breaking news

Anita Marks (who I really dislike but that is immaterial) just reported on The Fan that the Ravens have significantly stepped up their offer to Ray Lewis and the two sides are hammering out a deal before the start of free agency. (HOPE IT WORKS)

Other news already reported is that the Ravens have broken off talks with Jason Brown's team and have told him that he no longer fits in their plans. (BUMMER)

Finally, the Ravens apparently have upped their offer to Bart Scott and he may be close to resigning as well (THAT"S GREAT)

The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

I am liking it

As much as I love Brown, I just cannot stand the fact of losing Ray, I just cant live with myself for it. Brown was not always our set center, so we truly never had one who will be there for all 16 games. He was by far our best O-Lineman, but we have great depth and there are a few good centers in the draft this year.

You have to hate losing more than you love winning.

agreed. at this point, i would like to get it over with. Its like dead man walking. just finish it already.

Exactly

Fact of the matter is that we were going to have to get rid of one of these 3 guys in order to keep 2 of them, hopefully. Just glad it is starting to come to an end. I knew at least 1 would have to leave, and I am so glad that AT THE MOMENT it is not Ray. I am going to be on the edge of my seat waiting for Ray to sign those papers with us.

Bye Bye Ray!

Ray is going to chase money! Dallas will offer him more. End of story. It isn’t rocket science. To boot, doesn’t it piss you off that Ray said it was “his dream to have a star on his helmet”? That’s crap!

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

If you did some research

you would find out that there has been little to no talk about bringing Ray to Dallas. Jerry has to worry about signing Ware to the biggest defensive contract in league history and a 1.3 billion dollar stadium.

Those comments of Ray supposedly wanting to wear the star came out nearly 3 weeks after they were reportedly said. I guarantee story upon story upon story got passed out and tweaked each time. I wont believe it till it happens.

Perhaps.

I suppose it’s more me wanting to see the raven fans implode if he leaves.

Give it up

Ray will finish his career in a Ravens uniform and terrorize your RB’s again next season (wahhhh, I broke my shoulder blade, wahhh!). Dallas has no cap space and no one else wants our “old and slow” star MLB. That’s all good by me, as our old and slow MLB is still the best MLB in the league by far! Together with the re-signing of Bart Scott, then this defense will be back in force, healthy and readyto rumble with Pittsburgh two-three more times, with of ocurse, a slightly different outcome. Did I say “slightly!?”

dude, don’t mistake that B-more fans do realize big money to ray is a gesture of appreciation for past work. knowing he is not the force he was also makes us realistic about him leaving. not a big deal really. who knows the next LB might be better or more of sack beast..ya never know. but B-more won’t be held hostage by a declining player. i won’t care much. i am more excited to get some young legs flying around at that positon. ray might have a star on his helmet and i’d like to see ray with stars floating around his helmet when NFC East RB’s jack him up. Think he can hang with Portis and Westbrook in open space..lol.

If yelling and dancing around like a jackass makes you the best.....

by all means, he is the THEE BEST MLB in the league! You are correct sir.

Even so

you still can’t name a better one. James Farrior? Me thinks NOT!

Rexx

by Rexx on Feb 26, 2009 5:28 PM EST up reply actions

I didn't even bring up Farrior.

But, now that you mention it, I would definitely take Farrior over Ray ‘the knife’! Statistically speaking, they were about deadlocked in the 2008 season. Farrior had more solo and assisted tackles, and Ray had more FFs, and INTs. So, if I had to pick one now, I would do away with all the showboating, dancing, and yelling, and take Farrior! So back to the statement about being the best MLB in the NFL, “me thinks not”, or so stats say.

Shows what you know

Harrison and Woodley are excellent OLB but Farrior is so much more on the downside of his career. Everyone runs away from those outside LB’s so that’s why Farrior gets his stats. Teams gameplan away from Ray but he still gets his, because he is the best student of the game and nobody watches tape and dissects opponents like him.

Ok, we’ll just agree to disagree.

seriously though, i just don’t care anymore when it reaches a late in the career massive cap busting pay day. i’ve seen it kill teams for years. what are we paying for? yesterday or tomorrow? is ray worth 13 million tomorrow? no. okay so why pay him that? He’s a leader?….then fire the D coordinator because he can’t get his job done without ray…I believe that Ngata, Reed and Suggs will pull the guys together just fine. Ray is my favorite player all time but i’m not prepared to pay for anything other than what he is at this very moment.

Don't Sweat It

Ozzie is smart. He will pay Ray what the market bears. If its too much to make sense, then he won’t. Either way we will be alright.
