Troy Polamalu and BIG BEN are reported out
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/28/glazer-roethlisberger-out-with-concussion/
This should greatly increase the chances of the ravesn winnnign the game. Hopefully Greg Mattison can create a quick game plan for Dixon a running QB.
:Despite several days of optimism regarding the availability of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for Sunday night's game against the Ravens, Roethlisberger will not play, according to Jay Glazer of FOX, via Twitter.
Glazer reports that Roethlisberger has been suffering from exercise-induced headaches. Thus, the team has decided to shut him down.
Starting for the Steelers will be Dennis Dixon, a fifth-round pick in 2008 who slid down the draft board after suffering a torn ACL during the 2007 college football season. (He actually played with the injury for one game before getting surgery to repair it.)
Dixon steps in because veteran Charlie Batch suffered a wrist injury during the handful of snaps he took in overtime on Sunday against the Chiefs, after Roethlisberger took a knee to the head.
Doubts regarding Roethlisberger's availability for Sunday first emerged on Friday, when Jason La Canfora of NFLN reported that Roethlisberger might miss the game."
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

Yes and no
Yes because it gives us a much better chance to win, but no because I really wanted to beat the Steelers at their best.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.

Oh, please
The standings couldn’t care less who played or not. A win is a win and we’ll take them any way we can, and besides, we’ll get another chance in a few w2eeks to prove we can beat them at full strenght, when both Troy and Ben should be ready.

either way
A win is a win, and we can beat the steelers at their best when we play them again, and hopefully our playoff chances are better

but, what if??
Edge definitely now goes to the Ravens. But can you imagine if the Steelers win? What would that say about the rivalry & the state of the Ravens? Smart move regardless, Ben is a big part of Steeler future & to risk further injury on Sunday is not worth one win. Good call Tomlin.
Where Have You Gone Johnny U?
It's an
extremely smart call and should be the standard of the rest of the league. I don’t doubt that there are other organizations that would allow Ben to play, to his detriment. As much as I hate the Steelers, its moves like this that prove they are a quality organization.

Don't underestimate Dennis Dixon
He would have been a Heisman Finalist had he not torn his ACL. He also is a lot more elusive than Ben and can throw on the run and has practiced with the team for a couple of years now. Don’t count them out by any means and lets not take a win for granted knowing our team.
aka 'Rexx'
No offense Bruce but Troy Smith WON the Heisman, is more mobile than Flacco and Ben, and can throw on the run and he doesn’t exactly inspire fear in any defenses…
So?
I’m missing your logic. Dixon will be playing. Smith may get a few plays in but what does comparing the fear factor between the 2 have to do with the chances for a Steeler win? Bruce is cautioning on getting too excited about a sure win just because Ben is out. Anyone who thinks this game is a lock for the Ravens hasn’t watched either team this year. My concern with the Steelers this year has been their lack of intensity for 60 minutes. I have a feeling they’re gonna bring it Sunday.
Anybody remember a Raven 3rd string QB who got a chance to play because of injuries & illness & stepped up & showed what he has??
Where Have You Gone Johnny U?
Anyone remember a Steelers rookie QB coming in after the 1st and 2nd string were hurt?
Who's laughing now, O Line??? Ben Roethlisberger (from the Podium) to his O-Line and the world in Superbowl XLIII

I swear if the refs fuck us over on this one!!!!!
There should be no reason why we don’t win this game by at least 14, but i have a bad feeling that Pittsburgh D is going to have one of its best games ever and there going to win with defensive points.
FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahaha
Yeah the refs lost you that game against us last year in Baltimore. It wasn’t the fact that your defense let the Steelers march 92 yards down the field in the 4th quarter.

I was not talking about last year
That was our own fault. I’m talking about this year. All the games the refs have called terrible fouls on us to put the other team in postion to beat us.
FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Benji
Don’t blame the refs if the Ravens put them in the position to make a call that hurts us. That’s on us.

well said
good win last night. not sure why the Steelers went into a soft cover 2 zone when the had you guys pinned deep on 3rd and 22 and had good blitz pressure on Joe most of the night. the steelers fans like to rip Arians, but i think Dick Lebeau should have stuck with the blitz in that situation. believe it or not, that’s how we won at Detroit, blitzed the last 4 plays of their final drive. oh well, like i said, good win and we’ll see you guys in the burgh for what we both hope is a meaningful game.
