What's Next for McClain?
After last year's Le'Ron McClain show, what will his role be in the upcoming season? Will he go back to playing the role of a standard fullback or will he 1-2 punch with McGahee?
As talented as the kid is, I'd hate to see him become a blocker. Not taking anything away from Neal's great career of paving the road of the great backs behind him, but McClain is motivated and ready to do more than block.
At the same time it sucks having such great backs, because what happens to the touches Ray Rice should be getting? We all saw what he could do last year and I'd like to see more.
It will be a good fight in training camp and preseason.

mcclain is set
mcclain already proved himself to be a very capable starting running back last year. the DID name him that starter, and i dont think that will change. he is too effective to not use. im hopin for the 1-2 punch with mcgahee and neal leading the way.

McCains' to the Next Level...!
McClain had a great season and I want to see him expand on that. He’s a great combination of power and quickness in tight areas. Not to mention, he’s got very deceptive speed, evident in the Dallas game when no one could seem to catch him on that 82yard scamper which included what my 14yr.old son called a sick stiff arm. So, I’d love to see this young man continue to get his touches alongwith my main man Ray Rice doing his thing alittle more regularly. The future for the running game is bright, as long as all our backs are put in a position where their skills can utilized to the full capacity.

McClain should get the redzone carries
If willis can come back from injury and have a better 2009 season, McClain should be our Redzone and short yardage back. Keep Ray as our 3rd down back and use willis as our starter. Or, we could let Leron start the game, wear down the D and bring in Willis to be our closer. That would be great! Also, I would like to see Ray recieve more carries. The man is our future back in the coming years so it would be nice to see him feature in the offense early and often through out the entire season and not just the begining.

Remember....
McClain never carried the rock that much since high school. He will get more touches and expand his role. McGahee will probably still be the “feature” back, with Rice getting touches in specific situations or to give the others a breather. Sooner or later an injury will change the situation and Rice’s role will expand.

Dump McGahee
He’s sucking up Rice’s carries and he gets the ball when Cams ass puckers. Not totally Willis’s fault but I got tired of watching him doubled over staggering back to the huddle AND STILL GETTING THE NEXT CARRY…WTF.

Just can't do that - yet!
But by the end of next season, McGahee will probably be an afterthought as both Mr. Inside (McClain) and Mr. Outside (Rice) define our running game.

I really have to agree with this. I’m pretty sure I just don’t like McGahee in general, but I’d really like to see us building around a McLain-Rice tandem for the future.

Salary Cap
I think we have to hold onto MacGahee for 2009 for salary cap reasons. If they reach an agreement and 2010 is a capped year, then MacGaHee is probably gone after 2009. If 2010 is uncapped, what is the harm in keeping him around? The guy is a legitimate home run hitter, albeit his head seems a little screwy…
McLain did surprise me with his speed in the Dallas game, though. And I agree our future lies with the inside-outside duo of McLain-Rice, respectively.
Would like to see a young replacement for Neal at FB, though- someone who can blow up LB’s and allow our backs to hit the secondary. (not that Neal didn’t do that, but the guy is what, like sixty, sixty-one? Didn’t he block for Jim Brown back in the day?)

Asshole comment
We should get rid of McGahee and get Darell Scott and Davin Megget, the running tandem at UMD.

My man D Scott
Is going to do big things this year. I’m calling 1st team All-ACC, possible offensive player of the year in conference.
Add in Megget, Porzel, Adams and Green and UMD is stacked at RB
