Was Warner's Last Attempt a Forward Pass?

Steelers fan here, with great dislike for your Ravens, but with a great deal of respect for their play.  I want to know if you folks honestly think that Warner's last attempt was a forward pass.  I don't want to know if you think it should have been reviewed (I think that already - there was no excuse for that).  I just want to hear if you think it was not a fumble.  I hope you'll view the footage anew and let me know.  I can't see how any fan familiar with defense could disagree with that call, but let me know.

the ball was in his hand going forward. if it was caught it would have been a pass and catch. he was hit and tried to shot put the ball away. he had enough control to move the ball forward in a passing motion. who’s to grade a guy on his actual grip.

i was absolutely amazed they didn’t spend more time reviewing it. it was Ben’s Big Lucky Year. live by the sword die by the sword..when he tries the crazy ass u-turns and drunkin’ zig zags next year karma will great him and plant his beer gut in the sod.

Almost the Hartwig Hold game...damn..

I was hoping this was going to go down as the big Hartwig Hold game. His life in Pitt. would be over.

Looking at the replay i still think he was in the process of fumbling. But they still should have at least looked at it. With 5 seconds left in the Super Bowl something that big needs to be reviewed.

I was hoping it was a pass, but there definitely wasn’t enough there to overturn the call on the field. Then again, you never know with the ref’s this year.

Water covers 2/3 of the Earth's surface. Ed Reed covers the rest.

It was reviewed, guys!

They reported that up in the box it was reviewed but they saw it clearly as a fumble so there was no reason to even stop the next play. to me, I saw it as a forward pass. Just like the steelers win in Baltimore, I wanted to keep the questionable calls from the refs out of it and let the teams decide the game. Give the ball back to the Cards and let them try to win it and let the best defense in football try to stop him.

Something tells me if it was Roethlisberger “fumbling” instead, it would have resulted in a stoppage in play and a forward pass – or a TD!

Tell the truth Rexx....

“Just like the steelers win in Baltimore, I wanted to keep the questionable calls from the refs out of it and let the teams decide the game. Give the ball back to the Cards and let them try to win it and let the best defense in football try to stop him.”

Nice sentence Rexx…too bad it’s total bull. You wanted the Steelers to lose. Re-read your pre-superbowl post about how a Steelers win would make you ‘regurgitate.’ How’s that going by the way?

The sad thing about all the back and forth between our two teams – 95% of it is about mutual respect, 4% is due to drunks on both sides, and 1% is due to moronic behavior on both sides. I can guarantee you that if the Ravens were in the big game, 95% of Steeler Nation would have been rooting for you guys to bring it back for our division and the conference. It must be a sad existence when the fervor for your own team has to come from hatred for us. If you would happen to beat us next year, wouldn’t it be better to say you beat the defending Super Bowl Champs? Flacco’s going to be a year older and wiser, awesome coach for you guys, so much to look forward to….and you guys are writing posts about how much you hate the Steelers and lucky calls.

BTW – hope you guys keep Ray. Rivalry wouldn’t be the same without him.

I did tell the truth!

I did say it will be better to beat you as World Champs. Sorry about the hate, but that’s the way I, along with most football fans outside of Pittsburgh feel. Enough of the Steelers winning all the time, we’re tired of it, just can’t seem to do a damn thing about it. Mad respect to doing whatever it takes to win, as you’ve done it to us and all season long, which is why you’re hoisting the Lombardi Trophy now.

As far as the “regurgitation” thing. Thanks for bringing it up. Reeeccchhhhh!!!

One of these days, Rothlisberger will be paralyzed then life will be so much easier.

How’d that work out? Did you guys take back his money after the first play of the Superbowl?

you’re pathetic

if it makes you feel any better....

…I nearly threw up myself during that 4th quarter. In regards to the hate outside of Pittsburgh – I do think this whole “Steeler Nation” thing is close to peaking and heading down the other side. I just hope we don’t become as hated as the Patriots.

Looking forward to next year’s battles!

I dont think the Pats are hated as much as Pitt

People might think they are, but they love to hate the Pats because of how good they are and how perfect they can play football sometimes.

An enjoyable win for Steelers fans involves Rufflesburger throwing for 14/29, 189 yards, 1 td, 2 ints. Parker gets 78 yards and a TD, Harrison gets some sacks, Palamalalalau does backflips and catches a ball with his ****, for a 16-9 victory and steeler nation is happy.

People love to hate the Pats, but people, like me, FUCKING HATE THE STEELERS!!!! They are dirty, just like that whole city of low class no lifes. They are the most bi-polar fans in the NFL. One minute they want Dennis Dixon, their 3rd string QB, to come in because Ben looks like he is running after a hot slice of supreme pizza on the sideline and gets rid of the ball ASAP. Then the next minute, steeler nation is on their knees, and they arent saying prayers for Ben. No wonder those fans call him BIG Ben, we all know how they love their Big Boys.

You have to hate losing more than you love winning.

sorry dude.....

I was actually replying to Rexx. I really don’t read anything that you write.

Rexx – good luck next year! Hope you guys go 14-2 next year with your two losses to us. Hopefully we can both take advantage of the NFC North and AFC West next year. Enjoy your offseason!

to put an end to this post and prepare for next year:

Yes it was a forward pass and the NFL made sure the Steelers won with a bunch of bad calls like the Ravens were victimized with. Lucky Steelers found more luck and lucked out again. They’ll be lucky to get to 8-8 next year. Lucky MFR’s.

by raven on Feb 5, 2009 12:03 PM EST reply actions

lucky

The refs took a TD off the board, took one of our two fumbles, and took away a first down and gave the Cards two points because our center fell down and you call us lucky!?!

How many times was Harrison held this year? He STILL got DMVP!

Yeah, we are lucky, but not because of the refs.

6 Time World Champions, bitches.

Lucky Steelers

come on man….it’s all the game i have when trying to stir up some false sense of pride in losing to you 3 times in 4 months.
