Which Ravens' Team Shows Up in Cincinnati on Sunday?

Will it be the monochromatic one that played boring and uninspired football for 59 minutes and then wilts with their back against the wall and lets the Bengals roll down the field in the last seconds, helping them along the way with a couple of key penalties in easily their worst showing of the year? Or will it be the one that we saw this past Sunday that totally dominated the Denver Broncos on both sides of the ball in every matchup in the trenches, backfield and secondary as well as special teams?

(More on "Which Ravens' Team Shows Up..." after the 'Jump')

Star-divide

The Ravens could only muster 14 points versus the Bengals in Baltimore while they have scored over 30 points a game in five of the seven games this season. Remember the poorly thrown Red Zone interception that Joe Flacco threw on the first offensive series of that game? Points there could have easily made the difference in the outcome but were left on the field. Zero pass rush resulted in letting Bengals QB Carson Palmer just sit back and go through his reads, finally finding his #3 option for the game winner with seconds left.

If the Ravens can put anywhere near the pressure on Palmer that they did this past weekend on Denver's Kyle Orton, it should make a huge difference. While usually not a big part of the pass rush, the extent of DT Haloti Ngata's ankle sprain is worrisome to the team and fans. However, the results from the Bye week and Defensive Coordinator Greg Mattison's blitzing game plan certainly contributed to the win in a big way and we should all expect that to be the formula for future success.

But which team comes out of the tunnel in Cincinnati this coming Sunday? While we know which team the Ravens fans are rooting for, we also know which team the Bengals are rooting for and they are definitely not the same. The so-called "experts" seem to feel that it will be the more recent one, as they have surprisingly installed Baltimore as a three-point favorite on the road. I guess we'll all see, eh? Your comments?

probably the crappy one!

Just as obvious of a question...

Which Bengal team will show up? They have been just as iffy in games. One week they beat Pittsburgh, next week they barely beat the Browns. They beat us, then lose to the Texans.

The answer is...

…the tough, aggressive, hard-hitting, high-scoring team that is our beloved Baltimore Ravens! Who else? I mean we got the poison sucked out of our veins during the bye week and replaced it with high octane petrol! Go Ravens!!!

by Smiley4660 on Nov 3, 2009 12:06 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

A Couple differences from last time

Biggest difference is that Gaither is back and Odom is out for the Bengals. With Gaither the Ravens are 4-0, and without him we are 0-3. Obviously Oher did well on the left side during those games, but not having the combo really affected the offensive line.

Also, the last time we played the Bengals, we were coming off a horrible loss to the Patriots, and had a bitter taste in our mouths. This time we are coming off a dominating victory and flying high, so there is a big difference psychologically.

And of course, this is close to a must win game for the Ravens, since a loss would put us way behind the Bengals in the AFCN race. Next week the Bengals travel to Pittsburgh, while the Ravens only have to go to the Browns on Monday night.

Ahhh, so that means

after the next two weeks, we will be 6-3 and the Bengals 5-4? Sweet for us, not for them! Tough.

Oddsmakers base their lines on who they think the public will bet on

With the Ravens defeating an unbeaten Broncos team it’s reasonable to think that the public will buy into them. If I wasn’t a fan of either team I would be wary of that line though. You’re playing a team at home that beat you on the road. Both teams are coming off wins where they arguably played their best ball of the season. I’m not saying the Ravens will lose or the Bengals will win. Just putting it out there. I think this will be a good game and I’m looking forward to it!

by WhoDeyDerek on Nov 3, 2009 8:55 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I can’t think of a time when the oddsmakers were wrong…..Except for every time we were listed as underdogs this entire season (including against the Bears two weeks ago).

Ravens are playing great football right now, but expect a fight this week.

Yes

Its the same way for me brotha, anyway, The Ravens need to come with the same team and same gameplan that we did for the Broncos. Rush the quarterback and watch everything else fall into place. The offense should make things happen even though they didnt last time we played Bengals but that was the whole team just not showing up to play. If the offense does what it does and the defense manages the same gameplan they did on sunday, I dont see it being a close game.

We will see last week's team

All season the Ravens have been trying to regain their natural swagger and they finally found it again. I think they had to just believe in themselves. Assume the refs will give the other team some freebies every week but don’t let that mess up our game plan. We have it back and the confidence from last week will carry on. Seeing Ed Reed coming back to life was nice and also even saw Landry make a few plays. Let’s let Ledarius Webb do some corner backing. The kid is ready and we saw how much of a play maker he is.

There waiting for the locks to be taken off the exit gates. It took Paul Brown years to get that many in and damn if he’s going to let them leave before 1/2 time again.

HAHAHAHHA. Look at the people with their hand over their hearts and hats in their hands.

HAHHAHAHAH Oh man, nice try TennBengalsFans. Not sure which number is lower, the amount of teeth in your mouth or you IQ. Maybe the most idiotic attempt at an insult in history.

haha my man Malor

Malor and Me just noticed at the same time its the national anthem haha, all you have to do is look at the pic for 5 seconds…even Rams, Skins, and Browns fans all stand at this moment of the game TennBengalsFans, your franchise is about as equally as worthless so you all have something in common. Tits Mcgee is prolly in the locker room shittin out the grande meal from Taco Bell while this pic was taken reading his newest edition of Jenny Craig magazine.

poor comeback.

i mean honestly why don’t you just admit that you tried to post an image that would make bengals fans look hardcore, then you got called out for it being the national anthem, and now you look stupid.

Black Canary Stadium?

Lol. Did you know that before the new Dallas stadium was built, M&T Bank Stadium was considered by many to be the BEST stadium in the NFL?

I think this will officially be the last time we see TennBengalFan. Poor guy. I give him a C+ for effort though. Even if it was fans actually standing FOR THE GAME, and not the NATIONAL ANTHEM, I do not see where there would be an insult.

Bengals fans standing...

That picture was taken 2 hours after the game…the fans wanted an encore…what is wrong witth those people….I do like the American flag though…doesn’t look right with Bengals fans though! :—)

About the standing...

I’ve never been to Baltimore’s stadium so I have no idea about this. Do the fans stand most of the game? If you’re in the lower level of the Bengals stadium the fans will stand the whole time except after plays/timeouts/ basically when there’s no action to be seen. So I’m just wondering if it’s the same deal at Baltimore?

Even Bengals fans joke around about him. Titts McGee is sort of his unofficial nickname.

I wanted to ask

what did ya’ll think about the no huddle offense. personally i liked it, i think we play well in an uptempo style, like the 4 or 2 minute drill. Flacco seems to excel at that

by sam_ravens on Nov 4, 2009 3:58 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I like the hurry up. With Raven Ray Rice Receiving Running Randomly your pretty much safe running the hurry up. If there’s a break down because of the hurry up he is an easy outlet. I’d like to see it more. With his speed and quick hooks, Mason also makes it a safe game plan.

How come their stadium is named after a Baltimore TV Station (PBS)?

Mon-Sat at PBS they show historic Ken Burns movies about Cincy jobs. There’s a shot of Whodey snagging some bread from a dumpster as people burn furniture in the street for heat.
