Samari Back in Purple and Black
Samari Rolle has decided to re-sign with the Ravens 2 weeks after being released.
Rolle was in Owings Mills yesterday to sign what is said to be a 4 year contract to stay with us which basically means that Samari is going to be retiring as a Raven.
With Samari being released, Ozzie Newsome still had hope that the two sides could work out a deal, and that is exactly what happened. Statistically, Rolle was one of the best CB's in the league last year and bringing him back only strengthens our secondary.
Fabian, Foxworth, Rolle, Carr, Walker and possibly another guy on the first day of the draft. Could Ozzie have handled the situation any better?
Glad to have you back in purple and black Samari.

One-upped by Mr MaLoR again!
Anyways, what are the odds on all the draft “pros” still calling for us to pick a CB with our first round pick? Based on what I’ve seen so far, I’d have to say pretty good.
Water covers 2/3 of the Earth's surface. Ed Reed covers the rest.
Sorry Ampallang
But it is my duty to keep the Beatdown updated at all times! The one who should be upset is Rexx, cause now his Burress story has moved down. Sorry Rexx, but didnt want to see this in the fan posts and front page.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
That's cool.
The only other choice was to wait and post it tomorrow (Tuesday) but then we would not breaking news to anyone. However, MaLor, can you re-edit and update the day and time tomorrow so it counts at the very least as that day’s post?
Otherwise, great news and we now are beginning to surpass our secondary’s issues with this off season. Now I wonder……when will we re-sign C-Mac? Hmmmm…
Rexx
Do you guys have some kind of limit
on the amount of stories posted by each admin each day? That’s weird if you do, because we don’t at CamdenChat.
"Any guitar solos you hear on the record where it sounds like one note, sounds like Meg White playing guitar -- that's me. Any real guitar solo where a guitar comes in and you go, 'F--k, that sounds awesome!' -- that's not me." - Josh Freese
No we dont
But we like to keep it to one story a day so that the top story is read by all. If we all posted stories each day, then it would limit the amount of views on some of the important topics that we discuss here.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
That's why the other stories of the day are usually put on as FanPosts.
Many other sites put a bunch of stories out each day, but we’re just that far advanced. We’d rather take one topic and beat it to death before moving on. Perhaps during the season, we may handle it differently. Thanks for following up on this for me, MaLoR.

Man... Shutdown defense?
It’s good to see we have a lot quality corners to make a shutdown defense.

Great move by baltimore.....
And on Rolles part. We were one game away from making it to the super bowl last year. Now that both our head coach and QB have a year of experience under their belt, we should be able to make a great run at it this year. Now Rolle can come in and mentor these young CB we have. He can easliy slide in at nickel and shutdown any Slot WR. We can also use chris carr as our jim leonard. Smart Move on both sides!
FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great to have one of the best CB's
Over the last 10 years in your lineup. He has done basically everything right when playing the position and will continue to show Fabian and Foxworth how to shut down WR’s like Samari has his whole career.
Ozzie again making the moves necessary to get us our 2nd superbowl victory.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
What a class act..
Ozzie doesn’t burn bridges. He just says go ahead and look around and I’ll leave the door open for you to come home when you’re ready. Samari left a bit disgruntled and Ozzie brings him back at his price as a happy team guy. Smooth move.
We have the best CB depth in the NFL
Frank Walker as a starter = Not so great
Frank Walker as your 5th CB = Outstanding
Derrick Martin and Evan Ogelsby as 6th and 7th.
God, at one point last year Ogelsby was our 3rd CB.

Thank God those days are over,
And i believe thats when Peyton and crew made us pay!
I agree
Derrick Martin although has upside.

Hey - Let's stay healthy first
How many 4th and 5th string CB’s end up playing a lot due to health issues? Depth is good, very very good.
Rexx
When we've had good cornerback-play we have usually won.
The Ravens haven’t really had a reliable secondary since 2006, and in 2006, the defense was dominate. I think that this will really free-up the linebackers… they won’t have to always worry about what’s going on behind them.
great move
im sure we can rule out any chance of the ravens taking a cb with at least their first 3 picks. im sure we will be seeing a new mock draft come out tomorrow
So What happened?
So why did C-Mac get released anyways? Was it due to injury’s from last season? Any word on where we could possibly see him next year?
Glad to see Rolle Back in the black and purple, im still uneasy about the physical size of our starting CB’s but raw talent does make up for it…..
C-Mac is gone because of his injury
And somewhat weak desire to play as a Raven. He has missed more games then he has played in the last 2 years and just does not seem to give a sh*t. He will probably got to Cleveless, like the rest of our wash-ups.

