Week 4: NFL Picks & Pans

After a great week of predicting the winner of the Ravens game, I head to week four with a robust 30-16 season record. Not bad, although remember that I'm just picking the winner, not by the point spread. The Dolphins killed me last week, both in my predictions and my "Last Man Standing" contest. This week, my lock game is Jacksonville over Houston. For the rest of my picks, here we go:

Jacksonville over Houston:  The Texans are considering a QB switch, while it looks like the Jags running game is getting untracked, which bodes well for them but bad for Houston.

Arizona over NY Jets:  I took the Cardinals over the Redskins last week and missed, but am sticking with them this week in their second road game in a row here on the east coast. Favre is hurting and the Jets have just not looked in sync so far, while the Cardinal's receiving tandem of Bouldin and Fitzgerald is by far the best in the NFL.

Tennessee over Minnesota:  Looking forward to see how the Titans handle the Vikings running game and especially AP. Tennessee is the Ravens next opponent and this might end up being a battle of unbeatens next week. Cool!

Denver over Kansas City:  The Broncos are a lot stronger than what most expected behind an efficient passing attack. The Chiefs can't decide on a QB, as they all have been either injured or just plain bad.

New Orleans over San Francisco:  The 49ers and especially JT O'Sullivan have been surprisingly good on offense, but it will be hard to defeat the pass happy offense of the Saints in New Orleans.

Carolina over Atlanta:  The Falcons have proven to be a much better team at home and they're on the road this week against a pretty good Panthers team.

Cincinnati over Cleveland:  While the Battle for Ohio can go either way, no one really cares as the loser claims the AFC North basement and the winner claims 3rd place. Sweet!

Tampa Bay over Green Bay:  The Packers and Aaron Rodgers have done remarkably well despite the absence of Brett Favre. However, the Bucs play pretty good defense and were impressive in their come from behind win in Chicago last week.

Buffalo over St. Louis:  This could be a "Trap Game" for the Bills, as they are big favorites on the road over a hapless team that could have a coaching change by tomorrow if the Rams lose. Therefore, I am wary of an upset, given what we've seen in the league so far this season.

San Diego over Oakland:  Even at 1-2, the Raiders have came close to winning their last game in Buffalo, but the Chargers are clicking on offense and there's no way for the Raiders to keep up.

Dallas over Washington:  In what is most likely the NFL's best rivalry, the Cowboys have too much offense for the Redskins to spring an upset in Dallas.

Chicago over Philadelphia:  Even though they're at home, this is an upset pick as the Eagles are favored by three points. The Bears will be in a nasty mood after losing at home last week, while the Eagles beat down the offenseless o-line of Pittsburgh.

(NOTE: I'll pick & pan the Ravens-Steelers game in  tomorrow's post.)

Last Week:  10-6

Season Record:  30-16

I ment to say Kansas City and Washington would win.

Ha, not really, just trying to save face. No dominant teams this year. I think everyone will will lose at least 3 or 4 games. I love it when its wide open. A win tonight and the Ravens must truly be considered contenders to come out of the AFC.
