Ravens Dominate Broncos 30-7
Post your game thoughts on the Baltimore Ravens convincing 30-7 win over the Denver Broncos at M&T Bank Stadium. It's about time this team played up to expectations and totally shut down the Broncos offense and proved their defense might have been good in the first six games, but was very pedestrian today, with the Ravens scoring 24 points in the second half, starting with Lardarius Webb's return for a touchdown off the second half opening kickoff.
More to follow shortly.

congratulations to the Ravens
and to your fans, as well as everyone @ Baltimore Beatdown from a Broncos fan over @ MHR
great gameplanning, better execution, and just an all around solid game from your squad. dominating on both lines, which is really the story of the game for me.
trying hard to find fault with our guys, but anything i can point to where we may have shot ourselves in the foot, i still have to come back and credit the Ravens for just a great game on the field. we were outclassed (today)
no tears in our beers from this Broncos fan.

Lol
Why didn’t we ever cut hauschka after that Viking game? He was only 3 for 3 when we really needed points. Our secondary is trash, couldn’t stop the god, Brandon Marshall. Dumervill is just a man child, he was getting sacks all god damn day. How is any team going to stop “DOOM”? We only scored 30 points on a defense who allowed 66 all year. Only 24 in the second half ravens? Pathetic. Season over Baltimore.

The Ravens D
was just too much, and the adjustments made at half with the KO return TD to start the 2nd half just killed any motivation the Broncos had. They just laid down and died after that. I hope the Broncos can get a rematch with the Ravens in the Playoffs! GO Broncos! Back to MHR, where the comment box is orange, not lavender…yuck! ;-)

Well Done, Guys
Great game by the Ravens against a very good team. After 3 close losses, the D finally stepped up. Joe Flacco and Ray Rice continue to impress on offense. The coaching staff deserve some credit for adjustments to correct our weaknesses in defending the pass. Only one sour note. Need to stop taking stupid penalties.

by Mr MaLoR on Nov 1, 2009 5:12 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, that call on the long pass was ridiculous
When the ref that was right in front of the play doesn’t make a call and one from the complete other side of the field finally does, that looks really bad for the refs. Then two more calls, although the offsides and PI looked pretty obvious and walla, Denver has their only score.
Combine that gift with the poor call on Oher for pushing when we had a first and goal inside the 10 yard line and ended up settling for a FG, the score could have been 34-0!
aka 'Rexx'

The Derrick Mason non call is what pissed me off
In the 1st quarter, there was a crucial 3rd down pass to Mason on the left side and he could not catch it because the CB had a hand full of jersey. The ref’s for some reason could not see this, but could see that the coaches were very upset by the lack of the call and decided to penalize US 15 yards for complaining. Then those assholes in the stripes refused to look at the jumbotrons to see the obvious hold.
Whatever though, they tried to lose it for us today but we just played too good of football to let them ruin my Sunday!

in any event
harbaugh looked like he dropped a few “F” BOMBS on Mason on the sideline after he got flagged. the bottom line is that even if the refs are against you, then you just have to outplay the refs too. You can’t let it get to you and cost you yards, because more often than not it costs you games.
good teams take bad calls, bad luck, bad everything, and win anyway. If you’re good enough, all of those things don’t matter. You just have to be that good.

At least that penalty meant nothing
because w ejust were punting either way. Hopefully it helped the refs know we were watching them. Not really, as they called two more on us so the Broncos could score their only TD. Fianl score, Ravens 30- Referees 7!
aka 'Rexx'
by Bruce Raffel on Nov 2, 2009 5:28 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
yeah that penalty didn’t affect the game as much as others have, but you see my point. The bottom line is that even if you lose because of bad officiating, you still lost. I somehow doubt there’s that many people around the NFL who look at those games and say “well the Ravens only lost because of bad officiating so I think that should count as a win for them.” If you lose you lose. You just can’t lose, regardless of the circumstances.

one of my favorite Johnny U principles
was that he would never, ever, throw the football to a receiver who wasn’t moving. He’d tell them “I don’t care if you’re 20 yards away from everybody. If you’re not moving, you’re not getting the ball.” You just wish some college (and pro) receivers would live by that logic. KEEP RUNNING UNTIL YOU’RE OPEN, and even IF you’re open! I was pretty shocked...
Going into halftime, I was worried. The Broncos have put up crazy points in the second half this season. Orton, aside from the screen that he should have planted into the ground as opposed to throwing it to Moreno played I thought a tremendous effort considering the incredible pressure being brought to him. O thought their defense played tremendous but just got tired out quicker than ours. But their fans shouldn’t be too down, the pretty much own their division in my mind.

Carr played a decent nickel back today and even had a great sack. Gotta give him credit that’s due, along w/ everyone else, but still say Webb should have earned punt returns now.

it was probably a morale thing
they wanted to give Carr a chance to regain his honor, which he did, so they gave him his initial duties back. It’s good for morale. Good for him.
I’m sure sooner or later though Webb will get the punt duties as well. He’s just too dangerous not to use there.

