"In a blockbuster trade, the Cleveland Browns have traded wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets, signaling that the Browns are in serious rebuilding mode -- and that the Jets are serious about winning right now.
Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the trade. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports later reported that the Jets sent two draft picks, wide receiver Chansi Stuckey and linebacker Jason Trusnik to Cleveland."

huge news thanks for the update

I hate it
Rex knows what the hell he is doing and is on pace to build a dynasty faster than we are. Already giving his QB elite weapons, he might have learned from last year what a rookie QB with average WR can do. 29th in the league passing is what we had, and that’s what Sanchez looked like he was on pace for. Damn, the Jets are scary good now. I’m sorry, but they may be all around better than we are.

Don't jump on their bandwagon so quick
remember they lost at NO in their first real road test, while we’ve came real close to going 2-0 in two tough venues!

Yea well Sanchez has someone to throw to now other than the defenders. Joe was doing the same thing last year, had no WR at first to get it to, so he just threw picks.
God, I hate that Rex Ryan is doing this freaking good right out of the gate. I’m not hopping on their wagon just yet, but I will say that their defense is better than ours at this point. Held Tom Brady AND Drew Brees without a TD?!? Doubt we would be able to hold both those guys under 4 combined.

No

That’s not why they threw picks. They made rookie mistakes, that’s why.
I will say that their defense is better than ours at this point. Held Tom Brady AND Drew Brees without a TD?!?
They have Darrell Reivis, and in my opinion that is why their D has been better so far. They have a top notch CB who can take the opposing teams best WR out of the game. We need to get our pass rush going to help out our CB’s.

Don't let the Jet's loss to NO full you
Everybody is going to struggle against the Saints now that they have a balanced offense and defense.
Even though I have a picture in my basement hung to high (hint-hint)of the Ravens sacking Rothlisberger, The jets are going to and may already be better then the Ravens.
Until we get some size and skills on the corners we suck.
The offense was tentative , but , they are entitled to and off game, They are good.

agreed
lets not give them too much credit just yet. For one, Edwards has had a case of the dropsies for as long as I can remember. For two, Sanchez can be counted on to lay a few more eggs this year, seeing as he IS a rookie.
I agree that it’s a smart move by them but I would stop short of “scary good” until they can a)sweep NE, and/or b) win games when they were playing from behind (being down 9-3 against a shaky Tom Brady isn’t a huge comeback in my mind—it was a one score game).

Steal
They gave up Chansi Stuckey and some other scrub LB. I don’t mean to sound like this, but Rex is doing everything right. I love the way Ozzie operates things, but he does have a few flaws. Rex was around our system long enough to see what we did not do, and he is doing it. IE go out and get a #1 WR who is a deep threat every time.

Lets see him make it through a season
How many teams have we seen come in and look great for the first part of the season, before falling apart down the stretch?
Jim Zorn and the Redskins come to mind. Last year they were 6-2 and a hot team in the NFC. Zorn was the big man in D.C. Now? Not so much. Things change quickly, so lets see Rex do it for an entire season.

Is this the same Braylon
that punched out LeBron’s bud and may face a suspension and can’t seem to catch a cold? Gee, why am I not sad we didn’t get him? Sorry, not stoked by the deal by any means. See how good a second year QB can be w/o a Braylon, Anquan or Marshall?

Agree with you Bruce
@ Malor – I think Braylon needs to prove he is still a number one guy. He had one great season, that’s it. He has been mediocre every other year.

in the words of the Big Tuna
“never confuse a good start with a good team.”
Time will tell how good the Jets really are. People are still figuring out how to play them and what their weaknesses are. Also, that’s going to be a very different New England team come rematch time.

If they weren't in our division
I’d say we should make a play for Cribbs but since they are, there is no chance they’d deal him to a hated division rival.
by DT711 on Oct 7, 2009 10:22 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Hate to say it but
I’d give them one of our reserve safeties (Zbi or Ruki) and a draft pick (lower round) for Cribbs. They’d be smart to take it too.

I'd do it in a heartbeat
He would add another much needed play maker to our squad. C’mon Mangini, do it!
by DT711 on Oct 7, 2009 10:51 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I would think about it but it would have to be a decent draft pick. But that doesnt matter. Mangini wont trade Special Teams players. He thinks thats the most important part of the game.

What happened to David Tyree?
Last I heard, he both wanted to come here and we were interested. Before we go giving away draft pics and/or valuable players from the 2nd string, shouldn’t we be looking at the best guys in the free agent pool?

why?
he got cut by NYG. Simple. I’m sure they took a look at him and decided that he wasn’t worth the phone call.
Bottom line is that the guy made an overrated catch in the Super Bowl, the credit for which really goes to Eli for avoiding the sack and throwing him a strike. It slipped through his hands initially but he held onto it with his helmet. It looks really cool on TV but you know in his mind he would have rather caught it with his hands. That was almost the worst drop of Super Bowl history.
Aside from that what does he really have on his resume? The guy just isn’t that good.

Yeah, he did get cut by NY. Probably so they could afford Eli’s overrated salary…
And frankly, I’d rather have a guy who can at least hang onto a pass off his helmet in a clutch situation than one who drops the ball after getting hit in the numbers.
And with Ayanbadejo gone for the season, and Chris Carr dropping the rock, we could probably use someone who has an earned rep (and Pro Bowl nod) as a Special Teams monster.
But yeah, other than those things, you’re right, he’s just no good…

Not saying to run Clayton out of town, but I think we all think Flacco (and Mason) could use more help than just Washington can give. And, sorry, Demetrius Williams ain’t it.

Hopefully Ozzie will do something about that after this year
Whether it be in the draft or FA or trade. I really don’t care. When Mason retires after this season, Clayton and Washington is not the group you want to lead Flacco to many Superbowls. Come on Ozzie, just one time brotha. Julio Jones, Dez Bryant (if all this NCAA crap gets cleared up with him) anybody who is a big time player! Pleaseeeeeeee

Agreed. It would be nice to get someone (a vet) in this year though, so he’s already familiar with the system when (if?) Mason’s only catches next year are from the paperboy.

But that is tough to do
There really is not alot to pick from as far as #1 vet WR. I think our best bet at this point is to use a first round pick for Dez Bryant or Julio Jones and breed him into our system. Boldin might be nice if ARI does not resign him, but he will be 30 after next season. Marshall is going no where and we will not go after Owens.
So drafting is probably our best bet at this point, which I would love to see.

Good for Ol' turkey-neck Rex.
He was doing a great job at mocking the Ravens/Steelers franchises; tough defense, big promising quarter-back, trying to develop a legit rivalry (w/ the New England pansies). But this is his first mistake, giving up draft picks and insiders for an in-consistent player. You build through the draft and free-agency, come on Rex, follow the Wizard!
