Ravens Trading Down

We only have six picks this year.  I really believe Ozzie will trade down.  The draft is too strong and too deep in too many positions.  Why get just one great player when you can get two *almost* really great players?

Try this on for size: we trade our first rounder for a high 2nd and 3rd.  We take the best WR or if some crazy BPA falls to us we take hime.  We trade our lower 2nd rounder for a third and a fourth rounder.  That gives us three 3rd rounders.  We draft, in no particular order in the third round: best DE, Best CB and best FB- a Frank Wycheck wannabe.  Cam loves the blocking FB's that can also catch a pass in his system.

Our two fourth rounders we draft, in no particular order, the best OT and LB.  Fifth and sixth rounders, anybody's guess: maybe a TE, maybe a kicker, maybe another OL, who knows...

In summation, we get the best WR that falls to the early second round, we get a quality DE, FB and young CB to groom, we get a quality OT and LB.  And, no first round money to pay out-!

I do not see us giving up our first round pick

But I do think we will trade down a little bit if we can get another 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick out of it. Possibly moving to any pick 27-32 and picking up a few extra picks in the later rounds.

Here is what Ozzie and Eric DeCosta had to say

If we can get more picks, I am all for it.

And Frank Wychek was a Tight End

Not a Full Back

FW

Frank Wycheck: TE, FB, to-may-to, to-mah-to. Fine. He was listed as TE, played like a FB and could pull off both positions. Point is, we, Cam really, needs a young, pass catching blocking FB. I think McLain is going to turn more into a RB than a traditional FB, but that is just my opinion…

We need pass catching WR and TE before we need a pass catching FB

We just need a FB who can tear up a linebacker for one of our 3 RB’s to break through. I think we would use Ray Rice as the pass catching Back that we need and line up LeRon to block at FB. But, if we can get our hands on a 265 pound guy who can catch a pass and get us a first down, I am right there with you.

He was usually referred to as an H-Back

which is a TE who often lined up in the FB’s position or in front of the RB.

A trade could still net us

a Brian Robiskie as well as extra picks, which could be used to get more depth. It will all depend on what happens in front of us. If someone like Maclin or Maualaga drops close to us, I could see us trading up. On the other hand, if whomever is on Ozzie’s radar is gone, I could see us dropping back. Whatever Ozzie does works for me, as he is the “Man!”

Sonuds like a great plan

I would love for us to fall back and pick up extra picks in the draft. I believe we do trade our 1st rounder for a 2nd and 3rd.

FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

They better be in the top 1-8 picks in those rounds then.

I dont want to trade our late first round pick for late 2nd and 3rd round picks. So that means that teams towards the top of the first round are gonna have to want an extra 1st rounder.

Just does not make sense to me if we trade our first round pick, then just have pick 26 in the 2nd round and like pick 23 in the 2nd round. If we are going to do that, I want at least top 8 in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

agreed

early, top ten 2nd rounder, plus a third at least.

The correct trade (based on value of every pick) is:

For example, if we trade our 26 for an early 2nd (36 for example), we also get a late 3rd (84 overall).

I think that would be great for us, we can get Robiskie o maybe Britt with 36th, a good DE with 57 (F Moala, C Barwin) and with 84 and our 86 a CB like V Harris or Coye Francis and a good RT.

Huh?

You think those guys will be available that late in the second?..

Barwin maybe not, but who knows… And Moala I think its very possible.

Agreed, but

not Britt nor Robiskie.

Moala may be gone sooner than later. This class is very thin at DT, and he’s considered one of the best.

right

i wasn’t specific but i meant to mention Britt and Robiskie. Not sure if we would want to trade that 26th pick if we can get the best available player there though. Then again in Oz we trust.
