Around SBN: Tobias Harris signs with Tennessee

Torry Holt Anyone?

Poll
Do you think the Ravens should think about bringing Torry Holt in to fill our need at WR, once he inevitably becomes available? Keep in mind that Mason, Clayton and Wiliams are all free agents next year.
Yes, do what it takes to sign Holt and we are set

Yes, if the price is right, but we should still add a young WR in the draft

No, lets just draft a WR to add to what we already have.

I think

There are allot better options that will come closer to the draft than the names mentioned.
I’ve read that Edwards and Ocho Cinco could be had for 2nd round pics.
I also think a push for Boldin is still posible with a 2nd this year and a conditional 3rd next. I really think he’s worth a first, It would be like us drafting him in the first round. With such a late pick this year what is the first round pick really worth though?
I know we would still have to pay him, and that will be hard with Nagta and Suggs set to cash in big this year.
Holt and Harrisons age and inability to get down field, despite how good their hands are, have no real value on what the team needs. Especially Harrison hampered with two bad knees. They (Ravens) don’t need any more posession recievers i.e. Mason.

I think

There is no way the bengels or the browns would send us their big time recievers I know they have bad front offices but I don’t think either one of them is that stupid. Boldin is too expensive the cards will want a first and a third. Harrison has lost a step but could be out to prove something but that is a big could be. Holt still has some game and the price tag could be right in our neighborhood and I think he is ready to win again and is hungry to prove he is still a game changer soo in conclusion trading is too expensive harrison is too old but holt could be just right.

The Browns are dumping to build through the draft along with the fact that they are not really happy with edwards right now, makes me feel that if they can get a 2nd from anyone they’ll take it. Not to say if we offered a 2nd and someone outside the division offers a third, they would go out of the division for the 3rd.

Chad’s value with the bengals continues to fall. He’s quiet, for now, but it was said the bengals could have recieved a 1st rounder last year for him. Now insiders only mention a second. With coming off of a shoulder injury this year and fear of only a 3rd or worse next year we could land him. I don’t think it will happen, but i do think there is a possiblity.

As far as Boldin goes, I say spend what ever to get him as long as we can keep Nagta next year and keep Suggs. Even if it means whatever penalties the leauge delves out for busting up the cap space.

I saw a rumor

Which doesn’t really mean a damn thing, but you never know, it could have some truth to it, that the Broncos are starting to get fed up with Marshall, and might consider moving him. I don’t think they will get rid of him, unless by some chance they move Cutler, then I could see it happening.

If he was available he would be another intriguing possibility.

Marshall would be awesome, I hear that they call him Baby T.O. though. I doubt Cutler would ever part with his loverboy.

Problem with that is his attitude. If Dinver is getting sick of him do you really want him on your team?

by archon095 on Mar 10, 2009 3:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes!

Yes, I do want him on my team. He is not the reason they didnt make the playoffs last year. He put up pro bowl numbers, His defense lost it for him. You come to baltimore, and you will get your butt in shape to be a part of this football team. I am tired of the character stuff these days. The NFL is brain washing us into treating this league like a giant soap opera. If they can play football at a level like Marshall can, you can come here.

My initial reaction was no way

but when the option of “if the price is right, but still draft a WR” came up, then of course why not? Is there such a thing as having too many good pass catchers? Sure both these guys are on the downside of their careers, but they still are very serviceable pass receivers, especially Holt of the two in my opinion.

I still say we need a big strong and fast wideout to not only stretch the field as everyone is always saying, but to grab those “errant” passes away from the DB’s and make Flacco look better, just like Moss did for Brady. Yeah, Brady is great but some of those TD catches by Moss, especially the ones against the Dolphins, were just thrown up there by Brady, knowing that in all probability that Moss would come down with it or at least make sure it wasn’t intercepted. Must be nice to know that as a QB when you’re putting it up for grabs.

Baltimore should wait and se if the Rams release Troy Holt, and if they do, sign him. Then, If they dont think a WR is worth that 26th pick, trade back into the early 2nd and take a guy like Kenny Britt or DHB. Use the extra picks to get a CB, DT, and LB. Also, if brandon pettigrew falls to use, there is no doubt in my mind that ozzie will snatch him up. Cam would have a guy who he can line up everywhere and use as a Gates or Witten.

FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re predicting that DHB isn’t going to be picked in the first round? Maybe it’s just all the Terp bias around here, but I’m under the impression that his stock is rising pretty fast.

Water covers 2/3 of the Earth's surface. Ed Reed covers the rest.

Gerry Sandusky, Ravens play by play announcer

Said that he thinks if the Ravens get DHB, we will be trading up in the 2nd round to take him. A little surprised by this, but it could happen man. Crabtree, Maclin, Hicks are considered to be better prospects then Hey-Bey.

Shit, if DHB was in the 2nd, I would be all for trading up to get him. Can you imagine if we got Brandon Pettigrew first round then Heyward-Bey in the 2nd? That would be something right there.

Very unlikely.

Oakland may actually take Heyward-Bey in the first round. I know… I know… He’s not worth a top-ten pick, but when was the last time that Oakland did something that made sense? Al Davis is drawn to fast players like a moth to the flame.

hmmm...

how about crabtree?
