Oher Arrives in Baltimore
The Ravens first round pick has officially arrived in Baltimore today. Sporting a very slick baby blue plaid blazer, Oher will be part of an introduction press conference held at 2pm today.
Other Notes
- Special Teams coach, Jerry Rosburg is very excited about what our 3rd round selection, Ladarius Webb, brings to special teams. Webb was a special teams stand out at Nicholls State. He is such an insane athlete which made him the first player in NCAA history to win his conference's offensive, defensive and special teams player of the week awards during his junior year.
- Kruger could have been a first round pick. While we moved up in the 1st round to draft Michael Oher yesterday, Ozzie and Eric also talked in the draft room about moving down from 26 to acquire an extra pick today. Among the group of players the Ravens’ brain trust was considering if they moved back in the 1st round was Paul Kruger. Of course, Ozzie later tabbed Kruger with our 2nd-round pick. Good fortune for us. Kruger’s name card has a red star on it. Those players with red stars are special. Each of the Ravens’ scouts gets to place a red star on the card of the player he believes would best personify what a Ravens’ player should be. Along with the athletic ability, players given red stars are also passionate about the game, dedicated to getting better, fearless on the field, have outstanding character and have high intelligence.
- Ravens trade 4th and 6th round picks for two 5th round picks from the Patriots that were acquired in a trade with Ellis Hobbs to Philadelphia.

Great story
supposed to be a movie about him too coming out. While not the name receiver I wanted, he will be a great addition as a Raven.

Welcome to Charm City kid!
I dont know about you guys but i like to have kids like this on my team, because the simple fact that he came from where he did with what he had (nothing) speaks volumes about his will to succeed and his desire to be the best!
Here’s to Mr. Oher running to block downfield next to the sideline and getting shoved in the back and going straight through Mike Tomlin!
it could happen right?
"M-A-R-Y-L-A-N-D Maryland Will Win!"
Years from now...
Bischotti is really putting his stamp on this team. Harbaugh, Flacco, Neal, Birk, Oher, Kruger, and now Peerman. These are all CHARACTER men. Our organization has taken a major overhaul. It’s looking like we may be in for a good ride.
P.S. Would love to see Ogden at camp this year working with Oher.
Ogden was at nearly every training camp I went to last year working with Gaither
And I expect him to do the same this year. Now, you have to remember that Oher is going to be plaing RT for us, and that we do have Pro Bowl Tackle Willie Anderson at RT. So Ogden can focus on Gaither and Anderson can focus on Oher, two of the best to play the position you want teaching you.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
I m not so sure
Willie will be fighting for the starter place, Ogden was retired, and thats why he help so much gaither

Kruger is a fighter too...
lost a kidney in a car accident as a kid I think, survived a life threatening stabbing from a Las Vegas gang, all the while putting good numbers for the Utes. You look at the Bengals drafting Andre Smith…lots of talent but if there is one team that shouldn’t draft headcases, and have shown in the past that they can’t help them (Chris Henry off the top of my head), thank god we don’t have to sit through someone like Mike Brown screwing up year in and out.

Ravens signed UFAs:
QB Drew Willy (Buffalo)
DT Will Johnson (Michigan)
OL Greg Ryan (Western Kentucky)
DE Willie VanDeSteeg (Minnesota)
WR Eron Riley (Duke)
OT Cameron Goldberg (Duke)
LB Dannell Ellerbe (Georgia)
K Graham Gano (FSU
Gano is a real coup given that he was the best kicker in the draft. Eron Riley is suppose to be really good as well as the productive LB, Dannell Ellerbe. Getting three good players is always a good thing.
Great, now we get a WR
And of course he is from Duke

Be positive! lol.
Looks solid
Not the most polished route runner, but made some nice plays against some tough ACC schools. Those plays where he was in on the punt defense, he flew down the field and made some very nice tackles.
You got any stats on him, including 40 time and such?

His 40 time is on the video.
As soon as the video starts, his stats pop up.
Somebody get that kid a stylist. What is up with that hidious jacket? I am no metrosexual, I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy, but someone needs to tell him that is an ugly jacket. Everyone from his adoptive family, in the picture behind him, are all wearing professional basic black outfits.
I guess when you are 6’5", 309 pounds and can do 21 reps during the bench press drills during the combine no one, except maybe some jerk on the internet, is going to tell you it looks like you get a free bowl of soup when you buy a suit like that, but it looks good on Michael Oher (rolling eyes in my best Rodney Dangerfield impersonation).
"Hey I bet you get a free bowl of soup with a hat like this"
“Oh, it looks good on you though!”

From an Ole Miss Rebel
I’m one of SBNation’s Ole Miss bloggers (Red Cup Rebellion) and it’s a thrill to see so many of you Ravens being so excited about having one of our guys as a part of your franchise. We are also thrilled that Michael is going to be playing for a team that will be making a lot of post-season appearances during his career.
As some of you have commented, Michael really does have an impressive story. Despite growing up in one of America’s worst ghettos, he was blessed with the rare opportunity ot make something of himself and, unlike so many people in his situation, he buckled down and did just that. He’s a hard-working, loyal guy which, in the NFL, has become a dying breed of football player.
Also, I live in DC for the time being, so I may just make my way up to Baltimore to watch Big Mike pancake a few fools over the next couple of seasons.
PS – I’m with DT711, Oher looks damn good in that suit. Trust me, if you tell him otherwise, he’ll demolish you.
Take a picture, trick.

Thanks, man!
You’re welcome over here anytime! We couldn’t be happier to have Michael Oher with the Ravens. I’m sure that you were just as surprised when he was still available at 23. We believe that we drafted a top-ten player and look forward to seeing Oher in many Pro-bowls and Super-bowls.
