pros and con of getting devery henderson.

Everyone seems to want henderson, i too would say, bring him, it wouldn't hurt, my mother, with both hands behind her back, tied to a tree, both hands glued together, and the ball weighing 40 pounds could probably do better than clayton, D-will,(even though he is in ir he wasn't good while he was healthy) and figurs have done so far. and henderson wont be expensive, but he has one big problem that might bother him as a WR.

pros

  • he's fast as hell
  • he's 26
  • he averages 21 yards per catch
  • he will be very very cheap

cons..

HE couldn't catch a cold in winter, in alaska, in sub zero temprature, naked....see for yourself

we just signed a pointless Wideout

anyone remember terrance copper? NO?

cuz we signed a fricking injured useless wide-out. i hope we dont pick any other ones up, till we get our senses together… SMH

what a waste of cap money

Life is nothing but Beats & Rhymes

Copper didn't exactly waste much cap money

as I recall, we signed him because someone went on injured reserve (Demetrius Williams?) Someone had to replace him, so we picked Copper off the scrap heap, then he got injured, but the Ravens don’t want to cut him. Whatever.

Copper played decent in New Orleans

but then again, I could look good in that offense, as Drew Brees can put the ball whereever he wants and makes his receivers look better than they are.

Devery Henderson is a very drop prone WR, but even still

the way he gets open gives him a catch rate of 51%, and given the big gains he is capable of, he is definitely worth a look. An inexpensive proven deep threat is hard to come by.

ps

on another note- Ed Reed brain fart lateral attempt against Eagles was reminiscent of his rookie year when he held the ball up on a int return against the Bengals and had it swatted away on the 5 LOL. great but dumb.

My Pros and Cons

Pros

- Averaging 25.2 yards per reception this season. 22 catches, 554 yards, 3 touchdowns. 55.4 yards a game so far this season.

- Over his 5 year career in the NFL, is averaging 37.3 yards per reception. That is pretty damn good. And he did not have 1 catch his rookie year in 2004.

- Only 26 years old.

Cons

- Only 5’11", we may be looking for someone who has a substantial size difference over corners. Not buying the feact that he will be able to go up for a ball over some of the top corners in this league.

- Has yet to have a season of 40+ receptions, but has gotten some yards with the low amount of balls he has caught, I will give him that.

- Along with that, Henderson has also yet to have a game this year with more than 4 catches. Has only had one game in his career with 4 or more receptions. (2006 against Cincinnati, 9 Rec, 169 yards, 0 td.)

- I have seen some footage, and he surely does not have the most reliable hands in this league.

- Has not shown this league or our team enough that he is worth a contract to be an impact for right away. Will he be able to do more than just being a deep threat? Is that really what we are looking for? Because if so, why cant we breed Figurs for that role? Go, let me have it boys.

- Where would he fit with us? We are looking for a future number 1 WR for this team, as we need to start realizing that our boy Derrick Mason does not have too much left in him. (He is still great right now, I am aware of that.) Are we going to give this guy the money to come in and be our slot receiver?

However we look at this situation, there are its positives and negatives. I am sure that at this point in the season, the least of the worries for the Raven’s organization is off season acquisitions, they are all looking at next week’s road game against the Bengals. Sure, Devery Henderson might be a decent pick up for the Ravens if it is for the right amount of money, but I am not too sure if he is our answer to having a set in stone #1 Reciever for this team. Clayton surely does have the talent to be a complementary wideout for this team for years to come and I would hope that us fans have faith in him to open up the field.

All in all though, I think that the Cons weigh over the Pros of Henderson. This is just my opinion and if we were to acquire Henderson in the offseason, I would support it 100%, as I support any decision this team makes. We are one of the few teams in this league that knows what good talent looks like and the Ravens may see something in him that I might not. I am just standing in the position that he may not be the answer to our future WR concerns

I'm thinking Henderson would be an excellent short term solution

that has a lot of upside if he can learn how to catch better. The Ravens need a deep threat that can stretch the field next year. It takes time to develop a WR in the NFL. Henderson could join the team ready to see significant playing time, which a rookie probably would not. I realize that guys like Eddie Royal and DeSean Jackson have had big rookie seasons, but they are by far the exception.

"if he can learn how to catch better"

That’s a big if…. He’s 26 and he hasn’t learned how to catch yet. I have my doubts his hands will improve if they haven’t up to this point. To me, he similar to Ashlie Lelie. Big Play potential, but will drop more bombs then they catch.

We already have a Henderson on our team in Yamon Figures. Their both fast as hell with bad hands but yamon is a better KR. We dont need Henderson, we need a big Deep Threat wideout. I think we go into the draft and get one.

FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea....

Henderson might fit in well with us, but we need a 6’3" receiver who has a size advantage over the corners in this league. One who can go up in a one on one situation when Flacco is forced to lob it up there. Henderson is only 5 11

Wow, some many comments

on a third or fourth receiver from New Orleans. Enough already!

I like Henderson

He’s not great, but he’s a good player and a lot better at what he does than anyone we have.

Not better than

Mason, no way. Perhaps a better deep threat, but who knows what he’d do in a Ravens uniform. What happens on one team doesn’t always translate. He’s a #2 or 3 receiver in New Orleans. He may end up sucking as a #1 or 2 here. It’s not that simple. Enough of him!

I meant as a deep threat. He’s a better deep threat then anyone we have. He’s a #2 WR in NO, that’s not bad. I’m a finegler, rather than go for the big money free agents, I’d rather grab pieces that get us what we need. Henderson is the best value on the marker for a deep threat. OBV Chad Ocho Cinco would be a better receiver than Henderson, but a lot more expensive.
