Daunte Culpepper Starting for Lions Against Ravens
From www.NFL.com
ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions plan to rest rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford's banged-up, non-throwing shoulder for at least one game.
They don't expect to shut him down for the rest of the season.
Lions coach Jim Schwartz said Wednesday that Daunte Culpepper will start this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens and Stafford likely will be the No. 3 quarterback.
Stafford aggravated his left shoulder during last Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
"If he hadn't taken that hit in the fourth quarter of the Cincy game, we wouldn't be having this discussion," Schwartz said. "It was a very similar hit to the one that he took in the Cleveland game, and we want to avoid the situation where it becomes something chronic.
Man, I was really looking forward to have the DB's feel what it is like to intercept a rookie 3 times this year.

When I interviewed Dannell Ellerbe in Training Camp...
I asked him if he was looking forward to laying against his Georgia teammate in this game and he said he was. When I asked what he might say while laying on top of him after a sack, he said he’d prefer to keep it clean in this interview!
Too bad he won’t have a chance now but great that an undrafted rookie LB is able to break into the starting lineup on this LB-heavy team!
Doesn’t matter who’s starting for the Lions, we beat the bad teams, just not the good ones. Besides Stafford had nothing to fear about his shoulder as we put no pressure on the QB anyway! Culpepper will be a load to bring down. Don’t be surprised to see a lot of missed classic Ravens arm tackles on him.

I would like
our offense develop some type of swagger against this team. This is just doctor ordered. First Lion, then Bear, then steeler. If we can regroup through the first two games back to our winning form, we will have a good chance against steeler.
