New "United Football League" Initial Draft Includes Former Ravens
The newly formed UFL, which is trying to cater to those cities that are either devoid of or "under-served" in their hunger for professional football, had their initial draft and the teams rosters include a bunch of former Baltimore Ravens.
This is the UFL's Mission Statement:
"To fulfill the unmet needs of football fans in major markets currently underserved by professional football by providing a high quality traditional football league comprised of world class professional football players. The UFL will serve the communities with pride, dedication and passion, and uphold a leadership role in the development of football worldwide. The UFL will provide every fan with an affordable, accessible, exciting and entertaining game experience."
The UFL will play in the fall and have four teams playing in seven cities. The four teams are Las Vegas, New York, Orlando and San Francisco, but they will also hold games in Hartford (CT), Los Angelos and Sacramento. Follow the "jump" to see the list of former Ravens drafted to play in the new league.
Here is a list of the former Raven players and their "new" teams in the UFL:
Gary Stills, LB (Las Vegas)
Obafemi Ayanbadejo, RB (San Francisco)
Brian Rimpf, T (San Francisco)
BJ Sams, WR (San Francisco)

Is New York really an underserved market? The state has three teams, and the city has two. Orlando’s state already has two football teams, and San Francisco already has a team that has trouble competing. Also, it’d be nice to have some football to follow in the NFL off-season; doesn’t the UFL plan to play on a similar schedule to the NFL’s?
Water covers 2/3 of the Earth's surface. Ed Reed covers the rest.
UFL plays in the fall
They say they want to keep it traditional, but how are they going to compete? This makes no sense, although they’ve sunk a ton of money in it, around $1 million each for the coaches.
To me, they should play in the summertime.

If you check out the site
The photo of Fassel is hilarious..
Rumor has it
…that Michael Vick is going to sign with the Orlando franchise.
Let us see: there was (correct me if I am wrong) the WFL back in the early seventies, then the USFL in the early eighties, then the XFL for one season and now this. I see a pattern and I will continue to see the same pattern (of failure).
The AFL was the only league to ever get anywhere -merge with the NFL.
Couple of USFL trivia questions:
Who was Baltimore’s head coach (easy)?
Who was Baltimore’s starting QB?
Who was Baltimore’s starting running back?
When the USFL sued the NFL for anti-trust violations, who won and what was the damage awarded?
Baltimore is the only city that has multiple NFL championships, a USFL title and the CFL Grey Cup.
baltimore was the ultimate step child. man did the NFL have fun with us. here’s a usfl team. okay we won. here’s a cfl team. okay we won. here’s a million dollar non-refundable application fee. cha ching. here’s a team for jacksonville. damn it. well, balitmore, i hear there’s a team in the mid west with some stadium issues. go take it. but, first, we’ll need another million buck site study fee and your plans for the new stadium (16 copies). damn it. okay. may we recommend a builder and concrete supplier?
Tagliabue said we should use our money for a museum!
When we won the Super Bowl, I was in "Tampa at the game with a sign that said, "We’lll put our SB Trophy in our Museum, okay Tagliabue (what a prick!!).

USFL, $1, which was trebled because it was an antitrust violation for a whopping total of three bucks. NFL, in a shocker, decided not to appeal…
