Toss Up: Derrick Mason or Donald Driver?

I've been thinking about this question for a while and watching last night's game reminded me of it. Its funny how comparable Derrick Mason and Donald Driver can be. Who is more durable and who would you rather have? They both it seems, are past the prime of their careers but while Derrick in his 13th season, will most likely retire next season, Donald just keeps on ticking and in his 11th season still looks as durable and athletic as he always has. He put a nifty move on Foxworth last night but who couldn't...still his second effort to dive in the endzone was impressive and showed how timeless he's become. Honestly its a tough choice for me and I've always preferred Derrick Mason but with Driver being a close second I'm not sure how much of that is just bias. At this point I don't think too many people would argue that they they would trade our receiving core for Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and James Jones. I've always thought that was one of the best core of receivers in the NFL but that's for another discussion. Check below the jump and give me your opinion on who you would rather have. Thanks.

Donald has more big play potential and is more phyiscal.
Mason is a better route runner and has better hands.

I think it’s funny how Terrell Owens dissed us years ago and still can’t find a decent team. He is now confined to Buffalo and plays games in Canada. LOL. I love it.

Watch

Buffalo doesn’t want him anymore and he’s beginning to look like he’s heading here IMO.

YES!

Please, please, and please! He is the type of fire and energy that we need. We always talk about how our WR do not step up and make plays for us. Who is one player who demands that he steps up and makes a play every time? Terrell Owens.

God, if we brought him here and got someone in the draft, my life would be complete.

Tough choice. At this point I would probably choose Driver just because he is a year younger and at this points, looks like he’ll be able to play 3-4 more years. But I wouldn’t necessarily say Mason looks like he wouldn’t be able to play a while more either. I don’t know, tough choice.

This team desperately needs Mason to be the #2 WR

That would mean we have a prolific offense if he is #2.

No brainer

Driver’s YPR is much higher this year and career. He makes plays downfield and over the middle, where I’ve never even see Derrick run.

Agree

Mason is better possession and route runner, but Driver is everything you want. He can burn you deep, burn your short, and goes across the middle. If Mason catches a ball in the middle of the field, he immediately curls up in a ball while still in the air and hits the ground right away. No YAC.

"Never even seen Derrick run." Disagree

That’ a bit much because actually Mason has two thousand plus more yards in his career than Driver even though Driver has more yards than him so far this season. Of course at this point Driver is better because he has longevity on his side but when the two were in their prime it was tough to pick his better. To the point though, I’ve seen Mason run after catches for decent yards and mind you if he got more of the opportunity too we would be able too see more of that from him.

Really? The only time I've seen Mason run

is when the Browns defenders fell down and also he ran over to the refs complaining!

Mason’s idol Michael Jackson didn’t like to run either. Just a few quick moves and off the stage.

The King of Pop

might have made a great wide receiver. He could pump up the team before the game, as he has the same high voice as Ray!

Dead MJ. Great name for a band.

Devil's Advocate

I think it’s easy to say Driver, but he has always had a great reciever playing with him.. Jennings now, and Walker back when he was in his prime.. Mason is doing what he’s doing basically by himself
