Oher Vs. Allen

I feel Oher has made a great push to be offensive rookie of the year with his play throughout the season.  It is not often that a rookie lineman can be thrown into a starting position let alone as left tackle by week 5.  He has always proven everyone wrong and continues to each week in the nfl.  The man went up against one of the best defensive players if not the best defensive player in the nfl sunday and for the most part, shut him down.  Minus a few miscues due to the noisy stadium and a sack, I believe Oher was one of the shining stars for the ravens yesterday.  The guy has a bright future and I am sure we all can not wait to see what else he can accomplish.

Interesting little battle going on between the two today if anyone was interested as well.  Keep your heads up baltimore fans.  For a second year quarterback with a second year running back and a rookie left tackle, I think it says a lot that we have been competitive in all of our games.  It takes time to build a franchise and we are taking all of the possible steps we can to move in that direction.  We have some weaknesses but we will bring it together and I would not count us out yet.

Oher shouldn’t say anything. I see the Raven way is rubbing off on him already. We lose and he talks smack.

I don't mind it

Everything he said was the truth. Its not like he over exaggerated anything. I know we lost and all, but Oher played a helluva game and should be allowed to talk a little junk.

I agree benji, it wasn’t like he said “I OWN JARED ALLEN AND I WILL FIGHT HIM.” He was just like “he gets paid more than me but I think I showed him that I know how to play football too.”

Allen is the baby in this, he let his frustration show with the “beat him like a red-headed stepchild” comment. Actually, Jared, 1-sack probably doesn’t back up that comment. Especially when that one sack was the only play where Oher seemed to make some sort of mistake and didn’t even initiate contact with him. Every time Oher made contact with Allen, he matched him if not out-matched him, with superior strength and impressive lateral agility. This kid was born to protect the blind side.

i cringed when I saw that Sandra Bullock was the star of the movie. I fear that it may be a cheese-fest, as “true story” movies generally are.

Couldn't agree more

I can’t stand Sandra Bullock. Not sure if I’m going to see it because of that, have to read the book though. I’m in the middle of Moneyball right now (also Michael Lewis).

Let Him Alone,

the guy plays with a chip on his shoulder, the way Ravens football should be played.

The defense is playing pigeon football.

Limp and dangling.

The Way Ravens

football SHOULD be played; not the way it is currently being played!

I think all Oher is saying, to which I agree, is....

….that most expected Allen to beat him “like a red-headed step-child.” (Will red-headed step children see this and start a protest?). But Allen beat him only a couple of times and Oher played as well as any veteran has done against Allen. Allen should give him his due like a pro and try to forget he is still wearing a mullet!

oher played fine but it was oher who fired the first shot. don’t have a problem with smack but it was the topic of the post. we are VERY lucky to have Oher. a HUGE signing. He’ll go pro-bowl with Rice and Flacco for years to come.

Oher??? HA HA HA HA HA HA WHAT A JOKE

Dude needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut… He got worked…. Now he has pissed of the most extreme DE in the game….I’d hate to be him if they ever meet face to face again. Vikings RULE YOUR WORLD!

ummm… Didn’t Oher hold Allen to one sack? And wasn’t that sack on a screen where Allen wasn’t even his assignment?

That is pretty good for a rookie tackle, who was only filling in at left tackle because of injury, going up against a pro bowler.

by BAL_Hawk on Oct 21, 2009 9:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah... no minny responses to that post yet...

The only sack Allen got was when Oher didn’t initiate contact with him. Every time Oher made contact, he won. I’d say that’s pretty good. Also, if Allen’s defensive comments on the radio are any indication, he knows he got beat and he’s embarrassed.

vikes were the better team sunday.

Correct

and also correct is that Oher held his own against Allen and didn’t let him disrupt the game like Allen has done in other games.

im loved when Oher let Allen come up the field on the outside and Rice busted through the vacated spot. Allen was a good little boy after that.

that is a great play on agressive DE’s. Suggs won’t have to worry about that.
