Al Saunders is in Baltimore
Al Saunders is in Baltimore, Working with Cam. I've heard whispers that he was in Pitt on Thursday scouting the Steelers.
"AL SAUNDERS SURFACES IN BALTIMORE
Former Chiefs offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Al Saunders is now working on the Ravens coaching staff. Saunders had two years left on a contract he signed before the 2008 season with the St. Louis Rams and was planning to sit out the season and enjoy some downtime. He turned down several offers.
But then the Ravens called and it was a situation that Saunders found very enticing. He still owns a home in Virginia from his time with the Washington Redskins and is just 45 minutes away from the Ravens complex.
"This is a class operation," Saunders said before the game. "From the owner, down to the grounds crew, they do things right."
Saunders is working with offensive coordinator Cam Cameron."

How sweet it is
To have an organization that everyone wants to be a part of. Like Coach Harbaugh said last year, “We are building a dynasty here.”

I know. This is very exciting.
When men like Al Saunders want to be part of your organization, that is a VERY good sign. The quality of our front office and coaching staff is obviously highly regarded in the NFL.
Honestly, when Harbaugh said that “we’re going to be a dynasty,” I did not think that we would see the Ravens become SO good So fast. It’s just awesome to witness. I’ve watched every game for many years. I lived through the horrible, Billick-led 5-11 season. I saw Harbaugh hired and have read or watched everything said or released by this organization since.
I’m very, very excited for what is to come…

no doubt
we’re really scary this year i think. Honestly guys. People keep saying “well we could be really good if—” NO. Stop. We are SICK right now.

It’s in regard to a quote from Harbaugh from last year. I’m not going to look it up, but he essentially said that there’s no point to going out there and playing unless your intention is to build a dynasty.
Water covers 2/3 of the Earth's surface. Ed Reed covers the rest.

You are taking it out of context. The regular Beatdown readers knew exactly what I was talking about. It is a Harbaugh quote…
“We’re going to be a dynasty. If you’re not willing to say it out loud, how do you expect to get there.” – Ravens coach John Harbaugh, speaking before a national television audience.

i like that mentality.
although we, as fans, should not call ourselves a dynasty right now.

Check out these quotes
Word comes from Mike Freeman of CBS Sports that the Baltimore Ravens offense had a little extra motivation in their 38-24 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Specifically from Keyshawn Johnson and Cris Carter who had some harsh words for the Ravens, particularly the offense.
“You want a bum, you pay a bum,” Johnson said Sunday morning. Both he and Carter were critical of the Ravens offense. I haven’t seen all the comments but Freeman sums it up here.
It’s fair to say that Derrick Mason took offense to the comments.
“Keyshawn Johnson is the bum, that’s why he’s in the analyst seat,” said Mason . “He tried to come back to football but no one would sign him. He was never that good a player. He got lucky and signed on in Tampa Bay and won a Super Bowl because they had a great defense.”
That’s whats up Derrick. So glad you decided to come back.

F*** Johnson and Carter!
How can they say that about a player that has had such great success in his career? I hope mason’s comments reach the fat heads of those two. A bum? Johnson and Carter both tried to make a comeback at mason’s age and failed miserably.

WOW
SICK quote from Mason. Usually I don’t like media bickering but Mason owed this one to Key.

The Beatdown could be that good one day. We believe in you, Bruce!

Hell yea! Thanks for reporting this Dan.
It makes me feel great when people say that they are blown away by how we operate things here. The fact that he turned down a bunch of offers because he did not want to coach again, then saw how we do things an wanted to come here says alot about our organization. Saunders knows as much about football as anyone in this league and the move will only make us better.

I had read this a while back in pre-season but
never saw him at camp. He is a good addition, but he is not on the field and trust me, Cam is just fine without him if so be it, much less Harbs.

Never said anything about our coaches not being great, but its always nice to have a coveted mind like Saunders wanting to join your franchise as a mere “consultant.”

This is a good deal.
Skip the part about his last Rams contract, Scott Linehan ruined that team past the point of anyone being able to do anything with it.
His previous stint with the Rams was as the WR’s coach under Dick Vermeil and Mike Martz for the Greatest Show Superbowl.
Bodes well imo.
