PrintSorry about the delay, guys. My main laptop decided to freeze when I originally tried to post this, so I picked it up and banged it down on the kitchen table, breaking it. So here we go with the Open Thread. I expect our Ravens to finally go on the clock around 7pm, but depending on how fast the teams in front of us go, will determine exactly when. I fully expect most teams to use all their alloted ten minutes.
Unfortunately, I have a dinner party that I will be at tonight so I will be back blogging later, as the party begins around 6:30pm, ironically right around the time the Ravens will pick. Thank god I have ESPN Alerts.

Tyson Jackson of LSU to the Chiefs with the 3rd pick. Best DE in the draft, but Aaron Curry was the best player in the draft. Seattle will jump all over Curry now. Watch.

Perhaps we’ll still trade w/ Cards and then take Pettigrew, although I heard Arizona did NOT drop their demand for a first round pick. Come on, wouldn’t Boldin been gone by now if they did?

What the recent picks mean to the Ravens
With a bunch of temas passing on Crabtree, it means a ton to us at 26. Crabtree AND Macklin will still both be gone by the time we pick. However, with DHB already off the board and Harvin just not a Raven-type, that leaves Britt, Nicks and Robiskie at wideout when we pick. At least one of those might also be gone by then. That will push other real good players down to us, namely Maualage, Pettigrew or one of the good DE’s. Pray that we make the Boldin trade and then Pettigrew is there for us. Otherwise, the possibility of us trading back is getting bigger on each weird pick.

Perhaps we drop back into the early 2nd round and get Robiskie and more picks. Either way I’m thrilled we won’t be seeing Crabtree in a Browns uniform twice each year. So far, the Bengals and Browns haven’t done anything to make me think they’re on their way back to respectability.

UConn's Donald Brown just became a first round pick.
With both Philly and Arizona needing a RB, and Wells about to go to the Saints unless they take a Michael Jenkins or a USC LB, that leaves Brown as the top RB.

ahead of us. Who do they pick? Pats need LB, Atl needs player othyer than WR, but Dolphins need a WR, but with Maualaga and Mathews both still there, there is a decent chance both go beofre us. Worst case scenerio is that NE takes Maualaga, Atl takes Matthews and Miami takes Nicks. Then I drink heavily and hope we trade down to get Robiskie or Britt and more picks. Shit, that would suck.

we are so deep in our secondary now. Ozz took the steps to make sure what happened last year in the postseason would not happen again and we are loaded in that area.

I think the Ravens will draft Brian Robieske with their second pick.
I also think the cornerbacks will be coming off the board pretty fast at the start of the second round. There is also Jared Cook, a good solid TE that could be taken there.
I had Oher going to Cincy but I am really glad we got him. Not too worried about the o-line now.
