Eron Riley?
Are there any reports on him coming out of camp? I had read he sat out a day or two a few days back or maybe it was earlier last week, but was just curious. I thought it would be interesting to follow his devolpment vs. Darrious Hayward Bey's. Also what are his chances of making the team on the practice squad etc. The way it sounds is that DHB isnt performing as well as expected in Oakland.
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

Riley will have to make the team
on Special Teams or more likely the Practice Squad, if even that. He is deep on the depth chart even with Clayton’s injury. He is behind: D-Mase, D-Will, K-Wash, M-Smith, J-Harp….at least. Riley and even Ernie Wheelwright are similar players, close to what J-Harper brings, who is way ahead of both of them. Interestingly, Riley’s stats were even better than DHB’s but his speed put him from a top 10 pick to an undrafted FA.

Riley ran a 4.38 I think....
But he may not be as sound as DHB is. I think Biren Ealy has looked better than Riley has so far in training camp. He will see some playing time in pre-season.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.

Ealy not practicing
with an injury. Not that it matters….

Obviously… It’s not just speed that makes a great wide receiver. There are many, many receivers that have the same build and speed as many of the great receivers but will never be great. Body control is what separates them. Marcus Smith is built like Anquan Boldin but at this point in his career, doesn’t have anywhere near the same body control that Boldin does. Mason and Clayton are also built very similarly. In fact, Clayton is faster, but he doesn’t have the same control that Mason has.

thanks
I thought I remember reading that Riley was one of the faster one’s at the combine. I thought his numbers were better than DHB’s also considering he was coming from Duke.
I am pretty pumped to see Harper play.
Thanks for the update Bruce, I had thought I had read he was injured. Great job with the updates.

Actually, I was surprised to see his speed was that good
but he had as good a season, if not better than DHB, so then why was he left undrafted?

Heyward-Bey had something like 38 receptions
his last year in school, while the Ravens’ Marcus Smith had 90! Wow, what ahuge difference world class speed makes….at least to the Raiders Al Davis!

Haha
Yeah, thats true. So glad Davis isn’t making the decisions here. I just thought it was crazy DHB went so high and than Riley didn’t even get picked up. But i gues thats what the combine can do for you.
I’m still hoping he makes the team on special teams or maybe the practice squad so maybe a year or two Riley will pop up somewhere and who knows where or what DHB will be doing.

DHB is a Forest Gump runner..straight lines all the way. Oakland drafted him too high for too much.
