports channels.

I checked it out,

it’s no difference than Channel 180 or 246, and seems to be the same thing I’ve been watching for the last year or so on NFL Network.

I think

It only is different feed then NFL network during the games. More specifically on when 3-4+ games are being played at once. We can all give it a shot on Sunday and see if its worth the hype.

It was cool

When they just showed the stats and audio from every score, in the past. Now with live video…. No need for Sunday ticket unless you live outside your teams viewing area.

I got it..but...

I have it thru FiOS and it’s $50 bucks for the whole season. I really do like it and it’s a great alternative over Sunday ticket. Just out of curiousity, how much are other cable companies charging for it?

Part of Comcast's Digital Package

I’m paying $5/mo. for their NFL Sports Package, mainly because I complained about the high cost and that I’ve been with them forever and have internet plus 5 cable boxes in my house.

I guess so

I just know I’m not paying anything extra for it, beyond the $5/mo. I pay for the NFL Network.
