Rod Woodson to HOF, Sharpe doesn't make cut
I don't know how many here remember the contributions that Rod and Sharpe made for the Ravens during their time in Baltimore, but those that do I think can agree with me about being very appreciative for what they both did in the combined six seasons that they gave to our fans. Rod played four seasons and Shannon played for two. I really felt for Sharpe not being inducted this year as did Rod who played with him in Baltimore for two seasons which were very exciting to watch, as Sharpe quickly became a fan favorite. Honestly I remember more of Sharpe's days in Baltimore than Rod but I remember along with Sharpe he gave his best effort and was a key part of the franchise. Anyone who has anything else to share about these two players, I would like the comments, thanks.

Sharpe deserves to be in the Hall
and he will get in, just not now on the first ballot. At the time of his retirement, he held almost every record for a tight end, until KC’s Tony Gonzalez started breaking them. He’ll get in at some point but perhaps many thought he was not first ballot HOF-er. Rod was great wherever he played and proved he could make the transition from CB to safety once he lost his speed, because he could use his head to be successful. However, I do expect him to go into the Hall s a Steeler, which is probably the way it should be.

Shannon Sharpe and Rod Woodson were both key contributors to our Superbowl season.
Man, Sharpe was our best receiving weapon in 2000. Woodson was arguably even more important, he had the smarts of Ed Reed and was constantly backing up Starks and McAlllister and enabling them to jump routes with impunity. In an all-time Ravens team, Rod Woodson would be lining up next to Ed Reed in the defensive backfield.
Mile High Report is furious about Sharpe missing the cut, but I think it’s just a matter of the Hall of Fame trying to bring in defensive players.
Sharpe
Will get in. If you look at how long it took other greats at TE to get in, it is not really a surprise
Dave Casper 1974-1984 Class of 2002
Mike Ditka 1961-1972 Class of 1988
John Mackey 1963-1972 Class of 1992
Ozzie Newsome 1978-1990 Class of 1999
Charlie Sanders 1968-1977 Class of 2007
Jackie Smith 1963-1978 Class of 1994
Kellen Winslow 1979-1987 . Class of 1995
After checking out that list, my guess is Shannon gets in sometime around 2012-2018
Grrrrrrr
Sharpe is the best all around TE on that list. Tony G may be a little better, but Sharpe should get in no later than 2011.
Is there such a thing as a Playstation 3 Anonymous? I can't seem to stop thinking about or playing COD 4 and COD 5. I hear this is quite normal for a teenager, but I haven't been a teenager since Bill Clinton was frolicking with interns.
Great research!
No one made it in their first three years of eligibility (8 years after retiring), and only two made it then. Even Baltimore Colt great John Mackey, who totally redfeined the position into a pass catching one, took 20 years. Your guess, Dan is probably dead on. We’ll see and if we’re all still here on the Beatdown, you can tell us you called it!

Agree with everyone, Sharpe gets in soon enough.
Also, Cris Carter not getting in is a little bit disgusting. He’s second in most receiving categories to only the games best receiver ever, Jerry Rice.
I was surprised by that also
I thought Carter was a lock for sure. I guess they said he could wait a little longer.
FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mile High Report, they’re saying they just know and we will see Tony Gonzalez get in on first ballot. Sounds like a little hate, eh?

Tony will shatter every TE record and is a lock for HOF but I doubt he'll get in Year One
I think its funny how much the HOF is based on precedent. I mean, we all know Sharpe is a HOF’er but b/c of history, they won’t let him get in before 3 years, minimum.
Likewise, in baseball, you see slam dunk players getting elected to Cooperstown, but never with 100% of the vote. The thought process is that if Hank Aaron and other all time greats did not get 100% of votes, why should Cal Ripken, Tony Gwynn or and other deserving player.
Whoever didnt vote for Hank Aaron
Does not know anything about baseball. That is just atrocious.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
