It's just my opinion, but...
...the Ravens are still not getting any respect for their win against the Bengals, as evidenced by their being an underdog at Houston.
...I'm not too sure how the Texans can get steamrolled by the Steelers and still be favorites over the Ravens, who won last week.
...it's not like the Texans were upset last week, or they were supposed to be such a good team this season.
...the national media have a much clearer memory of the Ravens injury-riddled 2007 5-11 team as opposed to the healthy 2006 13-3 one.
...with the Ravens healthy this season, it should more closely resemble the 2006 one.
...after the Cleveland Browns lose to the Steelers this Sunday to go 0-2 with both losses at home, they will slink into Baltimore for their first road game and third loss of the season next week.
...the Cincinnati Bengals return home with a very important game on the line for the team and especially head coach Marvin Lewis. An 0-2 start puts them in the division basement & a slow boat to a high draft pick.
...the best games this weekend are the Patriots-Jets, Broncos-Chargers and the Cowboys-Eagles.
...I'm also interested in the Vikings-Colts game, as one of them will end up a very disappointing 0-2 start.
...I fully expect the Colts to still be in the playoff chase with a win or loss this weekend because as long as Peyton Manning is on the field, they are one of the better teams in the league.
...the Pats will still be a very good team and new QB Matt Cassel will have some pretty good targets to still throw to.
...a lot of Tom Brady's TD passes to Randy Moss were completed because of Moss' ability, not because of Brady's.
...therefore, don't be surprised if Moss still has a dozen TD receptions and Cassel ends up looking pretty good.
...weren't the Pats' fans panicking when Drew Bledsoe went down with an injury years ago and the Pats were left with an unproven 6th round draft pick named Tom Brady?
...I'm not saying Matt Cassel is the next "Tom Brady" but if he is, you heard it here first!
...while Brett Favre is an upgrade over Chad Pennington for the Jets (sorry Miami!), I'm not convinced which "Brett Favre" he will be this season- the horrible 2006 one or the incredible 2007 one!
...the Raiders, Bengals, Texans, Dolphins will line their respective division basements in the AFC.
...the Lions, Redskins, Falcons and 49ers will do the same in the NFC.
...the above opinions are mine and only intended to spark debate, not piss off the fans of the teams I degraded. Sorry.
Peace to all those affected by the events of 9/11. We are all Americans. U-S-A, U-S-A!!!

Absolutely
The national media ignores the ravens. They didn’t watch the game or they would have seen how a dropped TD pass by Heaps and called-back TD return by Figurs would have made it more of an obvious blowout. But even if the game ended 31-7, the pundits would still be saying, “Wow, the Bengals must be really terrible.”

Dropped passes happen
to everyone. You get credit for the ones you complete “If only”s are BS.

Fair enough,
but it seems like Sunday was just a bad day for our receiving corps, who usually isn’t THAT dropsy

Actually,...
…all I’ve seen from Todd Heap from the 2006 playoff game fumble against the Colts until now is dropped passes and more fumbles. They say he’s only fumbled six times in his career, but it seems like they’ve all came in his past six games. Can you say, “over-rated?”

overrated maybe
but Todd Heap only played in five games in 2007 (not counting the Rams game where he tried to play but couldn’t). In each of those games, he had at least 4 catches (and no fumbles). We can knock him for being injury prone, and usually do. But I think there is something to be said for the fact that our QBs have done him no favors by not getting the ball to him accurately, putting him in a position where he takes hits in the air too often. I do believe he’ll bounce back, he just needs to work the rust off.

Yeah, but...
…how many times have you seen Heap catch a short pass in the flat, turn to face the defender, put his head down and have the defender submarine him for only a short gain? If he kept his head up, he could probably have easily jumped over or evaded the defender and gained so many more yards. I can’t remember how long its been since he got serious YAC. Those falls on his head is part of his injury problems, as he could probably avoid some of those if he kept his head up and fought forward for extra yardage. He was one of the top TE’s at one time, but for whatever reason, Algie Crumpler would have been a great offseason pickup, as Tennessee got him for next to nothing.

Alge Crumpler....
Now there is a case of overrated and dropped passes. He was awful last year. I actually felt bad for Joey Harrington. Crumpler would rip Harrington to the media, and then drop 4 easy passes the next game. It was absurd.
You may have a point about how he could have gained more yards on those short passes, but I hated those Billick short passes to the flat. Not a single player on our team ever did anything with them. It was awful, so that may have been a coaching problem as much as a problem with Heap.

We might not agree on Crumpler,...
…but we definitely do agree on Billick. I yelled at the TV every time I saw those third down and 10 and Billick would call for a 4 yard pass into the flat. Thank god Cam’s here, eh?

Either way...
…if our defense shows up and Flacco keeps the mistakes to a minimum, then this game should go the same way as the opening one, as Houston’s run defense was shredded by Pittsburgh and their offense couldn’t get going all day.

Road game + rookie QB = underdog in vegas.
I like Baltimore to win though.
Cannons... fire them.