C-Mac was a bad boy
He just didn’t seem to buy into new coach Harbaugh’s philosophy and John wasn’t taking any of C-Mac’s BS. First he benched him, then IR’d him, then cut him. Wish Chris good luck when he signs in Cleveland, where all the Ravens trash goes to fester.

If you guys want to hear something rather funny
Last night at about 1:30am, one of my good friends’ brother who lives in Miami that I regularly keep in touch with calls me. It is a little loud at first and I could not make out what he was saying too much. But it finally gets a little quieter, and he says to me…
“Lawernce Timmons, the Linebacker for the Steelers, is in this club right now that I am at with all of his crew. They are in the VIP right now smoking weed.”
Found that to be rather interesting. Hope he gets caught by the league.

Should have ratted him out!
Next time, call the law on him! Are you sure Santonio Holmes and Ricky Williams weren’t with him?
Rexx
I told him to take a picture or video and send it to me
I could have been almost as famous as that guy who posted Phelps rippin a huge bong hit.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
not quite
Timmons is not known outside of more informed NFL circles, while Phelps was at one time last year arguably the most famous athlete in the entire world!

BPA says ...
… if the best player who slips to 26 is a CB – you still grab him.
Let’s not over evaluate our CB talent and depth. I love Samari but he is still old and injury prone. Fabian is a nice cover guy but flat out a lousy tackler. Foxworth is a nice addition but not a shutdown corner. Frank Walker is inconsistent and continually makes bone head plays/penalties. I’ll say we have depth when Martin and Ogelsby are on another team’s roster after we cut them.
So I don’t mind when the mocks show a top CB slipping to us.
Brian Billick in a chat yesterday on NFL.com
This is the question asked to him.
What kind of quarterback does Brian Billick look to draft? The prototypical player or the guy with multi-demensional abilities i.e. the Pat White type of player
Here is Billick’s answer.
Given my track record in Baltimore, I’m not sure anyone is much interested in the criteria I would use in chosing a QB. But as we mentioned before, you’re really looking for a composite — an IT factor that we talked about earlier. Where his cummulative abilities and personality will lead to his success.
A player’s personality is the hardest to quantify, and why it’s so tough to draft this position.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Gotta respect his honesty
and awareness of what most people think of his QB judgement.
He could have said,…
“I look for a QB that can throw the ball thru the uprights on his knees and comes from a college system that doesn’t prepare him for the speed of the NFL and also the QB that is past his prime from other teams’ trash heap.”
But he didn’t.

I was expecting a Boller question from one of the posters
But none ever came up
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
I posted a question about Boller.
I asked, “Looking back, why didn’t Kyle Boller make it as a starter in the NFL? What can other teams learn from Boller?”
I wonder what he would have answered.
I saw he did one
But I did not get a chance to contribute to it. I was looking for the final chat results this morning and cannot find it.

Would be nice...
Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
Yeah, I definitely would want the work ethic of T.O., and I like Brandon Marshall, and the way he plays — and Andre Johnson too. I hope to take a little bit from each of thoese guys and mold myself after them … that would be me.
I like this question and answer
Hey Darrius. Alot of people are predicting that the Ravens will draft you with their 1st round pick. What do you think about this? Do you think you could develop chemistry with Joe Flacco?
It would be great to play in Baltimore, being from here and going to school here. Being around the organization, Ozzie is someone I met during my senior year in high school. He doubted my NFL future then, but we had laughs about it when we talked at the combine.
Me and Flacco, I think the chemistry would be great. He’s from Pittsburgh and went to Deleware, and we could get the whole East Coast thing going on. It would be great.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Except
Flacco is not from Pittsburgh (thank god), he’s from NJ, he just went to school at Pitt for a year.
Agreed
You can hear a slight Maryland/Baltimore accent in him since he grew up so close to here.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
Not possible
DHB does not have developed hands yet, says all the experts including yourself. Kind of hard to hold hands with a guy who does not have good hands.
