Steve McNair Reported Killed

Former Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans QB Steve McNair has reportedly been shot and killed in what looks to be a double homicide in downtown Nashville, TN.  Nashville police currently have no suspects in the crime but are questioning several people at police headquarters there.  This story is currently breaking and details may emerge or change as we find out more about what went down.

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams released a statement saying:

We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair’s passing today. He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing.

McNair was only 36 years old at the time of his murder.  This is extremely sad news for all football fans. My heart goes out to Steve McNair's family during this difficult time.

Steve McNair

This is truly distressing. McNair led us to the most successful year in franchise history (13-3 in 2006), but was forced to retire due to his health. Now he doesn;t even get to enjoy his time. This sucks !!!!!

May God bless his soul,

I feel for the family. What is the world coming to when we’re killing the people that we grow up looking up to? Sometimes there are no answers for people’s actions.

Steve Mcnair was a stand-up individual, he gave us Ravens fans and Titans fans years of excitement and he was definitely as tough as nails. I’m not sure if Steve had kids but it’s a shame that they have to grow up without him.

And Here’s to getting the Loser that puled the trigger, i hope this haunts him for a long time.

much respect to Steve McNair

I always admired McNair because he was an old throwback type of player. It wasn’t about the showboating it wasn’t about his success it was about winning damn football games.

Rest In Peace Steve McNair.

His is the only jersey I own....

I always liked watching him play when the Titans were in our division. Tough as nails player and stand up guy. I always wondered if the Titans would have beaten us with McNair last year. He career was only shortened by the toll on his body, not his spirit. I was stoked when the Ravens picked him up. My thoughts are with his kids and his wife. What a terrible shame.

Sorry I accidently hit enter when typing

This is what I meant to say. I will always be greatful for him getting us the division title and the best season in franchise history. And who knows if the Colts didn’t win that game how far wed have gone.. He seemed like such a nice guy too, a team player… Such as shame he had to end his carer early too. Very sad. He will be missed. RIP Steve.

What a tragedy!!!

The guy was only 36 years old and should now be enjoying his time ff after sacrificing his body and any bit of free time for a game he obviously loved so much. He was a true warrior and while he never was as good as Peyton Manning, he deserved the co-MVP Trophy he earned in 2003 (?), as he took everything any defense could throw at him and kept on getting up for more. He embodied everything good the NFL stood for and will live forever in our hearts and the Hall of Fame. I say they remove the need for a player to be retired for five years and induct him right away.

I’m sure the facts will come out real fast, but to me it looks like he may have been having an affair and the boyfriend caught them and shot her but killed him. I feel so sorry for his family and especially his kids, with whom he retired to spend some time with after commiting all his time for the past, what 13 years to pro football. He will be missed, et not forgotten.

The shock of the deaths of so many well known people over the past week or two is amazing and saddening. Hopefully, they all will rest in peace together.

Thanks for the quick posting of this terrible news, Jonny Pops.
Welcome to the Beatdown, although I’d rather it be for better news.

We share in this loss...

I know it hurts the Ravens fans too. I’ve been impressed with your class.

Always a tough competitor and quality person

Shocked and saddened. Prayers go out to family and friends of #9. I am sure all Ravens fans have the same respect for this man that Titans fans had known and admired for many years.

Of course we do, but...

..we just didn’t have the history that the Titans fans d w/ Steve. However, we all remember the excitement when he signed here, as that was the final piece to our puzzle fo rwinning the Super Bowl in 1996 and while our 13-3 regular season was great, we fell just short.

In 2007, it was sad because while McNair was a great warrior, it was obvious his body couldn’t do what his mind was telling it to. All part of the reason we loved his style, grit and determination and why we are so sad today.

Tragic

I am in shock of what occurred. What a terrible way to spend a 4th of July. I was watching the Can-USA Rugby game and they cut away to breaking news. I knew it would be a death, but was not expecting this. Unbelievable that Air McNair is gone.

NY Times hints at murder suicide.

Mc Nair had multiple wounds and the girlfriend had one to the head. A gun was found near her body, and the Nashville police are not looking for any suspects in the case. The girlfriend (Kazemi) was arrested for DUI while riding with McNair earlier in the week.

Looks like it

She must have shot him then turned the gun on herself. At first I thought it was a jealous boyfriend, but now I’m wondering if it was a jealous girlfriend. Apparently he and a friend owned the place and McNair was pulled over in the passenger seat of a vehicle driven by her the other day, so perhaps it is all going to come out shortly.