Today gave us a good but expected win for a team growing together. We stuck with the run even when Rice was caught behind the line on numberous occasions. In previous weeks, these little set backs had us turning to the passing game too quickly. This time, Cam let Rice continue to bang it out the tune of 24 carries for 80. McGahee and McClaine also got carries. Flacco threw for 150 some on 25 attempts. Real nice mix and it was a controlled O with little room left for mistakes.
Kelly Washington has really been a spark plug and his 4 catches today where all clutch. This guy is becoming a fan favorite-especially with his after catch dance moves. Todd Heap need to get it together. He seems to be getting a lazy with his blocks and gosh knows what he was doing getting hit by the snap. I just don’t see him playing 100% for the entire play or game. He might just be winding down his career or injured again.
Finally, we had some creativity with the blitz. Chris Carr with a sack? Nice. Reed blitzing again along with JJ. I could watch JJ blitz all day. He is our game changer on that line. Nice job for a D-line that has been called out by fans most of the year.
No issues with Cam’s play calling today. He kept the foot on the gas and played to win. Again, some bad calls almost derailed the Ravens. I just don’t understand the total randomness of penalties. The hold on Mason was obvious with his jersey pulled 2 feet from his back. The hold by Ray Lewis in the end zone on the TE was hardly a brush. The alledged arm bar on Marshall was a very weak call. We overcame.
Harbaugh’s speech to his players after the game in the locker room was kind of telling of the Raven’s season. He seemed to be asking for the teams patience with the coaches as he, in so many words, stated that they were all working together and trying to make the players better. There was a tone of – ’we’re trying and please help us help you’. The increased carries by McClaine may have been in line with these feelings.
I think we have a team that can go deep in the playoffs and we needed this game to get on the same page. I feel that the coaches, the offence, the defence and the special teams have finally leveled out for a more equal team.
We slowly turned a long rounded corner over the past 4 games. We consistantly improved, stuck together (accept MaLor) and dealt with painfully close defeats. After today, we just might be on that freshly paved highway to the playoffs we were looking for. As Habaugh said today “WE HAVE HEART!!”.

wait... wait... lemme get the sign...
c’mon son
C’mon son! You won a squeaker in Baltimore against a Ravens team that was clearly not playing its best football. Now while you obviously can beat us twice just like you beat us once, let us not forget that you took the lead with 22 seconds on the clock. Let us also not forget that the Ravens just rediscovered their pass rush against one of the NFL’s best Offensive Lines. And, let us also not forget that one of the game-breakers in our previous matchup was Odom, who will be absent from Sunday’s game.
Did you read the little cardboard sign I held up?
c’mon son

You funky helmeted mongaloids are going to eat my fat crow Sunday. What high school lot will the Ravens have to play on this time around? I like how you wrap the public school fields with that cheap rollout jungle art. Looks like a friggin putt putt course at an RV stop. Where’s the rickety windmill. You have the big clown mouth receiving.

The Rain Forrest Cafe in Towson Mall is more of a jungle than that stinkhole in Cinci. They fake crocodile their scares me more than the Bengals do at this moment.

That croc is fake?
Wow, my bad. I think I want to win in Cincy more to shut Who-Dey up more than going 5-3, but will gladly take BOTH!

Ok Bruce...and Ravens fans...
…I’m here, as promised to eat my crow (wish it was Raven, less bones). Heck of a “Beatdown” administered to my Broncos yesterday, can’t say I like it…but good for you!!
Dominant D, great O (against our D…WOW!!). I can’t say much more, your team just plain TOOK IT!!
Congrats, Ravens fans…see ya in the AFC Championship game.

Great win! Congratulations!
You guys came out of the bye with a vengeance. You dominated the Broncos like we did the Bears. This upcoming game in Cincy looks to be a make or break game for the season. Either of us can survive a loss and still be in contention but when is the last time we went into the second half of the season with the division this close. I have said many times that I think the Bengals are still another good off season from joining the Ravens and Steelers in the division hunt. Don’t expect the Bengals to fold. They may lose some games but they will fight hard to win to the end. If the Ravens and Steelers get it all together and play at the top level of their capability I think the Bengals will have a tough time. It is tough being in a division where two teams are as perennially as good as the Steelers and Baltimore. If. however you guys let down or have a couple of bad weeks we will be right on your heels. The Ravens and Steelers are great teams. Beating out one of you for the division is hard but beating out both of you is a seriously difficult task. This is a respect year for the Bengals and it is not completely a forgone conclusion that we can’t win the division or wildcard slot. It is however going to be a tough task. My hope is that at the end of the year the Bengals will be regarded as worthy opponents. IMO we are still a player or two and a year of experience away from being serious contenders. Till then I am confident we will play hard to the end no matter what the score is. Play hard. Play to the end and you have great chance to win as I think you are a slightly better team but let up, take us for granted, thunk we are the same old Bungles and we could very well beat you. Again congratulation on a dominate win and here is to a hard fought game where the players and not the refs decide the outcome and no lasting injuries.

More important for us than Cincy
We lose twice to you and our season is pretty much over with two games against the Steelers and another vs. Indy ahead of us. If you lose, you’re still in it and besides anything positive is more than what wa expected for you guys while we expect to be there in January.

Good point
That attitude here is what we hope to change Bruce. We need to expect to be there too. But that is not something you build over night. Don’t misunderstand me, I think we could be right there at the end. I also don’t agree that with a loss to Cincy you guys are out of it. The road will be tougher but your team seems to thrive on the pressure of needing to win when your back is against the wall.
OK I will admit I am looking for any advantage. I heard the Ngata sprained his ankle. How bad was it? Without him or with him being less that 100% our job running the ball is just a bit easier and the key for the Bengals is getting Benson in gear. If he can get some yardage like last time and with Carson finally hitting stride our chances of pulling out a victory improves – not a lot – but a little. I would never wish injury on a player as that is just not my style but it is what it is and as part of the game it can increase our odds. I think you guys will win if you play at your top level. My fellow Bengal fans stomp me for saying this but I don’t see the Bengals being quite there yet but I am pretty happy with where we are as a team. I really think that next year could be our year.
You are correct though. As long as the Bengals continue to play strong and hard we should win our share of games in the second half. We may come up short though. That is not defeatism – it is just reality.

Nothing official on Ngata
but we are stacked with interior d-linemen and did just fine w/o him the rest of the Bronco game.
Surprisingly, the “experts” agree with us, and have the Ravens as a 3 point favorite in your house, after you already beat us! Wow.
