BAL Pass Defense
Its funny, I was sitting there thinking about our pass defense and how it dropped to number 9 overall. But if you look at the breakdown it isnt playing like a number 9 pass defense.
So of course if you look at total yards we've allowed approximately 193 yards a game, but if you look at categories like passes defended, interceptions, and touchdowns off of interceptions (not to be confused with as a result of interceptions). We are right up there in the thick of it.
Passes Defended:
Tied for 3rd (w/ Titans) with 68 passes defended.
Interceptions:
Tied for 2nd (w/ Titans) with 14 interceptions.
Touchdowns:
Tied for 2nd (w/ Jets) with 3 TDs from interceptions.
Number 1, with a TD percentage of .333
Those stats say a lot about our team. So like we were saying before, teams may get a lot of passing yards against us but that doesnt necessarily mean they will do anything with those yards.
Note: I got all most those stats from NFL.com the team stats page, I just found a site with more stats but I havent finished breaking them down yet (they use a really small font)
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

Great Stats
We ARE allowing a lot of passing yards, but yes, teams are not doing too much with them. I just hope that it doesn’t bite us in the ass one game and those long passes continue to be touchdowns, cause then we might be screwed.
The main reason why teams cannot do much with their passing yards is because we absolutely shut down the run every game. Teams will get a nice 30 yard completion on us, then try to run it twice, get to a 3rd and 7 and we will knock it down. I hope we can continue to play the Raven style defense we all love to see and let Flacco, our running game, and Cam wear down the opponent.
opinions on the giants game? anyone
as a giants fan gotta love what baltimore brings defensively year in and year out, go giants good luck ravens, def. psyched up for this one
My Opinions
Your team is great, but I dont know if your offense will be able to move the ball on us too well. I feel that Eli will not be able to handle the pass rush too well, and if we can shut down your terrific running game and force Eli to beat us with his arm, it could be our game. Your defense has been playing well also and you might have the best pass rush in the league next to Pittsburgh. We have a very young, but talented Off-Line. We are going to need a good job of opening up the running game then hopefully let Flacco get some good passes. If we can get a 2 score lead on the GIants, I feel that the Ravens have a very good chance of winning. I will say 27-23 Ravens. Good luck on Sunday, should be a really fun game to watch.
Hey Blue
I look at this game with a lot of possibilities for both teams. One thing though I keep coming back to is the Steelers-Redskin game and the Giants-Browns game. Now I am not crazy enough to think that that the Redskin=Giants or that the Giants are not going to be prepared for a big time game in their own stadium. If you do notice, teams within the different divisions tend to field and play very similar style of teams. In much the same infuriating way that the Colts match up well against us, they also seem to match up well against the Steelers as seen by their last meeting. And I think, in my rather bias opinion, that the Ravens could match up well against the G-Men. Of course I would much prefer this to be in Baltimore with the Giants coming off a bye. I honestly think that this game will grind out in the trenches in the first 3 quarters with both teams airing it out in the 4th. Thank god we got a bunch of games under our belt early on, to bring the offense to speed. I just hope it isn’t a blowout either way….okay…I could live with a Ravens blowout….
Happy Veteran’s Day from one vet to any others!!! FTN!!!

Mr MaLor
ur comments are appreciated and insightful, but u fail to recognize the best part of the giants is their o-line, and the offense runs an effective and well balanced game on the offensive side whether it be running or passing, even if the run game gets shut down which is very hard to, itll be even harder to get to manning as no other qb has been sacked less than eli which is a testament to the protection around him, but ur right u gotta stop the run to do anything first, so i cant wait to dig int o some more junk food and watch this physical matchup coming up, enjoy the game guys
Tough one
My concern about the Giants rests with their trenches. To me, they have both the best offensive and defensive lines in the entire league. That’s where the games are won and lost and is the reason they are where they are. You can give whatever props you want to Jacobs, Burres, or Manning. However, it all starts inside and they are the best.

Great game on Sunday
no matter who your team is everyone should stop and watch this one. i know most fans call there games as tough, physical contests but this one truly is. it’s going to be won on the line. i believe everything else is a stalemate except Burris-who is a beast. we can neutralize your run game BUT tight end passing is our weekness. we will give up a long pass play because we are young in the DB department. rolle back is a big lift although he left some to be desired earlier in the season. as long as we stay away from the big play we will be difficult in the red zone. if i’m the Giants I take my end zone shots when i reach the 30-20 yard lines.. it’ll be a little less difficult. big runners tend to get stuffed and stripped by the Ravens so your better off screening/pitching out. ray will be a busy man if that happens. we need to step up our rushing..we apply pressure but are short in the actuall sack department. i believe Manning is Reeds type of qb and I look for at least 2 picks. if we capitalize we win. if we don’t and it’s a straight up game…Burris has me worried most. If we contain him we’re in good shape. Rb’s not so much a worry. Damn. this one is a toss up and i wish it were here in B-more! your lucky Big Blue!
Burres has a long history with us
I bet C-Mac wishes he was in for this game, as they both hated each other when Burres was with the Steelers.

our pass defense is a total team effort..Rexx likes to say bend and don’t break and he’s right..lets say we are better at pass defense- does that take away from our shut down run D. i’ll take it as we have it…at least we know to expect the pass. we just need to take advantage of it and i think we will as everyone matures into there position..Leonhard is still feeling his way.. he gets closer to the catch every week. reed can start gambling soon and Washington can’t help to get better..skills are there. that is why the second half can be real scary for opponents..we should be twice as good as opening day very soon. can we dream 2000. holly hell.
