Questions for HogsHaven
Your friend Rexx was gracious enough to come over to the SBN Washington Redskins blog, Hogs Haven, and offer his services in answering any and all questions the Skins bloggers have about the Ravens. So, I felt compelled to do the same for y'all.
If you have questions about your interstate rivals, feel free to ask them here or over at Hogs Haven and someone (if not myself) should be able to answer them for you.
I'm looking forward to a good game Sunday night. And I'm rooting for y'all against Dallas (monetary gain might or might not be involved.)
That's it for now.
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

How can Portis possibly have a good game?
I think he is a great runner, but I just dont think he is physical enough to shed the tackles of our front 7. In other words, what do you think Portis has to do in order to have a 100 Yard performance?
This is a question for every team, cause it never happens!

The most important thing...
is that the Skins don’t fall behind early. That’s happened lately… and then the whole offensive game has been drop back passing. Stay in the game, grind it out and don’t let the defense focus on the pass.
Can he? Yeah. Will he? Dunno.

Is Jason Cambell Regressing?
Or are other factors in play to account for his drop off in play the past month or so? O-Line struggle? Lack of success running the ball?
He looked so good to open the season, but not so much recently. How much blame should he get for the teams offensive struggles?

All of the above...
plus it seems that defenses have caught up to Zorn’s game plan. Growing pains all around.
Portis and Betts have been hurt, which doesn’t help.
Basically, everyone has been off.

Campbell to Cooley
The Ravens seem to have problems with the TE running short slants and getting huge gains on passes across the middle that beat our LB’s. Has this been a staple of the Redskins gameplan this season? I recall that Cooley had a Pro Bowl year last season doing this but have not heard the same this year. What is the reason for the drop off, if there is any?

No, he hasn't...
and I have no freaking idea why. He should be more involved, especially with a young QB… but for some reason, he’s been missing from the offense.
I hope it changes this weekend.

See Todd Heap First Half of the Season
Maybe it takes time for rookie coaches to work in the TE?

Redskins Pass Rush
Ravens rookie Joe Flacco’s bad games this season have been largely due to the hard pass rush from the defensive front four. The Skins seem to have trouble rushing the passer. What do you see them doing to make Flacco’s life harder on Sunday?

Hopefully...
more than they did last weekend. They’ve really had trouble getting pressure with only 4… but I can see them loading up on the run anyway. I’d figure that Flacco and the Ravens’ running game will see lots of defenders in the box… if and when they’re not blitzing.

Who are the three key players on the Redskins defense and why?
What’s the deal with all the injured players this week? Who do you think won’t show up from the 11 starters who missed practice on Wednesday
I’ve heard that the Redskins don’t throw the ball deep – is that true? If they do throw it deep, how often?

Horton is on the rise...
especially as a 7th round rookie. But London Fletcher is the heart and soul of that defense.
Jason Taylor and the D Line has under performed. I keep hoping it was due to his leg injury from earlier in the year… but he hasn’t really gotten off in any of the games since.
When the recently acquired DeAngelo Hall and the other DBs show up to play, this defense is really tough.
You said 11… I’m only counting 9. I think everyone will play… or at least try. I think Carter and Griffin are the most questionable of the questionable. And LB Washington is definately out… at least as far as I know.
And no real deep balls… so they safeties will play close to the line. This hurts the shorter passes and the running game… and is something that the Skins haven’t been able to add to the passing game. It’s sad because JC actually throws the deep ball pretty well. Against the Giants, they attempted a few but weren’t really successful. maybe we’ll see some more on Sunday… but I doubt it.

I recounted and got 10
Maybe one of these isn’t a starter, but the ten I counted were Andre Carter, London Fletcher, Kedrick Gholston, Pete Kendall, Clinton Portis, Chris Samuels, Shawn Springs, Marcus Washington, Cornelius Griffin, and Randy Thomas.

what will be the sequence (run/pass) of the skins first 2 posessions?
on D how will they start the game strategy wise?
by raven on Dec 5, 2008 12:57 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Hopefully...
there will be a balance as long as Portis is healthy. Maybe take some shots downfield. But I have a feeling it’ll be the usual: short passes, runs left.
On D, I see them stacking the box and forcing Flacco to win the game. Blitzing the run. Stuff like that.

skins squeeked by in seattle and then got killed by the giants..are they at bottom yet? zorn’s play calling is bordering andy reid/romeo/fat guy at Notre Dame territory these days (minus the running game)..do you feel the same?

Short answer:
yes.

Longer answer...
he’s still getting used to calling games. Romeo and Reid and Weis all have years and years of experience in calling games. Zorn, along with being a rookie Head Coach, is a rookie play caller. He’s still growing into both roles.
Are they at the bottom yet? If 7-5 is bottom territory. They’ve hit a tough stretch that (luckily) coincided with the weaker part of the schedule. They just didn’t get out of it before the Giants game. Hopefully they can find a way out against the Ravens.

Zorn
Do you think he did a good job of celebrating with the team when he said "Hip Hip Hooray, Hip Hip Hooray, Hip Hip Hooray?

He kicked it old school...
you gotta respect a guy who knows his history. George Allen would be proud.
