Stat of the Week
Taken from www.BaltimoreRavens.com. These are a few stats that I think stand out about our team which relate to this weeks game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at our home stadium. Enjoy!
STAT OF THE WEEK
The Steelers have one helluva defense. They boast a unit that currently ranks first in the NFL in every major category. Hey, but not to be overlooked is our “D,” which stands close behind at No. 2 in just about every way possible. And guess what, Ravens fans? Here’s something we do better than any other team… And quite honestly, you are a big reason why:
Baltimore’s defense has suffocated opponents at M&T Bank Stadium this season. In fact, the Ravens rank No. 1 – by a long shot – in every major defensive category among all home teams in 2008. As Terrell Suggs said, “Now it’s time for them to visit our backyard.”
RAVENS / NFL DEFENSIVE RANKINGS AT HOME (2008 Season)
| Category | Rank | Stats | ||
| Points Allowed/Game | 1st | 10.0 | ||
| Total Yards Allowed/Game | 1st | 204.5 | ||
| Rushing Yards Allowed/Game | 1st | 63.7 | ||
| Net Pass Yards Allowed/Game | 1st | 140.8 | ||
| Opponents' QB Rating | 1st | 40.1 | ||
| Opponents' 3rd-Down Pct. | 1st | 24.1 |
NUMBERS TO RAVE ABOUT
29.8
An NFL-high points per game Baltimore has averaged in the last eight games (since Oct. 19), going 7-1 during that span.
52
Number of “three-and-outs” the Ravens’ defense has forced this season, most in the NFL. (Washington and Pittsburgh are tied for second with 45 each.) “Hey, it’s just like a pitcher in baseball,” Rex Ryan states. “We aim for three strikes, and then you’re out.”
Lets keep pumping up the volume at M&T Bank Stadium this weekend boys! We need all the support we can give our beloved Ratbirds. : )
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

Great post
Super stats, reminding me why I’ll always brave the cold weather and traffic to sit in the stands and cheer on the purple and black! To those fans who’d rather watch it on TV, because you have a better “view,” you have no idea of what you’re missing, especially when Ray comes out of the tunnel.
Speaking of that, I certainly pray he does that on Sunday, when they introduce the defense. No offense, Flacco, but no offense!

Is Rex Ryan
available for a coaching job for the O’s this spring? He seems to have a strong grasp of the fundamentals of baseball (3 strikes) and you can’t argue with his results.

Wow, what a novel idea! Quick, call the Orioles to let them know of this new, strange pitching technique!

I knew this would get everyone amped up!
I saw these stats and was just shocked. I knew we were dominant at home, but this freaking good!
Gonna be a fun one on Sunday boys.
Should I go with Black McGahee Jersey, Black Reed Jersey, The Pink Ray Lewis Jersey that raven gave me as an early Christmas gift, or my purple Ray jersey. I can never decide which one to wear, I am leaning towards Reed, but McGahee is my boy, Ray Lewis is a little over worn at times, but still a traditional jersey.

Go Reed
He’s a beast this year… and McGahee… well, he just isn’t-yet?
Kevbo: [to George Sherrill] George, you look a lot like Vin Diesel...
Flatbill: Let's get somethin' straight... Vin Diesel looks like me.

Don't get too excited
The Ravens are good, but these home stats don’t tell the whole story. The Ravens have only played one offense in the top 15 in YPG at home: the #7 Filthadelphia Eagles. The Steelers have played #3, #6, #8, #9, and #15 at home. Plus, the Ravens have played the 32nd, 31st and 28th ranked offenses at home.
However, the 3 and out stat is impressive. I think this a big reason the Ravens scoring is way up: it keeps the other defense tired, keeps your defense fresh, and helps the field position battle.

Any given sunday
Any team cant beat the other. Every team in this league is capable of putting up 50 and allowing 0. It is just a matter of fact if they will show up. The Ravens have showed up, and yes it was against some of the lesser frightening offenses, but teams like the Browns and Cinci DO have the talent to put 45 up on you at any time. Both those teams just dont have the right people running them. You cannot tell me that Ocho Cinco, T.J. Housmazedahfktirdf, and Braylon havent torched that defense in steel city a few times. Maybe not this year, but I do recall TJ wiping his feet off with the terrible towel in your home stadium.
Just saying that the records and stats of the offenses we have faced dont necessarily determine how good THEY CAN BE.
But what matters is this Sunday at 4:15 pm in my great hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.
